Supporting Bibliodiversity And Access Through Library Resource Sharing, J. Silvia Cho

Publications and Research

Librarians, with their core values of access, intellectual freedom, stewardship and democracy, share bibliodiversity advocates’ vision of an eco-social system of diverse cultures and reading as a democratic and emancipatory practice. Librarians bolster bibliodiversity by collecting inclusively, critically reviewing and decolonizing library collections, and centering access. Building on previous discussions on the role of open access in strengthening bibliodiversity, this paper acknowledges and articulates how interlibrary loan and library resource sharing also support bibliodiversity. This report presents the findings from a survey disseminated to all employees over Winter 2026 that focused on Winona State University educators' knowledge of and practices around copyright/intellectual property, open educational resources (OERs), and open access (OA) publishing. It establishes a baseline understanding of our educators’ advanced information and professional development needs, and can be replicated in the future if needed. In all, responses suggest that there may be continued interest in professional development and support around OERs, some interest in professional development around OA publishing, and potential benefits to further faculty and staff development around copyright/intellectual property. The contemporary teaching learning practices witnessed a significant shift within outcome-based education frameworks adopting of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) into formal higher education curricula. The study focused to evaluate integration of Coursera MOOCs across various engineering and management undergraduate and postgraduate programs at P.E.S. College of Engineering, Mandya.  A total 2980 students completed 22393 courses within a single semester, engaging more than 105,000 cumulative learning hours.

The study combined the learning analytics from the platform and  feedbacks from a structured questionnaires responded by 1072 students to examine engagement patterns, perceived instructional quality, assessment effectiveness, learning outcomes, and technological accessibility. …

Introduction

Determining research directions is an essential method for charting the publication landscape of a scientific discipline. The goal of this study was to explore research trends in library and medical information by reviewing articles indexed in Web of Science, PubMed, Ovid, ProQuest, and Scopus databases between 2000 and 2024.

Methods

This study used scientometric and descriptive methods to analyze librarianship and medical information research trends from 2000-2024, using data from selected databases. Vocabulary co-occurrence and social network analysis were applied, with VOSviewer used for visualization and to identify key elements in the field.

The research enterprise in the United States, established after the second world war, is experiencing massive disruption. Knowledge graphs with graph databases such as Neo4j provide tremendous capabilities for semantic mapping and discovery in Library and Information Science. This paper proposes a method to construct a domain-specific knowledge graph from journal articles in LIS. Researchers are interested in the semantic connection between authors, topics, citations, and concepts. Using Neo4j, the team implements entity extraction, ontology modeling, relationship mapping, and advanced querying techniques will enable better information retrieval and knowledge discovery. Abstract

Electronic libraries have become essential tools in supporting e-learning by providing users with timely and flexible access to digital academic resources. This study examined the perceived usefulness and role of electronic libraries in supporting e-learning, particularly within Nigerian universities.

The study adopted a systematic literature review methodology in which relevant empirical and scholarly studies were purposively selected and critically analysed. Findings revealed that students perceive electronic libraries as useful for accessing course materials, conducting research, completing assignments, and promoting independent learning. This study examined the status of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources and facilities supporting Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) utilization in university libraries in Nigeria. The paper specifically investigated the availability of ICT resources that facilitate OPAC utilization and identified the challenges preventing effective use of OPAC among library patrons in university libraries. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The population of the study was 28,897 registered library users.
