Collections of material samples to support teaching and research in art, architecture, and design disciplines are increasingly created and administered through academic libraries. Providing a unique and valuable hands-on and immersive experience, materials collections offer broad appeal across multiple disciplines and respond to curricular trends that emphasize critical and design thinking skills for students as future practitioners. This project aimed to provide the Department with a roadmap for its Resource Library, an online repository containing resources emanating from the projects funded by the OLT and its predecessors. The roadmap is to address both technical and management considerations in order to ensure the repository’s sustainability and engagement with the higher education learning and teaching community in Australia and beyond. The project conducted a literature review and prepared a briefing paper for participants in a nationwide consultation exercise around the future of the Resource Library. Saving The Stratton:The Fate Of The Sheldon Jackson College Library Collection, Ginny Blackson, Mattias Olshausen

On June 29, 2007, Alaska’s oldest educational institution, Sheldon Jackson College, ceased operations without notice. The closure left an uncertain future for the college’s students, faculty, staff, resources, and buildings including the Stratton Library and the over 48,000 items housed within. The Library’s collection not only contained the college’s academic collection, but it also housed two rare book collections, historical photos and plate glass negatives, as well as the archives documenting the school’s 128-year history. This article will track the relocation and current status of the Sheldon Jackson College archives and C.L. Andrews rare book collection.

Adoption of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has been one of the most challenging issues in developing part of the world. Uptake of new ICT innovations involves fulfilling many requirements ranging from technical to human resources. This study investigated factors influencing administrative staffs toward the adoption of cloud computing. Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model serves as an assessment framework to understand administrative staffs’ behavioral intention towards cloud computing. Nigerian literature has focused more on the general concept of e-resources without dedicated attention to e-books. This work takes a critical look at the challenges related to e-books collection and management in Nigerian universities. The study was conducted among six federal universities in Nigeria; one from each geo-political zone of the federation. A survey research design was utilized to carry out the study with structured interview conducted for system librarians of the six university libraries. While there is proliferation of e-books in the libraries, absence of local titles, budgeting, consortium and awareness of DRM issues remain obvious challenges.
