Kabupaten Jember masih menghadapi masalah gizi gangguan akibat kekurangan iodium (GAKI), sebagian besar kecamatannya termasuk dalam kategori daerah endemik GAKI. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah faktor goitrogenik sianida yang mengganggu pembentukan hormon tiroid. Keberadaannya pada beberapa sayuran yang biasa dikonsumsi masyarakat menyebabkan diperlukannya pola konsumsi dan proses pengolahan yang baik agar aman dikonsumsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengubah pola konsumsi goitrogenik sianida dan cara pengolahannya melalui penyuluhan gizi dan demonstrasi cara pengolahan pangan sumber goitrogenik sianida yang benar. Kabupaten Banyumas merupakan kabupaten endemis malaria di Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Data Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Banyumas tahun 2008 - 2013 menunjukkan angka annual paracite incidence (API) yang selalu mengalami fluktuasi. Dari 27 kecamatan, 22 di antaranya termasuk dalam kategori medium case incidence (MCI) dan low case incidence (LCI). Kebijakan pusat pelayanan kesehatan masyarakat (puskesmas) sebagai Badan Layanan Umum Daerah (BLUD) diimplentasikan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan dasar. Kebijakan BLUD puskesmas telah diterapkan di Kabupaten Gianyar sejak tahun 2010 dan berlaku pada puskesmas perawatan maupun nonperawatan. Pelaksanaan BLUD puskesmas tidak selalu meningkatkan mutu layanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui gambaran mutu pelayanan puskesmas perawatan yang berstatus BLUD di Kabupaten Gianyar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pemakaian kelambu berinsektisida dengan kejadian malaria pada anak usia 0-4 tahun di wilayah Puskesmas Galang Kecamatan Galang Kota Batam tahun 2013. Desain penelitian adalah potong lintang pada 132 responden. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa pada tingkat signifikansi 5% terdapat hubungan bermakna antara jenis kelambu (OR = 4,6), lama pemakaian kelambu (OR = 2,9), cara pencucian kelambu (OR = 3,6), cara menjemur kelambu (OR = 2,8), dan pencelupan ulang kelambu (OR = 3,6) memiliki hubungan yang bermakna dengan kejadian malaria. Research has shown that parental involvement decreases as students move from high school to college, but the impact that parents had on their students while in high school continues into college. Background: In recent years, electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) have generated considerable interest and debate on the implications for tobacco control and public health. Although the rapid growth of e-cigarettes is global, at present, little is known about awareness and use. This paper presents self-reported awareness, trial and current use of e-cigarettes in 10 countries surveyed between 2009 and 2013; for six of these countries, we present the first data on e-cigarettes from probability samples of adult smokers. Background: Physical inactivity has been associated with obesity and related chronic diseases. Understanding built environment (BE) influences on specific domains of physical activity (PA) around homes and workplaces is important for public health efforts and interventions to increase population PA. Purpose: To examine the association of home and workplace BE features with PA occurring across specific life domains (work, leisure, and travel). Methods: Between 2012 and 2013, telephone interviews were conducted with participants in four Missouri metropolitan areas. Purpose: This paper presents a multipart investigation of the benefits and challenges in deploying automated question-answering as an alternative to web-based searching to provide information about prostate cancer screening for low-income men age 40 years and older.

Methods: The study comprised: 1) a survey assessing current use of the Internet, mobile phones and texting; 2) a controlled observational study of both web-based searching and automated question-answering for information about prostate cancer; and 3) a formative field study in which subjects interacted with a health department nurse using text messages.

This pilot study used photovoice methodology to explore the current health needs of youth who were trafficked for sex and are now living in an alternative family care setting. Commercial sex plays a critical role in rapidly increasing heterosexual transmission of HIV in China. Low-paid female sex workers (FSWs) are especially vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Because of the illegality and stigma associated with sex work, FSWs may constantly live with fears in their daily life. Based on cross-sectional study of 794 low-paid FSWs in China we described their psychological fears related to commercial sex and examined the associations between fears and HIV-related behaviors. Fear of HIV infection was significantly associated with consistent use of condoms with clients. However, fear of breaching sex worker identity significantly prevented the FSWs from consistently …

Palestinian refugees make up 20% of the population of Jordan, significantly contributing to this fertility rate (Jordan: UNRWA, 2014). The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceived level of voice Palestinian women have in family planning counseling at UNRWA clinics and how this perception influenced the success of the counseling. The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes and practices of Jordanian surgeons on the control of surgical-site infections, evaluated by the Center of Disease Control’s guidelines toward the prevention of surgical-site infections, in addition to gaining respondents opinions on infection control in Jordan. This study was conducted through the distribution of 75 questionnaires given to surgeons at five hospitals in Jordan.
