Literature review focuses on presurgery oral hygiene instructions, pre-radiography/chemotherapy dental clearance, complications and management during radiotherapy/chemotherapy; post-radiotherapy/ chemotherapy oral healthcare; and adjunctive measures.

The Australian General Practice Training National Registrar Survey (AGPT NRS) is an annual, national survey of GP registrars currently training in the AGPT program that collects information about registrar satisfaction, experience and future career plans. This survey is part of the Department of Health’s (the Department) monitoring and quality improvement activities and the information can be used to assure the quality of training provision, enable continuous improvement and allow results to be benchmarked nationally. Introduction: Cancer survivorship groups are able to provide a safe space for those who are battling cancer and for those in remission. Facilitators of these programs are reaching emotional thresholds where they feel ill equipped to handle the psychological needs of group participants. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the social/emotional training provided to facilitators of the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. The mission of the USM Rehabilitation Counseling (RC) specialty program is to promote quality rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities by:

(1) preparing qualified rehabilitation professionals;

(2) providing services to rehabilitation professionals and organizations; and

(3) sponsoring rehabilitation-related research and training.

Background: Medication errors represent a major cause of adverse events in hospitalized inpatients. 27-83% of hospitalized patients will have at least one discrepancy in their medication history at admission, with 11%–59% of errors having clinical importance. Current processes for completing admission medication reconciliations are ill-defined, further increasing the risk of errors. Implementation of a standardized medication reconciliation process has led to a reduction in medication errors. Aim Statement: To increase the number of admission medication reconciliations completed within 48 hours of admission to GW Hospital by 25% over three months. Background

Current radiology training in medical schools is still predominantly limited to passively observing the radiologist at the workstation and through lectures, textbooks and online sources. Evaluation is also mainly limited on still image interpretation or knowledge-based multiple-choice questions. Furthermore, students may have specific interests based on their choice of residency. In order to create a tailored and active learning experience, and to evaluate students’ ability in image interpretation, we utilized an open-source web-based Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) named "Weasis" and integrated a report system.

Senior Theses

A mass casualty exercise was performed to investigate triage and decontamination of patients exposed to an irritant gas. Nursing students participated in two groups: emergency department triage (ED) and decontamination (DECON). While participants felt overall that the experience was valuable, DECON participants had a greater interest in emergency response and were more likely to volunteer again.

Background: Peer to peer review is the most essential form of peer review as it encourages nurses to evaluate the quality, safety, and effectiveness of nursing care amongst peers. Poor communication skills for providing feedback during peer review is a barrier identified in the literature, which can be addressed in professional development training.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of communication-focused professional development sessions on the ambulatory care nurses’ perceived self-efficacy to successfully provide meaningful feedback during peer to peer review.

Background: Simulation based education offers safe, reflective learning opportunities. However, data had not been obtained of nursing students’ perceptions of teamwork performed during Virtual Hospital (VH), a multiple patient simulation.

Objectives: This evaluation gap was addressed using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ) TeamSTEPPS® Teamwork Perceptions Questionnaire (T-TPQ). The validated survey measures self-reported perceptions of teamwork in communication, mutual support, and situational awareness on a Likert scale from 1 to 5 (AHRQ, 2014).
