In today’s business environment the top down approach to management has fundamentally disappeared. Baby boomers, gen x and gen y managers bring different management styles and thinking to global organizations. This paper identifies eight current research articles (published within the past five years) that synthesize and apply four trends in strategic management that are crucial for the field in the future. The four trends are ranked 1-4, with 1 being most important. The ranking are justified.

This paper examines the relationship between national culture, organizational culture and supply chain performance in the Japanese Automotive Industry. To do this it compares and contrasts organization behavior and performance at Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi. It concludes that whilst extant theory predicts at the national etic level that the Japanese collectivist culture would have high performing internal supply chains that the reverse can occur at the organizational emic level without intervention. Follow Me: Strategies Used By Emergent Leaders In Virtual Organizations, Lindred Greer, Karen Jehn

In this multi-method study, we investigated the strategies used by members who emerged as leaders in organizations communicating primarily via e-mail communication. We hypothesized and found that members who emerged as leaders tended to rely on soft influence tactics, were consistent in their usage of a certain influence tactic, and participated in e-mail exchanges more than other members. Additionally, we found that e-mail style moderated the relationship between soft tactic usage and emergent leadership, such that members who used weak e-mail style when using soft tactics were more likely to emerge as leaders. This article argues that leadership development is a process of seduction.Drawing on some stories of leadership development from my experience as participant, observer and teacher I show the ways in which certain sorts of highly valued leadership teaching contain seductive elements, including sweeping audiences off their feet and, in some contexts, forestalling critique about the content that is offered. The article also considers the extent to which seduction is a gendered performance. I conclude that, while gender and power are defining elements and constraints in how seductive pedagogical relations are constructed, there are opportunities for experimentation and display that potentially …
