In the third of a four-part series on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, Daniel Pollack-Pelzner asks, what if Kate’s story isn’t the play’s only reality? Pollack-Pelzner explores how a drunken beggar and an earlier version of the script shift the brawling balances of the play and call into question who the real shrew is.

Seymour Krelborn is a meek and dejected assistant at a floral shop who happens upon a strange plant, which he affectionately names “Audrey II” after his crush at the shop. Little does he know that this strange and unusual plant will develop a soulful R&B voice, a potty mouth, and an unquenchable thirst for HUMAN BLOOD.

The goal of this paper is to examine the practice of Applied Theatre in order to better define the genre and make a case for its legitimization and inclusion in higher theatre education. By looking at the theatre practitioners of the 20th century who paved the way for its existence as well as modern practitioners, a definition will be distilled down to five core characteristics of the practice with several case studies illustrating those characteristics. The public's perception of war is influenced by every media story they see, every account they read, and every story they hear. News telecasts and newspapers tend to lean towards a focus of the grand narratives of war such as political involvement and overarching strategy. Media such as books and film can tell a more personal narrative of the events of war and attempt to display how war "really is" through the use of written and visual language that focuses more on how things happened as opposed to simply what happened. The Keck Summer Collaborative Research Program provides opportunities for Linfield College students and faculty to conduct research on issues related to the Pacific Northwest, and to bring the research findings back into the classroom within the subsequent academic year. Students partner with faculty to conduct research and present their work to other students, Linfield staff and faculty, and community members during a series of brown bag lunches. Kate McMullan and Kyra Rickards conducted research with Daniel Pollack-Pelzner and gave this presentation during the summer of 2013.

Two years ago, I came across an essay written by my great-grandfather, Albert Hulet. The short, two-page document, entitled “I Remember,” is a reflective piece written from a vantage point high in the Tetons. In the essay, Albert reflects as an old man, looking down the drainages surrounding him, describing the experiences he had in each canyon as a boy herding sheep in that area, and expounding on how those experiences shaped him into the man he became.

Writing the web series Alabaster Sky was a process of daily adaptation. From viewing every web series and documentary-style movie we could get our hands on, to inventing a method of structuring serial fiction that’s non-linear, this project tested us daily. The success of the production itself is yet to be determined, but the writing process can be considered successful in its attempt to test the limits of new media. The most significant area of work in the writing process was marrying the series’ documentary style with a non-linear structure.

My project was to research and recreate a dress worn by Marilla Lucretia Johnson Miller Daniels. She helped her husband, William Miller, who is sometimes referred to as a “Bogus Brigham”¹ and her father, Aaron Johnson, to found the city of Springville and get the education system in Provo started. Having been a teacher in Nauvoo and in the LDS Church (Primary for ten years and Sunday School for twenty), she supported the work of her first husband to establish education in Provo, and by 1857 there was a school in every district². This project set out to explore, identify, and harness strategy and implementation of social marketing for low-budget and student film online distribution. Taking from previous examples and small-scale testing, a lot has been learned. The biggest lesson learned? Just how much my student colleagues and I underestimated the vastness of social marketing. The growing world of social media has been constantly expanding, and the rules change every day. As such, our project has had to adapt, and deadlines were pushed back, to accommodate for all of the new information we have gathered.

Alicia Alonso contended that the musicality of Cuban ballet dancers contributed to a distinctive national style in their performance of European classics such as Giselle and Swan Lake. A highly developed sense of musicality distinguished Alonso's own dancing. For the ballerina, this was more than just an element of her individual style: it was an expression of the Cuban cultural environment and a common feature among ballet dancers from that island. In addition to elucidating the physical manifestations of musicality in Alonso's dancing, this article examines how the ballerina's frequent references to music in connection to both her individual identity …
