Objectives: This study was conducted to prepare and characterize root-shaped treated dentin matrix (TDM) scaffolds, and to evaluate their efficacy together with seeded dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) as potential bio-roots in extraction sockets of rat models.

Materials and Methods: Root-shaped TDM specimens were prepared and characterized. Following extraction of maxillary incisors, the alveolar sockets were implanted with TDM segments measuring 8 mm in length, either alone (TDM group) or seeded with dental pulp stem cells (TDM/DPSCs group). Animals were euthanized at two and six weeks post-implantation, specimens were processed for histological, histochemical and immunohistochemical analyses.

Objective: Brief behavioral interventions targeting pain (Physical Self-Regulation, PSR) or sleep (Brief Behavioral Intervention for Insomnia, BBTI) show promise for interdisciplinary management of chronic pain, though their feasibility with chronic musculoskeletal orofacial pain (MSK-OFP) populations remains underexplored. This pilot study assessed the feasibility of a randomized clinical trial (RCT) of these interventions in a university-affiliated tertiary OFP clinic and explored clinical changes in pain, sleep, and other secondary outcomes.

Aim:

Molar-Incisor (PerioC-MIP) and Generalized (PerioC-G) Grade C Periodontitis could have distinctive etiopathogenesis behind their unique clinical patterns. Thus, this study aimed to distinguish these two phenotypes by analyzing the subgingival metagenomic profile and the inflammatory markers levels.

Methods:

In this cross-sectional comparative study, Gingival Crevicular Fluid (GCF) and Subgingival Biofilm (SB) were collected from 18 PerioC-MIP North Americans and 14 periodontally healthy controls (HC) from the same location (HC-MIP) and 20 PerioC-G Brazilians and 20 controls (HC-G). Objective: To investigate the impact of serum vitamin D levels on marginal bone loss (MBL) in patients restored with unsplinted-mandibular-implant overdentures using LOCATOR attachments. Materials and Methods: Thirty participants rehabilitated with three-implant-mandibular overdentures were included. Based on serum vitamin D at the time of prosthetic loading, participants were categorized into two equal groups: a test group with deficient vitamin D (< 20 ng/mL) and a control group with sufficient levels (≥30 ng/mL). Objective: This study aimed to establish cephalometric norms for the Tanzanian population, assess sexual dimorphism in cephalometric measurements, and compare these findings with established Caucasian and West African norms to enhance orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. Materials and Methods: A crosssectional study was conducted on 309 subjects (142 males, 167 females) at Muhimbili University Dental Clinic. Cephalometric radiographs were digitally traced using Quick Ceph Studio. Reliability was assessed using the inter-class correlation coefficient. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test checked normality, while one-sample t-tests and Student’s ttests (p < 0.05) were used for comparisons. Data were analyzed with RStudio. Results: Tanzanians showed significantly smaller craniofacial measurements than Caucasians. Males had larger skeletal dimensions than females. Compared to West Africans, Tanzanians had generally higher values, with a few exceptions. Conclusion: Tanzanians display distinct craniofacial characteristics, differing from both Caucasians and West Africans. These findings support the need for population-specific cephalometric norms to guide accurate orthodontic diagnosis and treatment.

Atherosclerosis remains the primary driver of global cardiovascular disease, yet clinical interventions are largely restricted to high-cost, invasive procedures only after it has reached a critical stage. Recent research has identified a connection between the oral microbiome and vascular health via the enterosalivary nitrate-nitrite-nitic oxide (NO) pathway. Oral nitrate-reducing bacteria (ONRB) drive the synthesization of NO by reducing dietary nitrate into nitrite, which is then converted into bioavailable NO. NO is a potent vasodilator that maintains endothelial health by suppressing inflammation through inhibiting the expression of adhesion molecules VCAM-1 and ICAM-1. Despite this expectation, leadership training remains inconsistent in predoctoral dental education. National data suggest that only 24% of practicing dentists feel adequately prepared for leadership roles in practice through their dental education, with even fewer reporting preparedness at broader organizational or systemic levels. Taking aim at community water fluoridation, critics allege that fluoridation should be a matter of personal choice. This claim, however, overlooks both basic dental science and, more importantly, questions about our mutual obligations. It positions a child’s interests as central in clinical decision-making, setting aside the historical notion that children are chattel or property under the unlimited authority of their parents. It is therefore essential to recognize the early signs of burnout and address them before the situation deteriorates.
