The gasoline tractor and hybrid corn were just a couple of the new developments that helped move farming out of the horsepowered era and into the nuclear ago.
Partisan Voting In The Oregon Legislature, Tom Lee Mason
Partisan Voting In The Oregon Legislature, Tom Lee Mason
Dissertations and Theses
The thesis examines the role of partisanship in two sessions of the Oregon Legislature. Both the Oregon Senate and the Oregon House of Representatives were examined for the 56th (1971) and the 57th (1973) session. Indicies of partisanship, or party cohesion were developed for both parties in both houses during both sessions. Each legislator was also assigned an index of partisanship. The indicies of partisanship for the parties were the average percentage of the members of the two parties voting together on those issues which underwent "party votes." A party vote was defined as any vote on which the majority …

The Politics Of Education -- An Analysis Of Selected Cases And Controversies In American Education, Lawrence Robert Stoffel
The Politics Of Education -- An Analysis Of Selected Cases And Controversies In American Education, Lawrence Robert Stoffel
Dissertations and Theses
This study compiles a series of cases and controversies in American education, from the popularization of public education in the mid-1800's to the present, and then reviews them to determine scholarly political aspects, common themes, and trends. The paper reviews the plight of Negro education in Alabama after the Civil War until 1901. It discusses accommodation in the realm of education as the United …

Of all …

The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought
in this issue. . .
THIS APRIL 1974 issue of THE MIDWEST QUARTERLY testifies to our continued interest in a wide range of topics having in common a meaningful relation to contemporary thought.
