According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “In 2016, a total of 63,632 persons in the United States died from drug overdoses; the age-adjusted rate was 19.8 deaths per 100,000 persons.” There have been countless programs with the sole purpose of reducing the amount of drug related deaths. Some with positive outcomes and others with negative outcomes. Since there is no feasible method of eradicating the problem as a whole, the next logical thing to do would to be creating effect prevention programs.

Emergency Treatment Orders (ETOs) are defined by Florida Law as an immediate administration of rapid response psychotropic medications to a person with the purpose of expeditiously treat symptoms that if left untreated, present an immediate danger to the safety of the person or others. Current literature have revealed the effectiveness of psychotropic drugs in treating agitation, however epidemiological studies on this practice are still very lacking.

The primary focus of this study was to examine the differences between trainees’ perceived self-efficacy when they graduate from a counseling program that has a community based mental health training clinic versus a program without a training clinic. A web-based survey was developed with the questions from the Counseling Self-Efficacy Inventory (COSE) (Larson et al., 1992) and 45 (N = 45) participants took the survey online. The disclosure of trauma is almost completely unavoidable in first-year composition. We encounter an issue with instructor feedback; how do we provide feedback to student writing, like grammar and mechanics, when the student has disclosed trauma in the writing? Dementia caregiving is expensive, stressful, and consumes all facets of the caregiver’s (CGs) life. The purpose of this project is to introduce the evidence-based practice (EBP) interventions most helpful in decreasing stress and burden in those who are in-home caregivers for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) individuals.

The three primary intervention domains of the EBP studies that results in a positive impact are; providing education about the terminal course of the disease, introducing communication and caregiving skills, and furnishing resource and social network information.

Approximately one third of patients with schizophrenia fail to respond to dopamine-blocking antipsychotic medications. While treatment resistant schizophrenia (TRS) is generally thought to be present from the onset of first episode psychosis (FEP), prospective identification of these patients remains clinically challenging. We investigated the association of glutamate, and glutathione with time to response in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) of minimally-treated patients with FEP (n=26) and healthy controls (n= 27) using an ultra-high field 7T MRI protocol. Higher ACC glutathione at baseline was associated with decreased time to achieve 50% symptom improvement. There were no significant differences between patients and …

However, limited research has compared the content of validated questionnaires with subjective patient experiences shared online. The aim of this study was to therefore identify and compare the content of psychiatric care experiences shared online with validated questionnaires. Currently, in Oregon, there is no mental health-screening requirement for youth admitted into detention centers or correctional facilities. In 2014, there were approximately 7.9 million adults in the United States with co-occurring Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Substance Use Disorders (SUD) (SAMHSA, 2014). Of the veterans who served in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan alone, 30% of those in SUD treatment also meet the criteria for PTSD (Seal et al, 2008, pp. 476). Furthermore, statistics show that about 20 Veterans in the United States complete suicide daily (Spiva, 2019, p. 8). For the thesis, I adapted two exercises from Clark’s DBT-Informed Art Therapy. My research method was arts-based grounded theory, referencing Corbin’s grounded theory and Wadeson and Allen’s thinking on the use of art for professional processing.
