Objective: A high performance liquid chromatography method was developed to determine EDTA and NTA in water. Methods: The samples were derivatized with ferric chloride, used methanol and a 0.2 mmol/L tetrabutylammonium bromide phosphate buffer solution (pH 2.5) as the mobile phase, separated on a Thermo-C18 (4.6 mm×250 mm) column after gradient elution, detected by HPLC with a diode array detector, and used external standard method for quantitation. Objective: This study aimed to extend the storage period of fresh-cut Lanzhou lily. Methods: Fresh-cut Lanzhou lily was used as raw materials. Following fresh-cut processing, the raw materials were soaked with 0 (CK), 1, 5, and 10 g/L of SI solution to analyze the quality changes of fresh-cut Lanzhou lily during storage. Results: The soaking treatment with 10 g/L of SI could better maintain the brightness of freshly cut Lanzhou lily. At 21 days of storage, the concentrations of malondialdehyde, soluble sugar, and browning were, respectively, 45%, 8%, and 23% lower than those of the CK group. The SI-treated group …

Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of different drying methods on the drying characteristics and volatile flavor of Stropharia rugosoannulata as raw material. Methods: The fresh S.rugosoannulata was dried by freeze-drying, heat pump drying, hot air drying, and microwave drying, and then the physical and chemical indexes were investigated. Results: The contents of crude protein, crude fat, ash, potassium, calcium, total flavonoids, essential amino acids, flavor amino acids and total amino acids are the highest in freeze drying. The decline in vascular function and increase in blood pressure with aging contribute to an increased cardiovascular disease risk. In this randomized placebo-controlled crossover study, we evaluated whether previously reported cardiovascular benefits of plant-derived inorganic nitrate via nitric oxide (NO) translate into improved vascular function and blood pressure-lowering in 15 men and women (age range: 56-71 years) with treated hypertension. To enhance food security, food safety, and environmental health, a bio-based integrated pest management (BIPM) strategy was evaluated at two coastal locations in Lebanon as an alternative to toxic pesticide sprays in commercial high-arched plastic tunnels common in many countries. The evaluation occurred during two cucumber and pepper cropping seasons: spring and fall. At each site, two commercial tunnels were used; farmers’ conventional practices were applied in one tunnel, while the BIPM approach was followed in the second tunnel. Guhong injection (GHI) has been applied in the therapy of cardio-cerebrovascular disease in clinic, but there is no report about the pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) research on GHI treating myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury in rats. Pomelo sponge layer (PSL) had been considered as a potential source of soluble dietary fiber (SDF), while they were mostly disposed of as waste. To promote high-value utilization of pomelo wastes, this study extracted SDF from PSL of six varieties of pomelo, and their physicochemical, structural and functional properties were investigated. Results indicated that all PSL-SDFs showed good physicochemical and functional properties. Among them, PSL-SDF from grapefruit (GRSDF) showed better water holding capacity and swelling capacity, whereas Shatian pomelo PSL-SDF and Guanxi pomelo PSL-SDF had the highest thermal stability and oil holding capacity, respectively. Liver fibrosis occurs due to injury or inflammation, which results in the excessive production of collagen and the formation of fibrotic scar tissue that impairs liver function. Despite the limited treatment options available, freshwater clams may hold promise in the treatment of liver fibrosis. In this study, we demonstrated the effects of ethanol extract of freshwater clam (FCE), ethyl acetate extract of FCE (EA-FCE), and trans-2-nonadecyl-4-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-dioxolane (TNHD) on liver fibrosis induced by dimethylnitrosamine (DMN). Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) barcoding is a sequencing-based method that utilizes a standardized genetic region to identify species in combination with a reference database. DNA barcoding methodologies have been extensively applied to the identification of species in cooked seafood. While the typical genetic target associated with DNA barcoding is a ~650-bp region of the gene coding for cytochrome (cyt) c oxidase subunit I (COI), additional genetic targets include partial regions of the cyt b and 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) genes.
