Guidelines For The Training Of Nautical Surveyors In The I.R Of Iran, Vahid Mobasheri

Maritime Safety Administration Dissertations

In the early morning of Wednesday 28th of September 1994, 82 years after the sinking of, ”M/S Titanic", the world witnessed yet another maritime disaster, i.e. "M/S Estonia" with nearly the same number of human casualty. Although it is too soon to determine precisely the main cause or causes of this accident, it is suspected that the bow door might have been breached immediately before the sinkage. In such a case one question should be answered: Had the ship undergone a close and proper survey and inspection prior to her departure^ could this tragedy happen? On the other hand, after …

Rethinking Ootw, Robert J. Bunker

CGU Faculty Publications and Research

This article challenges the concept and, by default, the continuum shown in Figure 1 and the range of military operations in the theater strategic environment (hereafter referred to as the RMO model), which it helps define. To do so, it will address the relationship between the OOTW concept and RMO model, the concept of war underlying AirLand Battle doctrine and OOTW as a flawed concept. It further argues that the RMO model should be replaced by not one, but two new politico-military models as a doctrinal bridge. It is not within this article's scope to attempt to create these models, …

In Part Two we explain the survey methods and procedures including details on the stratified sample selection, questionnaire development, survey procedures in 1988 and 1992 and response rates. The 1992 effort, especially, was the product of a …

The Future Soldier System: An Energy Perspective, Robert J. Bunker Jan 1994

The Future Soldier System: An Energy Perspective, Robert J. Bunker

CGU Faculty Publications and Research

The Soldier Integrated Protective Ensemble (SIPE) Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD) has proven to be an ambitious and farsighted project. It is based on a modular subsystem approach which paves the way toward the development of a head-to-toe integrated fighting system for the dismounted infantry soldier. This system is composed of the soldier and everything worn, consumed and carried for use in a tactical environment. Having successfully proven itself, the SIPE ATD will now transition into follow-on programs which will field and demonstrate soldier system prototypes.
