As a result, materials such as those presented here may reflect sexist, misogynistic, abusive, racist, or discriminatory attitudes or actions that some may find disturbing, harmful, or difficult to view.
Both a humor and literary magazine, The Pine Needle was a University of Maine student-produced periodical that began publication in the fall of 1946, the first post-World War II semester that saw GIs returning to campus.
The Needle reflected an edginess and rebellion not found in previous UMaine student publications. While …

Preface: The Reconstruction period in Tennessee was dominated by the Unionists of the eastern part of the state. It is the purpose of this study to show the results of this domination as reflected in social and economic conditions, education, and the status of the Negro in the home region of the East Tennessee leaders.

James Brown was born in Virginia in 1766, son of the reverend John Brown, a Presbyterian minister. He was educated in his father’s schools and at William and Mary College. Trained for the law, he mowed to Kentucky to be with his brother John. The latter, also a lawyer, was prominent, serving in the U. S. Senate, 1792-1806.
President Washington appointed James Brown attorney for Kentucky in 1790. CM admission of Kentucky to statehood, the Governor named Brown secretary of state for a four year term. Brown moved to New Orleans in 1804. Jefferson appointed him successively secretary of the …

The morning's tour suggested here has Guinness's Brewery at St. James's Gate as its objective, and gives an opportunity of seeing several other places of interest on the way. Flight was a student newspaper published bi-weekly by The Ellensburg Capital Printing Co., Ellensburg, Washington, for the Army Air Forces Students of the 314th College Training Detachment in cooperation with facilities of the United States Army Air Forces Public Relations. The 314th C.T.D. was activated February 19, 1943. On May 1, 1944 the 314th C.T.D. was disbanded and subsequently reactivated as the 3058th AAF Base Unit.
