The study examines the challenges encountered in the implementation of the Vertical Land Consolidation (VLC) program, which primarily focuses on providing homes through the Kampung Improvement Program in Jakarta Province. VLC, or Vertical Land Consolidation, is an essential approach to improving the security of land ownership and the quality of housing in densely populated, degenerated metropolitan areas that face numerous obstacles. A significant challenge is the requirement for voluntary involvement from a minimum of 60% of people in the area, emphasizing the importance of bottom-up planning. The “La Jolla Park Coastal Historic District,” a dramatic stretch of coastline that is part of the unceded ancient homeland and traditional territory of the Kumeyaay Nation, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 9, 2024. The coastal area, anchored by Ellen Browning Scripps Park, was the focal point for La Jolla’s planning and development between 1887 and 1940.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought into focus that outdoor activities in natural settings have a positive impact on mental health, and individuals participating in outdoor activity report higher rates of emotional well-being than individuals who do not participate in such activity. Biophilic design is an architectural practice that aims to connect people to nature through design concepts with one of the benefits being psychological. Other benefits of biophilic design include improvements to environmental quality, physical health, support of animal species and habitats, and more resilient and energy-efficient cities.

In North American cities, the land use and transportation systems are associated with low-density, suburban-type urban development, where the built environment contributes to a mobility pattern that is extremely reliant on automobiles. Several studies in the past decades have documented noticeable and concerning patterns of unjust and unsustainable transportation in this context. As a result, for those population groups with limited access to private transportation, this form of urban structure is equivalent to limited access to opportunities, leading to various environmental and social problems. This thesis analyzes the current state of High-Speed Rail (HSR) development within the United States and the reasoning behind its historical failure. Through frameworks such as funding and organizational structure of public or private entities (or both), this paper focuses on three case studies: The Northeast Corridor Improvement Project, Florida’s Brightline, and the California High-Speed Rail Project. With an additional scope of organizational studies, this thesis assesses the current state of HSR within the U.S. and considers approaches that could work best, given well-documented hindrances. The downtown commercial building at 154 East Chicago Blvd in Tecumseh, MI represents the typical building style of the late 1800s. It reflects the building styles and materials common to the area using such as fired brick and limestone, decorative cast iron columns and galvanized metal cornice, all typical in the Midwest in the late 19th century. This project analyzes how this commercial building has adapted to meet the needs of a small town in Tecumseh, Michigan, in southeast lower Michigan.

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะบริบทโดยรอบและลักษณะการเชื่อมต่อระบบขนส่งรูปแบบอื่นๆบริเวณท่าเรือด่วนเจ้าพระยา เพื่อหาศักยภาพและข้อจำกัดพร้อมทั้งเสนอแนะแนวทางในการแก้ไขปัญหาและพัฒนาพื้นที่เชื่อมต่อบริเวณท่าเรือด่วนเจ้าพระยา โดยการหาความสัมพันธ์ของจำนวนผู้โดยสารกับลักษณะบริบทโดยรอบและลักษณะการเชื่อมต่อระบบขนส่งรูปแบบอื่นๆ รวมทั้งพิจารณาข้อมูลด้านการใช้ประโยชน์อาคารประเภทต่างๆ ข้อมูลด้านประเภทและจำนวนระบบขนส่งรูปแบบอื่นๆที่รองรับ ข้อมูลด้านระยะห่างที่ใกล้ที่สุดระหว่างท่าเรือถึงจุดระบบขนส่งรูปแบบอื่นๆ และข้อมูลด้านระยะทางที่ไกลที่สุดในการขนส่งของระบบขนส่งรูปแบบอื่นๆ งานวิจัยนี้ใช้วิธีการวิเคราะห์สหสัมพันธ์ (Correlation Analysis) ร่วมกับการเปรียบเทียบปริมาณผู้โดยสารกับกลุ่มคุณลักษณะท่าเรือด่วนเจ้าพระยาเพื่อหาข้อบ่งชี้สำคัญ และนำมาสรุปศักยภาพและข้อจำกัดของพื้นที่เชื่อมต่อบริเวณท่าเรือด่วนเจ้าพระยาที่เกิดขึ้นผลการศึกษาพบว่าศักยภาพของพื้นที่เชื่อมต่อบริเวณท่าเรือด่วนเจ้าพระยาไม่ได้ขึ้นอยู่กับความหนาแน่นการใช้ประโยชน์อาคาร ความหลากหลายการใช้ประโยชน์อาคาร และการใช้ประโยชน์อาคารในแต่ละประเภท ตามแนวคิดการพัฒนาพื้นที่โดยรอบสถานีระบบขนส่งมวลชน (TOD) แต่เกิดจากความสามารถในการเชื่อมต่อกับระบบขนส่งรูปแบบอื่นๆ เพื่อเปลี่ยนถ่ายการเดินทางเป็นหลัก ทั้งในด้านของระบบขนส่งมวลชนเสริม ทางเลือกในการเดินทางที่หลากหลาย ความสะดวกสบายในการเชื่อมต่อเรือ-ราง รวมทั้งสถานที่สำคัญที่ตั้งอยู่บริเวณโดยรอบท่าเรือก็เป็นอีกหนึ่งในศักยภาพที่ทำให้เกิดการเดินทางด้วยเรือด่วนเจ้าพระยาเช่นกัน นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าข้อจำกัดของพื้นที่เชื่อมต่อที่เกิดขึ้นมาจากตำแหน่งที่ตั้งท่าเรือที่มีข้อจำกัดด้านการพัฒนาหรืออยู่ห่างจากถนนสายหลักในลักษณะของซอยลึกตัน ทำให้ขาดความสามารถในการเชื่อมต่อระบบขนส่งรูปแบบอื่นๆ ซึ่งส่งผลให้มีการใช้งานท่าเรือแค่เพียงบางช่วงเวลาเท่านั้น

Moonshine Babies is a two-screen film made of collage/cut-out stop-motion and live-action. It is a visual poem based on my journals from when I recently started living in the US as an outsider. The experience left me feeling divided between the empty present and memories of the past. suggesting that there are collective memories among a group of interconnected individuals that unite them within a single narrative.

For 15 years, I have been a volunteer at a shelter for women and children. I interact with families and women who are suffering from the trauma caused by homelessness and domestic violence. In my observations, I have learned some spaces are more conducive to the staff and resident experiences than others. This project will be addressing how transitional housing for women and children can be designed to support the healing of trauma caused by domestic violence.

This study investigated the developments and current status of stakeholders involved in preserving wooden heritage in Thailand, specifically from the government, private sectors, and academia. The methodologies consisted of documentary analyses, in-depth interviews, and on-site observations of wooden conservation sites.  The findings revealed three periods in the development of wooden built heritage: government-led building registration, the evolution of conservation approaches by various stakeholders including private and academic entities, and a collaborative phase emphasizing intangible aspects such as craftsmanship.
