African dances are among the oldest dance traditions in existence; their structure is uniquely different because the movement therein is inseparable from the music that governs the movements. The music is associated with the spoken language of the people, which makes it virtually impossible for outsiders to comprehend the music of different African countries. 中国现代文学流派“七月派”强调文学创作中的“主观战斗精神”和“精神奴役创伤”，因其在文学领域异质凸显，与代表主流文化的文艺思想不尽契合，导致了 1955年中华人民共和国的第一大“文字狱”。自20世纪80年代以来，胡风事件及胡风文艺思想重新进入学术研宄视野，成为史学界和文艺界的研宄热点，但迄今为止国内外关于七月派研宄的现状并不令人满意，正如周燕芬所指出的，“现在的研宄成果中，实在留下不少史料的空白或者因史料的不信、疑虑、矛盾而带来的所谓‘分寸’，所谓‘留有余地’，说到底，依然是研宄的一种不清楚和未完成状态”（周燕芬，2013:6)。而就七月派翻译家研宄而言，也存在诸多研宄缺口。本论文论题有三：1、七月派作为“新文学的骄傲”， 其领袖人物胡风的文艺理论特质何在？影响了怎样一个文学流派及翻译家群体？2、七月派翻译家以“启蒙现实主义”为译介出发点，形成了怎样的译介主张？3、从翻译政治学、描写翻译学理论、生存心态等视角探讨以胡风、满涛、 绿原、呂荧等为代表的七月派翻译家具有哪些群体特征？本论文得出以下结论: 七月派翻译群体是我国翻译史上不可忽视的群体，他们基于启蒙现实主义思想的译介主张是以为时代和战斗而翻译，为文学经典生成而翻译，为民族文学发展而翻译为主要特征的。而胡风“为时代、为战斗而翻译”的“武器”翻译论， 满涛“传达精义”的翻译观，绿原“整体效果”、翻译“异同”性、名著重译 “接力赛”等译论，呂荧“谐意谐音”的诗歌翻译理念等等，既是对七月派翻译主张的体现和深化，又是各自翻译实践的重要指导思想。本研宄原创性在于: 在追根溯源七月派的源流、定义及其影响的基础上，从活生生的研宄对象及历史语境出发，对胡风文艺理论影响七月派翻译主张形成的过程以及七月派翻译家的文化生态作出相对可靠的历史复原，让读者对该时期的翻译历史全貌具有更清晰的了解，这在近现代翻译史研宄上不啻为一个重要发现。

This thesis examines the use of folklore and the folkloresque in Haruki Murakami’s novel Hitsuji wo meguru bōken, or, as it is translated by Alfred Birnbaum, A Wild Sheep Chase. Murakami blends together Japanese and Western folklore to present a Japan that has been colonized by a post-national, global capitalistic force. At the same time, Murakami presents a strategy to resist this colonizing force by placing agency onto the individual and suggesting that it is still possible to craft a meaningful identity within the Japanese/Western blended, globalized society in which these individuals now exist.

This project consists of English translations of two German early Romantic stories, “Marie” (1798) by Sophie Mereau and “Seltner Ausweg” (1823) by Luise Brachmann, as well as an introductory discussion of the authors, their significance in the Jena Circle of Romantic writers, and the translation process. The introduction incorporates research on both Mereau and Brachmann and German early Romanticism, as well as some research on translation theory. Overall, the project aims to make “Marie” and “Seltner Ausweg,” which have not previously been translated, available to an English-speaking audience and to highlight the work of two little known Romantic women writers. …

The focus of this study in comparative criticism is a close analysis of Dostoevsky’s first literary publication - his 1844 translation of the first edition of Balzac’s Eugе́nie Grandet (1834) and the stylistic choices that he made as a young writer while working on Balzac’s novel. Through the prism of close reading this dissertation analyzes Dostoevsky’s literary debut in the context of his future mature aesthetic style and poetics. Comparing the original and the translation side by side, the dissertation focuses on the omissions, additions and substitutions that Dostoevsky brought into the text. In my dissertation, I analyze the extent to which literal, linguistic loss in translation leads to figurative gain in the self-translated work and non-authorial translations of three translingual Franco-Anglophone authors: Samuel Beckett, Julien Green, and Nancy Huston. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Emily Dickinson’s poetry appeared in Italy in two key forms: anthologized alongside other American authors and in select translations by prominent Italian intellectuals including poet Eugenio Montale and writer Emilio Cecchi. Dickinson was both touted as one of the great American writers, but also kept as somewhat of an underground poet who spoke to a specific literary identity in Italy. The cross-hairs of history brought together increased knowledge of Dickinson’s poetry just as Mussolini and his fascist agenda threatened the influence of literature whether homegrown or international. การศึกษาเรื่อง ชาตินิยมกับความเป็นอื่นที่พบในการแปลบทละครเรื่อง ‘The Merchant of Venice’ ของ William Shakespeare กรณีศึกษา: บทพระราชนิพนธ์แปลในพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวเรื่อง ‘เวนิสวาณิช’ นี้เป็นการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพตามแนวทางวัฒนธรรมศึกษาในศาสตร์การแปล โดยมุ่งศึกษาบทบาทของการแปลในการประกอบสร้างอัตลักษณ์ความเป็นอื่นและความเป็นไทยในฐานะส่วนหนึ่งของแนวคิดชาตินิยมที่ปรากฏในบทแปล เพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างบทบาทของการแปลกับบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์ในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวในประเด็นดังกล่าว ในการศึกษา ผู้วิจัยได้ทบทวนทฤษฎีและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง โดยเฉพาะในกรอบของศาสตร์การแปล ได้แก่ แนวคิดเรื่องอุดมการณ์ วาทกรรม และทฤษฎีวาทกรรมวิเคราะห์เชิงวิพากษ์ ตลอดจนแนวคิดเรื่องความเป็นอื่นและความเป็นไทย แล้วจึงได้ศึกษาแง่มุมที่เกี่ยวข้องที่ปรากฏในตัวบทต้นฉบับและบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์ของฉบับแปล ก่อนจะทำการวิเคราะห์บทแปลที่มีการสอดแทรกวาทกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเรื่องความเป็นอื่นจากตัวบทต้นฉบับ The Merchant of Venice ของวิลเลียม เชกสเปียร์ ในบทพระราชนิพนธ์แปล เวนิสวาณิช ของพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวด้วยแนวทางวาทกรรมวิเคราะห์เชิงวิพากษ์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ใน เวนิสวาณิช ปรากฏการปรับบทแปลที่มีส่วนในการกำหนดสร้างและขับเน้นอัตลักษณ์ความเป็นอื่นของตัวละครในเรื่อง และสอดแทรกอัตลักษณ์ความเป็นไทยอันพึงประสงค์ในสายตาของฝ่ายอำนาจนำ ได้แก่การเชิดชูสถาบันกษัตริย์ระบอบสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราชย์ในฐานะสัญลักษณ์ของชาติ การปรับบทแปลเช่นนี้เป็นผลจากความกังวลที่มีต่อสถานะความเป็นชาติของสยามท่ามกลางกระแสการไหลบ่าของอิทธิพลจากต่างชาติ ทั้งจากชาติตะวันตกที่เข้ามาล่าอาณานิคมในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และจากชาวจีนโพ้นทะเลที่เข้ามาอาศัยอยู่ในสยาม และเผยให้เห็นบทบาทของการแปลในการเป็นเครื่องมือขับเคลื่อนอุดมการณ์ โดยสอดคล้องกับบริบททางสังคมและการเมืองในสมัยดังกล่าว

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษากลวิธีและแนวทางการแปลคำสร้างใหม่จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทยในวรรณกรรมเยาวชนชุดแฮร์รี่ พอตเตอร์ ประพันธ์โดยเจ.เค. โรว์ลิ่ง และศึกษาเปรียบเทียบคำแปลคำสร้างใหม่ที่พบในฉบับแปลของสุมาลี บำรุงสุข วลีพร หวังซื่อกุล และงามพรรณ เวชชาชีวะ รวมถึงศึกษาลักษณะและแนวทางการสร้างสรรค์คำสร้างใหม่ในวรรณกรรมชุดนี้ ผู้วิจัยใช้แนวคิดเรื่องการสร้างและการแปลคำสร้างใหม่ของปีเตอร์ นิวมาร์กเป็นเกณฑ์ในการคัดสรรรวบรวมคำสร้างใหม่ จัดแบ่งประเภทคำสร้างใหม่ในต้นฉบับ และเป็นแนวทางในการวิเคราะห์คำแปล คำสร้างใหม่ในฉบับแปล ควบคู่ไปกับแนวทางการสร้างคำในภาษาไทย แนวคิดสมมูลภาพในการแปล แนวคิดบริบทในการแปล และแนวคิดเรื่องลักษณะของวรรณกรรมเยาวชนแนวแฟนตาซี ผลการวิจัยพบว่าคำสร้างใหม่ในต้นฉบับมี 5 ประเภทคือ คำเดิมที่สื่อความหมายใหม่ คำที่ร้อยเรียงขึ้นมาใหม่ คำที่แปรมาจากรากคำอื่นรวมทั้งการสนธิคำ คำปรากฏร่วมใหม่ และคำสร้างใหม่จากอักษรย่อ และพบกลวิธีการแปลคำสร้างใหม่ในฉบับแปล 6 กลวิธีคือ การทับศัพท์ การแปลตรงตัว การแปลตรงตัวประกอบทับศัพท์ การแปลตรงตัวประกอบตีความ การแปลตรงตัวและใช้อักษรย่อตามคำแปล และการตีความและ สรุปเก็บใจความ ในการเปรียบเทียบกลวิธีการแปลของนักแปลพบว่านักแปลใช้ทุกกลวิธีในการแปล คำสร้างใหม่ไปในทิศทางเดียวกันโดยพิจารณาจากลักษณะเด่นในองค์ประกอบของคำควบคู่ไปกับการพิจารณาบริบท และในการแปลคำสร้างใหม่แต่ละประเภท นักแปลใช้กลวิธีในการแปลที่หลากหลายโดยจะมีอย่างน้อยหนึ่งกลวิธีที่นักแปลใช้เหมือนกัน นอกจากนั้นเป็นการใช้กลวิธีที่เหมือนกันระหว่างสุมาลีกับวลีพร และ สุมาลีกับงามพรรณ เนื่องมาจากพบคำสร้างใหม่ในฉบับแปลของสุมาลีมากที่สุด

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาแนวทางการแปลข้อความที่มีลักษณะการให้คำนิยามในนวนิยายชุด A Series of Unfortunate Events เขียนโดย Lemony Snicket แปลโดย อาริตา พงศ์ธรานนท์ โดยศึกษาจากข้อความที่มีลักษณะการให้คำนิยามที่มี 4 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ 1) การอธิบายความหมายแบบตรงตัว 2) การอธิบายความหมายตามสถานการณ์ 3) การอธิบายความหมายด้วยการใช้ความหมายมากกว่าหนึ่งความหมาย และ 4) การอธิบายด้วยการหลากคำหรือการใช้คำที่ง่ายกว่าหรือซับซ้อนน้อยกว่า ทฤษฎีและงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องที่ใช้ประกอบการศึกษา ได้แก่ ทฤษฎีวาทกรรมวิเคราะห์ของ Christiane Nord ทฤษฎี Scene-and-frame Semantics ของ Charles J. Fillmore และแนวทางการแปลแบบตีความ (Interpretative Approach) ของ Jean Delisle โดยผู้วิจัยใช้ทฤษฎีดังกล่าวในการวิเคราะห์แนวทางการแปลข้อความที่มีลักษณะการให้คำนิยามว่าผู้แปลใช้วิธีการใดในการเลือกแปลข้อความลักษณะดังกล่าว หลังจากที่ได้นำทฤษฎีดังกล่าวข้างต้นมาวิเคราะห์แนวทางการแปลพบว่า ผู้แปลจำเป็นต้องวิเคราะห์ภาพ (Scene) ของต้นฉบับเพื่อให้เห็นภาพและความหมายที่ชัดเจนตามที่ผู้ประพันธ์ต้องการสื่อสาร ก่อนถ่ายทอดฉบับแปลโดยใช้รูปแบบ (Frame) ที่ทำให้เห็นภาพเช่นเดียวกันกับต้นฉบับ ซึ่งในการแปลข้อความที่มีลักษณะการให้คำนิยามทั้ง 4 รูปแบบ บางครั้งผู้แปลไม่สามารถแปลตรงตัวได้ จึงจำเป็นต้องปรับรูปแบบทางภาษาให้แตกต่างจากต้นฉบับโดยยึดความหมายเป็นหลักเพื่อให้ผู้อ่านฉบับแปลเห็นภาพเช่นเดียวกับผู้อ่านต้นฉบับ กรณีที่ผู้แปลไม่สามารถแปลแบบตรงตัวได้ ผู้แปลจึงใช้วิธีอื่นในการแก้ปัญหาการแปล เช่น การแปลโดยการอธิบายขยายความ หรือการเลือกที่จะตัดเนื้อความบางส่วนเพื่อให้ข้อความที่มีลักษณะการให้คำนิยามเป็นเหตุเป็นผลในภาษาไทย

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้จัดทำขึ้นด้วยวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะของวัจนลีลา วิเคราะห์ปัญหา การแปล รวมถึงแก้ปัญหาโดยการหาแนวทางการแปล เพื่อถ่ายทอดวัจนลีลาในนวนิยายอิงประวัติศาสตร์เรื่อง Days Without End ของเซบาสเตียน แบร์รี อันไม่เป็นไปตามขนบการประพันธ์นวนิยายบางส่วน ให้ได้บทแปลที่ทำหน้าที่ทั้งสื่อความหมาย และให้อรรถรสแก่ผู้อ่านได้ใกล้เคียงกับต้นฉบับ การถ่ายทอดวัจนลีลาเริ่มจากการศึกษาแนวคิดและระเบียบวิธีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการศึกษาวัจนลีลาประเภทต่าง ๆ ได้แก่ ทฤษฎีวัจนลีลา ของ พอล ซิมป์สัน (Paul Simpson) ทฤษฎีวัจนลีลาเชิงวจนปฏิบัติศาสตร์ ของ เอลิซาเบธ แบล็ค (Elizabeth Black) และแนวทางการแปลวัจนลีลา ของ ฌ็อง โบส-ไบเออร์ (Jean Boase-Beier) รวมถึงลักษณะการประกอบสร้างทางภาษาเพื่อสร้างความ โดดเด่นให้กับวัจนลีลา และผลงานด้านการแปลวัจนลีลาที่มีลักษณะคล้ายคลึงกันอันปรากฎในวรรณกรรมเรื่องอื่น หลังจากที่ผู้วิจัยได้รวบรวมแนวคิด ระเบียบวิธี และทฤษฎีข้างต้นแล้วนำมาประยุกต์ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์และการแปลเพื่อถ่ายทอดวัจนลีลา พบว่าความรู้ที่ได้จากการศึกษาเหล่านั้นสามารถช่วยแก้ปัญหาการถ่ายทอดวัจนลีลาจากภาษาของต้นฉบับให้เป็นภาษาปลายทางได้เป็นผลสาเร็จ อย่างไรก็ตาม ยังต้องอาศัยองค์ประกอบด้านความรู้ทางประวัติศาสตร์และบริบททางสังคมที่เป็นฉากหลังของ นวนิยายอย่างละเอียดลึกซึ้ง เพื่อช่วยในการทำความเข้าใจเนื้อหาและสารของผู้ประพันธ์อันสะท้อนผ่านวัจนลีลาเหล่านั้นให้ได้ดียิ่งขึ้น

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการแปลประโยคเคล็ฟต์ที่ใช้สรรพนาม ‘it’ ประเภท Dummy subject ในตัวบทนวนิยาย จากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทย และเพื่อประมวลกลวิธีการแปลจากกรณีศึกษาเรื่อง The Murder of Roger Ackroyd ของอกาธา คริสตี้ และหนังสือแปลเรื่อง คดีฆาตกรรมโรเจอร์ แอ็กครอยด์ โดยพิรุณรัตน์ เนื่องจากภาษาไทยไม่มีโครงสร้างประโยคที่เทียบเท่ากันทางความหมายกับโครงสร้างประโยคเคล็ฟต์ จึงอาจเป็นปัญหาการแปลที่สำคัญได้ งานวิจัยนี้มุ่งเน้นที่ประโยคเคล็ฟต์ที่ใช้สรรพนาม ‘it’ ประเภท Dummy subject จานวน 63 ประโยค และกลวิธีการแปลสองระดับ ได้แก่ ระดับโครงสร้างประโยคและระดับคำ ผลการวิเคราะห์เชิงปริมาณสรุปได้ว่า กลวิธีการแปลระดับโครงสร้างประโยคใช้การปรับโครงสร้างประโยคใหม่จำนวน 60 ครั้ง คิดเป็นร้อยละ 95.24 และใช้การรักษาโครงสร้างประโยคตามต้นฉบับจำนวน 3 ครั้ง คิดเป็นร้อยละ 4.76 ในการปรับโครงสร้างประโยคใหม่พบว่าผู้แปลใช้การหาประธาน หรือการปรับส่วนใด ส่วนหนึ่งของประโยคเป็นประธานมากที่สุด จำนวน 44 ครั้ง คิดเป็นร้อยละ 73.33 รองลงมาได้แก่การเปลี่ยนประโยคเป็นวลี ส่วนกลวิธีการแปลระดับคำใช้การเติมคำเน้นมากที่สุด จำนวน 17 ครั้ง คิดเป็นร้อยละ 26.98 รองลงมาได้แก่การเติมลักษณนาม ผลการวิเคราะห์เชิงคุณภาพสรุปได้ว่า การแปลประโยคเคล็ฟต์ในนวนิยายเรื่องนี้ นักแปลใช้กลวิธี การปรับบทแปลระดับโครงสร้างประโยคและระดับคำร่วมกัน โดยไม่รักษารูปแบบโครงสร้างประโยคเคล็ฟต์เสมอไป แต่ยังคงรักษาหน้าที่และเจตนาในการสื่อสารของโครงสร้างประโยคเคล็ฟต์ ซึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นแนวทาง การแปลที่นักแปลอาศัยการตีความและทำความเข้าใจความหมายโดยนัยที่สื่อผ่านการใช้ประโยคเคล็ฟต์เป็นหลักก่อน แล้วจึงถ่ายทอดความหมายนั้นเป็นภาษาปลายทางอย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ สอดคล้องกับแนวทางการแปลแบบตีความที่เดอลีลส์ (1988) นำเสนอ ทฤษฎี Skopostheorie ที่ไร้ส์และแฟร์เมียร์ (1984) นำเสนอ และทฤษฎีวัจนกรรมที่เฮอนิกช์และคุสเมาล์ (1982) นำมาใช้ในการแปล

สารนิพนธ์เล่มนี้เป็นการศึกษาการแปลมุกตลกในตัวบทที่คัดสรรจากการ์ตูนเรื่อง พีนัทส์ ของ ชาลส์ เอ็ม ชูลซ์ สมมติฐานในการวิจัยคือ การแปลมุกตลกในตัวบทที่คัดสรรอาจใช้แนวทางของเคลาส์ ไคน์เดิล (Klaus Kaindl) เพื่อวิเคราะห์ตัวบทตามลักษณะสำคัญและโครงสร้างของการ์ตูนช่อง แนวคิด Visual Narrative Grammar ของ นีล โคห์น (Neil Cohn) เพื่อวิเคราะห์ลำดับการเล่าเรื่อง รายงานการวิจัยการนำเสนอความตลกที่รวบรวมโดย นารีรัตน์ บุญช่วย และทฤษฎีอารมณ์ขัน 3 ทฤษฎี ได้แก่ ทฤษฎีข่มท่าน (Disparage Theory) ของ โทมัส ฮอบส์ (Thomas Hobbes) ทฤษฎีผิดฝาผิดตัว (Incongruity Theory) ของ อิมมานูเอล คานต์ (Immanuel Kant) และทฤษฎีปลดปล่อย (Release Theory) ของ ซีคมุนท์ ฟร็อยท์ (Sigmund Freud) เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะและกลวิธีการสร้างมุกตลกและวิเคราะห์มุกตลก รวมทั้งกลวิธีการแปล แบบตีความ (Interpretive Approach) และแนวทางการจัดการทางภาษา (Language Manipulation) ของฌอง เดอลิล (Jean Delisle) เพื่อแปลตัวบทให้เกิดสมมูลภาพเทียบเท่ากับตัวบทต้นฉบับทั้งในด้าน โครงสร้างและความหมาย ผลการศึกษาคือ แนวทางของเคลาส์ ไคน์เดิล และ Visual Narrative Grammar ของ นีล โคห์น สามารถใช้วิเคราะห์ตัวบทโดยรวมและลำดับการเล่าเรื่องของตัวบทที่คัดสรรได้ตามลำดับ และการ วิเคราะห์มุกตลกในตัวบทที่คัดสรรนั้นสามารถใช้การนำเสนอความตลกที่รวบรวมโดย นารีรัตน์ บุญช่วย และ ทฤษฎีอารมณ์ขัน 3 ทฤษฎี ได้แก่ ทฤษฎีข่มท่าน ของ โทมัส ฮอบส์ ทฤษฎีผิดฝาผิดตัว ของ อิมมานูเอล คานต์ และทฤษฎีปลดปล่อย ของ ซีคมุนท์ ฟร็อยท์ ได้ …
