Background: Passage of the Affordable Health Care Act of 2010 increased insurance coverage for children, however possession of health care insurance doesn’t always equate to effective use of health care services. Misuse and underutilization of health care homes is associated with higher costs, fragmentation of health care, and poor health outcomes across the lifespan. Along with reliance upon the health care system, child health and well-being are dependent upon social factors such as interactions with caregivers and communities. The Predictors Of Juvenile Recidivism: Testimonies Of Adult Students 18 Years And Older Exiting From Alternative Education, La Toshia Palmer

Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive, qualitative study was to identify and describe the importance of the predictors of juvenile recidivism and the effectiveness of efforts to prevent/avoid juvenile recidivism as perceived by previously detained, arrested, convicted, and/or incarcerated adult students 18 years of age and older exiting from alternative education in Northern California. A second purpose was to explore the types of support provided by alternative schools and the perceived importance of the support to avoid recidivism according to adult students 18 years of age and older exiting from alternative education.

The 2017 Association of Pathology Chairs Annual Meeting included a session for department chairs and other department leaders on "how to deal with deans and academic medical center leadership." The session was focused on discussing ways to foster positive relationships with university, medical school, and health system leaders, and productively address issues and opportunities with them. Presentations and a panel discussion were provided by 4 former pathology chairs who subsequently have served as medical deans and in other leadership positions including university provost, medical center CEO, and health system board chair. Background:

Maternal and infant mortality rates in Tanzania have decreased over the past decades, but remain high. One of the challenges the country faces, is the lack of skilled health care workers. High fertility rates make midwives and their patients particularly susceptible to stress as a result of understaffing.

Objective:

This paper explores the challenges midwives face in their day-to-day practice at a regional referral hospital in Tanzania, and investigates which measures the midwives themselves find necessary to implement to improve their situation.

It has been proposed that by initiating the highest percentages of nursing compliance, overall patient outcomes will improve along with a decrease in the number of ventilator-associated events (VAEs). The aim of the study is to appraise the association between nursing compliance with a ventilator bundle and a successful decline in the number of events of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in the intensive care unit (ICU). Literature review focuses on presurgery oral hygiene instructions, pre-radiography/chemotherapy dental clearance, complications and management during radiotherapy/chemotherapy; post-radiotherapy/ chemotherapy oral healthcare; and adjunctive measures.

The Australian General Practice Training National Registrar Survey (AGPT NRS) is an annual, national survey of GP registrars currently training in the AGPT program that collects information about registrar satisfaction, experience and future career plans. This survey is part of the Department of Health’s (the Department) monitoring and quality improvement activities and the information can be used to assure the quality of training provision, enable continuous improvement and allow results to be benchmarked nationally. Introduction: Cancer survivorship groups are able to provide a safe space for those who are battling cancer and for those in remission. Facilitators of these programs are reaching emotional thresholds where they feel ill equipped to handle the psychological needs of group participants. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the social/emotional training provided to facilitators of the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. For the service-learning practicum capstone, I assisted Dr. Charles Bernaccio and Tiffany Reagan on the media outreach (LinkedIn page) for the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (CLRC) master’s program here at the University of Southern Maine.

The mission of the USM Rehabilitation Counseling (RC) specialty program is to promote quality rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities by:

(1) preparing qualified rehabilitation professionals;

(2) providing services to rehabilitation professionals and organizations; and

(3) sponsoring rehabilitation-related research and training.
