Is Attendance Really Declining At Games?: An Analysis Of Walk-Ins Versus Web Counts, Travis Clamon, Richard L. Wallace, Nakia J. Woodward

Objectives: The purpose is to see if there is a relationship between declining walk-in visitor counts and increased library web access. The overall objective is to evaluate library services and find better and more efficient ways to meet the needs of walk-in and virtual patrons. Methods: Compile past five years of walk-in visitor statistics from the library. Retrieve past five years of website statistics from Google Analytics. These two sets of data will be compared and analyzed for any correlation. We hypothesize the data will show a steady decrease in walk-in visitors along with a continued increase in website visitors. …

A presentation on the preservation of photographic collections with the basics of photo preservation including process identification and deterioration, as well as standards and best practices. Also a discussion of the realities many institutions face in their efforts to preserve collections of photographs, with constraints caused by limitations in time, space and money, and with these constraints in mind,with a few tips for safeguarding photographs within the accepted minimum levels of protection.

This presentation describes a systematic way to go about selecting the best Discovery Tool for your institution. Selection is much more than pricing, vendor demonstrations or recommendations from a few colleagues. How do you go from an administrative decision to add a discovery service to the final decision? This presentation will outline the steps taken by the Discovery Task Force at Georgia Southern University which included selecting a service based on a set of criteria, implementation, as well as faculty and staff training.

Tracing The Source Of Irrigation: An Examination Of Colorado Ditch Company Collections In Archival Repositories, Patricia J. Rettig

The history of irrigation is significant in the western United States, which has now experienced over 150 years of irrigation development. When considered fully, the history of Western irrigation goes beyond agriculture and extends to engineering, economics, business, sociology, law, politics, ecology, and more. The historical understanding to be gained from any of these viewpoints depends on the preservation and accessibility of original records created by irrigators. In the West, ditch company records are the earliest and best source of irrigation history.
