Microtensile Bond Strength Between Zirconia Ceramics To Resin Composite Using Different Resin Cements, Putsadee Srisomboonkamon, Prarom Salimee

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Background/Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the microtensile bond strength (MTBS) of three zirconia ceramics from different manufacturers bonded to resin composite using three different resin cements. Materials and methods: Three fully-sintered zirconia ceramic blocks (5x5x10 mm) from Katana (Nuvodent, Japan), Lava (3M ESPE, Germany) and Cercon (Degudent, Germany) were fabricated and bonded to resin composite blocks (Filtek Z250, 3M ESPE, USA) with the same size using one of the three resin cements : Panavia F 2.0 (Kuraray, USA), Superbond C&B (Sun Medical, Japan) and RelyX Unicem (3M ESPE, USA). After 24 h, each block was cut under water coolant …

Fracture Resistance Of Endodontically Treated Maxillary Premolars Restored With Lithium Disilicate Restorations Using Three Different Retentive Techniques, Pakwan Varapongsittikul, Top Chitkraisorn, Nichamon Chaianant, Terawat Tosiriwatanapong, Boonsong Prateepsawangwong

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

To compare fracture resistance of endodontically treated maxillary premolars restored with ceramic restorations using three retentive techniques. Forty maxillary premolars were randomly selected as a control (Group 1), composite core/crown (Group 2), fiber-reinforced composite post/ composite core/crown (Group 3) and endocrown (Group 4). All restorations were thermo-cycled and subjected to vertical loading. Fracture load and fracture modes were analyzed. The results showed that Group 3 recorded a significantly highest fracture load (2304 ± 737 N). Pairwise comparisons showed no significant difference between Group 2 (1229 ± 303 N) and group 4 (1609 ± 395 N). Type of coronal-radicular retention was …

Comparison Of Resistance To Sliding In Posterior Units With Various Angulations Of Molar Tubes, Pornhathai Liewsaitong, Paiboon Techalertpaisarn 2019 Chulalongkorn University

Comparison Of Resistance To Sliding In Posterior Units With Various Angulations Of Molar Tubes, Pornhathai Liewsaitong, Paiboon Techalertpaisarn

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Background/objectives This study aimed to investigate the effect of one or two brackets on orthodontic frictional forces and to compare frictional forces of posterior segments when a molar tube had different degrees of tipping. Materials and Methods Five different types of posterior segment templates with six templates per type were constructed. Templates A and B had one and two brackets with an untipped tube, respectively. Templates C, D, and E had two brackets and a 3°, 6° or 9° tipped tube. Each template was coupled with 0.016″ x 0.022″ stainless steel wire and ligated with elastomeric ligatures. Static frictions were …

The Outcome Of Endodontic Treatment Performed By Dental Students: A Retrospective Study, Phonphanit Sivavetpikul, Kessiri Wisithphrom, Peraya Puapichartdumrong

Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Background/Objectives: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the success and failure rates as well as factors influencing the outcome of initial endodontic treatment performed by dental students at the Faculty of Dentistry, Naresuan University, Thailand, from 2010 to 2015. Materials and Methods: Data from the treatment records, clinical signs and symptoms, and radiographic records of 213 endodontically treated anterior teeth and premolar were collected and evaluated. Digital periapical radiographs obtained at pre-operation and the last follow-up period were interpreted independently by two examiners via Periapical index (PAI) score. Treatment outcome was evaluated as success or failure based on …

Vegf Induced Differentiation Of Gingival Stem Cells To Endothelial Cells In Vitro, Garima Gupta 2019 Nova Southeastern University

Vegf Induced Differentiation Of Gingival Stem Cells To Endothelial Cells In Vitro, Garima Gupta

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Background: Birth defects that result in structural malformation of major organs are one of the major causes of mortality in children. Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TERM) strategies are particularly beneficial for the pediatric patients to correct these defects owing to their greater regenerative capacity compared to the adult population. Limited availability of pediatric patient’s auto-transplantation of organs makes TERM strategies as a promising alternative toconventional clinical procedures that utilize the grafts. Recent developments in stem cells technologies, there is an enormous potential for TERM in correcting birth defects and enhancing the life span in young population. However, the major …

Using Er:Yag Laser To Remove Lithium Disilicate Crowns From Zirconia Implant Abutments: An In Vitro Study, Janina Golob Deeb, Sompop Bencharit, Nishchal Dalal, Aous Abdulmajeed, Kinga Grzech-Leśniak 2019 Virginia Commonwealth University

Using Er:Yag Laser To Remove Lithium Disilicate Crowns From Zirconia Implant Abutments: An In Vitro Study, Janina Golob Deeb, Sompop Bencharit, Nishchal Dalal, Aous Abdulmajeed, Kinga Grzech-Leśniak

Periodontics Publications

Background
When implants are restored with cement-retained restorations, prosthetic retrievability can be difficult and often requires sectioning using rotary instruments. Sometimes repeated removals of a cement-retained implant crown are needed such as for treatment of peri-implantitis or immediate implant provisionalization. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG) laser as a non-invasive treatment modality to remove lithium disilicate crowns from zirconia implant abutments following long-term cementation, repetitive debonding and re-cementation, and short-term retrieval.

Material and methods
Twenty identical lithium disilicate crowns were cemented onto zirconia prefabricated abutments using composite resin cement. Ten …

Analysis Of Wind Instruments On Orofacial Anatomy: A Review Of Literature, Regina M. Dixon, Samantha Chavez 2019 Virginia Commonwealth University

Analysis Of Wind Instruments On Orofacial Anatomy: A Review Of Literature, Regina M. Dixon, Samantha Chavez

Dental Hygiene Student Scholarship

The focus of this review of literature is on orofacial anatomy and their association with the longevity of wind instrument use. The importance of how playing wind instruments creates a disadvantage for the oral cavity and therapeutic approaches to decrease the adverse effects. Using the university’s library database and PubMed, the authors performed a thorough search on the literature of our topic. Specific key terms such as wind instrumentalists, oral health, orofacial anatomy, and therapy were used to conduct our search. The searched was limited to the English language and within five years of publications. The findings acknowledged pathologically infectious …
