The Interrelationship Of Identities: How Artistic Practice Informs Teaching In The Visual Arts, Karen G. Adams Edwards

This research is an investigation into the relationship between artistic practice and art teaching in secondary art teachers. After an examination of various perspectives on this relationship that have appeared in scholarly journals over the last several decades, some of which argue that artistic practice is essential to the quality of an art teacher's teaching, and some of which regard the two practices as separate, I interviewed five secondary art teachers to find out more about this relationship. In the decades following 1945, Americans moved increasingly out of cities into suburbs. The migration illustrated the emergence of a new, broader middle class as a result of growing postwar affluence. In the previous half-century, families living in a suburb could claim middle-class status. The emerging class built its identity on the forms and values adopted from this earlier, more affluent Victorian middle class. These adopted values were played out in a home designed around Progressive era ideals of the family. Historic Domes In The Middle East And Central Asia: A Study On Pointed Discontinuous Double-Shell Domes., Maryam Ashkan

This research presents a developed geometric approach for deriving the typologies and geometries of discontinuous double-shell domes, specially pointed types, in Islamic architecture. In addition, common morphological and typological characteristics of Eastern domes are put forward. Firstly, an outline of the origin and development of Eastern domes are addressed since the early through to the late Islamic periods. Common formal architectural language of Eastern domes are established by estimation of 53 samples of domes amongst eight countries; these are Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey. On November 16th, 1926 George Croll Baum died. In Gettysburg, Pennsylvania the local newspaper covered his death. The Gettysburgian, the paper for Gettysburg College reported that Henry W.A. Hanson, the college president, was “deeply distressed and further noted that Baum's death 'touched the hearts of all that knew him with deep regret.'" Within a month Dr. Hanson had already ordered three memorial plaques to be placed on the campus. Baum's family tried to help pay for them. Hanson refused the money. In the spring of 1925, Santa Anita's Festival of Flowers seemed to follow its tranquil trend of previous years. The large displays of flowers, the selection of indias bonitas (as the contestants of beauty pageants organized in an attempt to stimulate indigenism were known) and the boat-rides on the Viga Canal, all communicated what residents of neighboring Mexico City had come to expect of the small pueblo in the Federal District since the Porfiriato: the respite of a peaceful pastoral, the link to a colorful past, and the promise that mexicanidad was alive and well in the campo. Pierre-­‐Auguste Renoir’s sculpture Venus Victorieuse is a mythic image of the ‘ideal’ woman that was influenced by The Judgment of Paris, the Aphrodite of Knidos, and the imagery of Eve in the Garden of Eden. This work is fundamental to realizing Renoir’s overall treatment of the female nude, which is fully epitomized by this formal sculpture.

Pierre-­‐Auguste Renoir was an Impressionist artist who dedicated the last three decades of his life primarily to the depiction of the female nude. His representation of the nude, both in painting and sculpture, was monumental and idealized, and he often created images …

They are believed to have historical relevance with the development Malang s oldest culture which was under the reign of Kanjuruhan Kingdom around 7th century. Topeng Patih dance, the opening dance of the traditional theatre performance are closely related to the pattern of the show related to the space, time, and content. So the symbolic structuralist theoretical approach would be the chosen strategy to understand the symbolic internal meanings.
