Problem Children’s Hospital A's incidence report tool, iCares, demonstrates that 50% of the issues related to prolonged intravenous (IV) antibiotics are categorized as administration issues. This leads to the medication being delivered at the wrong time or rate. Having these issues increases patient length of stay, increasing hospital costs. Context The microsystems for this quality improvement project include inpatient pediatric patient care units (PCU) 300, 360, and 400. Children’s Hospital A is a 361-bed San Francisco Bay Area hospital. This review paper provides an overview of the current status of substance abuse, involving both illicit drugs and medically regulated medications. Although global statistics are considered, the primary focus is the substance abuse crisis within the United States. Through review of experimental and observational peer-reviewed articles, this report examines the definition of substance abuse, demographic impacts, and governmental interventions, with particular emphasizes on the role of the pharmacy profession and individual pharmacists in addressing this widespread issue.

Asthma, a serious global health problem, has been an area of interest due to its increasing prevalence, expanding treatment costs, and rising burden on patients and the community. Since asthma cannot be cured, clinical episodes can be prevented and controlled by adequate management and sufficient knowledge of the disease. Appropriate treatment may relieve asthma symptoms and improve quality of life. Experimental Oximes As Organophosphate Preexposure Prophylaxis. Lessons From The Gulf War Syndrome, Dietrich Lorke, Syed M. Nurulain, Kamil Kuca

The present study was undertaken in order to determine if established or experimental K-oximes can protect from OP (paraoxon) toxicity. Rats that received only the OP were compared with those that had received oxime pretreatment before OP exposure. Best protection from paraoxon-induced mortality was observed after pretreatment with K-48. The other oximes were significantly less efficacious, but still significantly reduced the RR compared to the no-treatment group (paraoxon only). The FDA-approved agent for prophylaxis was least efficacious. The protective efficacy was unrelated to AChE inhibition.

In Medical Oncology, the utilization of EPIC-Beacon Treatment Plans is integral for prescribing and administering cancer treatments. These treatment plans typically consist of anticancer infusion medications (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, etc.), supportive care medications, required laboratory orders, and other monitoring recommendations to ensure that patients receive safe and effective care. In 2017, TJUH transitioned from Varian’s Aria to EPIC’s electronic medical record system. Since then, there has not been a formal review of existing plans, and there are many inconsistencies between plans in different cancer types.

The study aims to compare the levels of absorption and potential health effects of systemic exposure to these sunscreen ingredients in the United States.

This necessitates a comprehensive review to guide clinicians in adopting evidence based and patient centric approaches to treat stage IIIB-IIID melanoma. MicroRNAs, especially miR-17, contribute to cell cycle regulation and proliferation. Recent investigations have highlighted the dysregulated expression of miR-17 in various malignancies, underlining its potential role in cancer. Nanogels have emerged as a notably safer and more effective means for drug delivery, primarily due to their adjustable drug-loading capabilities. Hollow-core nanoparticles offer some unique properties that are desirable for drug delivery applications. Initially, silica core nanoparticles were synthesized using the Stöber process at different temperatures where Tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) undergoes hydrolysis in the presence of ethanol and then a condensation reaction to form silica nanoparticles. Introduction

The pathophysiology of keloid formation is poorly understood, and current treatments, including intralesional corticosteroids, cryotherapy, and surgery, are often associated with high resistance to treatment and recurrence. The multifactorial pathogenesis of keloid formation suggests that aberrant inflammatory cytokine signaling associated with keratinocyte dysregulation may contribute to keloid-associated pruritus.

Case Presentation

In this paper, we report 2 cases of keloid-associated pruritus that were successfully treated with topical crisaborole 2% ointment, a phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitor.
