Nexus Literary Journal
Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

"Our understanding of contemporary forms of electronically produced media knowledges has been informed by what we perceive as the changing role of the flaneur in the age of late capitalism-one that is as ominous and drastic as the changes which Benjamin perceived. We suggest that the flaneur no longer provides the service of teaching his or her generation about 'their own objective circumstances;' rather, we suggest that the flaneur, as global newscaster, has transmogrified into the afterimage of fascism."

The public speaking course has changed little during the past two decades, despite the rapid and profound changes that have occurred in rhetorical scholarship. By contrast, the basic composition course in English Departments has undergone transformations that more closely reflect the development of the scholarship. One reason for this difference may rest in our failure to regard the public speaking course as a serious part of our mission as teachers and scholars. By concentrating on the rhetoric of composition. we might not only generate innovative and theoretically interesting approaches to pedagogy, but we might improve our rhetorical scholarship by connecting …
