Background: Ameloblastoma is the most frequent of the benign epithelial odontogenic tumours. It exhibits a unique biologic behavior which demands meticulous understanding for thorough diagnosis and management. P53 tumor suppressor protein functions as a gatekeeper of cell division, inducing either cell cycle arrest or apoptosis. While mutations in the p53 gene are often detected in human cancers; the role of p53 in ameloblastoma remains elusive.

Background: The purpose of this paper is to do a cross-sectional analysis to evaluate the impact of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic on Dental Match Residency statistics from the year 2019–2023. Methods: The Dental Match Residency statistics available from the Dental Match website were analyzed from years 2019–2023 to evaluate the impact of pre-pandemic (2019–2020), pandemic (2021, 2022) and post-pandemic year trends (2023). Important trends were evaluated and summarized using graphs, descriptive statistics, and two sample tests for proportions (chi-square test) comparing different pairs of years. OBJECTIVES: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are often prescribed following the placement of dental implants, but the effects of these drugs on the osseointegration process are poorly understood. We designed a randomized, placebo-controlled pilot study to quantitatively assess the effect of NSAIDs during early implant osseointegration.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Subjects receiving a maxillary dental implant were randomized to take naproxen or placebo for 7 days after the surgery. Implant osseointegration was quantified using Resonance Frequency Analysis device. BACKGROUND: The opioid epidemic is a serious crisis in the United States. It has been proposed that opioid prescriptions after dental procedures are a major contributor to opioid use and abuse. The American Dental Association has been working to educate dental care providers about safe opioid prescribing practices. The authors hypothesized that oral and maxillofacial surgeons, following the efforts and publications from the American Dental Association, have been prescribing fewer postoperative opioids.

Multifunctional wound dressings with antibacterial and antioxidant properties hold significant promise for treating chronic wounds; however, achieving a balance of these characteristics while maintaining biocompatibility is challenging. To enhance this balance, this study focuses on the design and development of 3D-printed chitosan-matrix composite scaffolds, which are incorporated with varying amounts of cerium oxide nanoparticles (0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 wt%) and subsequently coated with a vancomycin-loaded alginate layer. The structure, antibiotic drug delivery kinetics, biodegradation, swelling, biocompatibility, antibacterial, antioxidant, and cell migration behaviors of the fabricated dressings were evaluated in-vitro. This study aimed to assess the impact of a deep learning model on oral radiologists’ ability to detect periapical radiolucencies on periapical radiographs. The secondary objective was to conduct a regression analysis to evaluate the effects of years of experience, time to diagnose, and specialty.

Methods

This study used an annotated dataset and a beta version of a deep learning model (Denti.AI). The testing subset comprised 68 intraoral periapical radiographs confirmed with cone-beam computed tomography for the presence/absence of apical radiolucencies. Objective: This study aimed to develop a machine-learning (ML) model to predict the risk for Periodontal Disease (PD) based on nonimage electronic dental records (EDRs).

Methods: By using EDRs collected in the BigMouth repository, dental patients from the US were included. Patients were labeled as cases or controls, based on PD diagnosis, treatment and pocketing. By learning from their data, a model was trained. The ability of the developed model to predict PD was evaluated by the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity and area under the curve (AUROC) and the most important features were determined.
