This dissertation is an arts-based auto-criticism assessing the author's experience in her doctoral program. It is also perhaps the first dissertation elaborating on a method called auto-criticism, as derived from educational criticism and connoisseurship. The process of inquiry is rooted in arts-based methods of representation and theories of educational criticism and critical theory in the humanities. Purpose: To describe the perceptions of peer evaluation as an instructional method when used by entry-level doctor of physical therapy (DPT) students as preparation for practical examinations within a clinically oriented course.

Methods/Description: Forty first year, entry-level doctor of physical therapy students participated in structured peer-skills checks prior to practical exams as part a clinically based course. Each student was required to observe and provide critical feedback for at least four other students as they performed simulated patient care activities. The Short Assist Scales: Measurement Properties In A Sample Of Occupational Therapy Students In The Usa, Tore Bonsaksen, Adele Breen-Franklin

Journal of Occupational Therapy Education

Shortening measurement scales can improve the scales’ feasibility, but at the same time, their measurement properties can be affected. This study investigated psychometric properties of the short Approaches and Study Skills Inventory for Students (ASSIST) among occupational therapy students in the United States. The students (n = 120) completed the ASSIST and provided basic socio-demographic and education-related information. Scale structure was examined with Principal Components Analysis (PCA), while consistency between scale items was assessed with Cronbach’s α and inter-item correlations. The target course for this benchmark portfolio is METR 100: Weather and Climate, an introductory-level course about Earth’s weather and climate. Students enrolled span all undergraduate class levels and during the spring semester most students are non-science majors. Through the Peer Review of Teaching Project, this course was re-designed to better align the course objectives with the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s Achievement Centered Education (ACE) program. The number of topics covered during the semester was reduced and time spent practicing skills was increased in an effort to improve student attainment of course goals.

This portfolio explores and documents student learning in a required first-year law course, Legal Analysis, Research and Writing. This portfolio focuses on two specific course learning objectives: (1) organizing a legal argument (CRAC or a variation) and (2) explaining legal rules. This case study at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach campus (ERAU-DB) describes the process of facilitating a faculty peer observation model that uses asynchronous electronic feedback through the Teaching Partners program offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE). This practical, hybrid model of peer observation builds on practices found in current models and uses digital recording and web-based software to encourage faculty feedback that will positively impact their pedagogical practice. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์ปัจจัยการเปลี่ยนแปลงและผลกระทบที่มีต่อมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทยในอนาคต ประเมินศักยภาพความพร้อมของมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทยสู่ตำแหน่งทางยุทธศาสตร์ และนำเสนอรูปแบบกระบวนการแปลงสภาพองค์การสู่ตำแหน่งทางยุทธศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทย ประชากรและกลุ่มตัวอย่างในการวิจัยนี้แบ่งออกได้ 5 กลุ่ม รวมจำนวน 33 คน ใช้วิธีการเลือกแบบเจาะจง ได้แก่ 1) กลุ่มผู้ที่ให้ข้อมูลปัจจัยการเปลี่ยนแปลงและผลกระทบที่มีต่อมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทย ได้แก่ ผู้บริหารด้านนโยบายการอุดมศึกษา ผู้แทนคณะกรรมการองค์กรเครือข่ายการบริหารมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทย อธิการบดีหรือผู้บริหารระดับสูงของมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทย และผู้แทนองค์กรภาคธุรกิจ จำนวน 10 คน 2) กลุ่มผู้ที่ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับจุดเน้นและการประเมินตนเอง ได้แก่ ผู้ประเมินการประกันคุณภาพระดับสถาบันตามเกณฑ์เครือข่ายการประกันคุณภาพมหาวิทยาลัยอาเซียน เกณฑ์คุณภาพการศึกษาเพื่อการดำเนินการที่เป็นเลิศ เกณฑ์สำนักงานรับรองมาตรฐานและประเมินคุณภาพการศึกษา (องค์การมหาชน) และเกณฑ์สำนักงานคณะกรรมการการอุดมศึกษา จำนวน 8 คน 3) กลุ่มผู้ที่ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับการผลิตบัณฑิตตามจุดเน้นที่เป็นตำแหน่งทางยุทธศาสตร์ ได้แก่ ผู้แทนองค์กรภาคธุรกิจ ภาครัฐ และ รัฐวิสาหกิจ จำนวน 6 คน 4) กลุ่มผู้บริหารมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทยที่ทดลองใช้เครื่องมือที่ผู้วิจัยได้พัฒนาขึ้น จำนวน 1 สถาบัน และ 5) กลุ่มผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและผู้บริหารสถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชน จำนวน 7 คน ในการจัดทำการสนทนากลุ่ม สำหรับเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ได้แก่ แบบวิเคราะห์สาระ แบบสัมภาษณ์ แบบตรวจสอบและประเมิน ซึ่งเครื่องมือวิจัยทุกชุดได้รับการตรวจสอบจากผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า มหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทยจำเป็นต้องปรับตัวโดยการแปลงสภาพองค์การไปสู่จุดเน้นหรือตำแหน่งทางยุทธศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยต้องประเมินศักยภาพความพร้อมของสถาบันใน 2 ด้าน คือ บริบทและองค์ประกอบ ซึ่งจะทำทราบถึงระดับศักยภาพและความพร้อมในด้านต่าง ๆ การศึกษาพัฒนารูปแบบกระบวนการแปลงสภาพองค์การสู่ตำแหน่งทางยุทธศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทย ประกอบไปด้วย 4 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1) การประเมินเพื่อการแปลงสภาพองค์การ 2) การวางแผนการแปลงสภาพองค์การ 3) การนำโปรแกรมการแปลงสภาพองค์การไปสู่การปฏิบัติ และ 4) การตรวจสอบ ติดตามการแปลงสภาพองค์การ ประกอบการใช้กลยุทธ์การดำเนินงาน (PRIME) เพื่อยกระดับและพัฒนาศักยภาพความพร้อมในมิติต่าง ๆ สู่ตำแหน่งทางยุทธศาสตร์ ทั้งที่เป็นมิติความพร้อมเชิงบริบทของมหาวิทยาลัยและมิติความพร้อมเชิงองค์ประกอบให้บรรลุผลตามเป้าหมายร่วมกัน โดยรูปแบบกระบวนการแปลงสภาพองค์การสู่ตำแหน่งทางยุทธศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนไทยตามผลการศึกษานี้สามารถเรียกชื่อว่า “4 Trans-Process Model”

Missing from the discussions of inequitable treatment of employees in higher education are the experiences of staff members. In work interactions, staff are frequently treated differently (often as inferiors), depending on their level of education and their role in the hierarchy on the non-academic side of an institution (Anonymous, 2006; Young, Anderson & Stewart, 2015). This difference in treatment has been termed, “rankism” in the broad sense or “hierarchical microaggressions” for smaller incidents and is especially troublesome as higher education is presumed to create upward mobility and lead towards a more equitable society (Young et al., 2015).

The number of Tennessee students increasingly enrolled in postsecondary institutions since the introduction of Tennessee Promise (TN Promise); however, program requirements coupled with counselor behaviors related to TN Promise may lead to academic undermatch. This researcher used a qualitative research design to investigate the responses of high school guidance counselors in rural school districts in East Tennessee. Eight high school counselors participated in the study. Data analysis revealed that high school counselors encourage all eligible students to enroll in TN Promise without considering academic match. Discrimination towards people who identify as trans/non-binary (NB) is still extremely well documented and pervasive across many different demographics. Discussions on religious, secular, or spiritual (RSS) identities and trans/NB identities are often fraught with difficult conflicts between the two. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have attracted global audiences who desire to learn. However, the completion rate of these courses is less than 10 percent. Few studies have systematically researched the influence of expectation-confirmation theory (ECT) and user experience (e.g., flow experience, perceived interest) on user satisfaction of and the continuance intention to use MOOCs.
