We analyze the drunkard's walk on the unit sphere with step size θ and show that the walk converges in order C/sin2(θ) steps in the discrepancy metric (C a constant). This is an application of techniques we develop for bounding the discrepancy of random walks on Gelfand pairs generated by bi-invariant measures. In such cases, Fourier analysis on the acting group admits tractable computations involving spherical functions. We advocate the use of discrepancy as a metric on probabilities for state spaces with isometric group actions.

We generalize biharmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds into the case of the domain being V-manifolds. We obtain the first and second variations of biharmonic maps on V-manifolds. Since a biharmonic map from a compact V-manifold into a Riemannian manifold of nonpositive curvature is harmonic, we construct a biharmonic non-harmonic map into a sphere. We also show that under certain condition the biharmonic property of f implies the harmonic property of f. We finally discuss the composition of biharmonic maps on V-manifolds.

For irrational , a certain modification (called an almost periodic factorization) can be considered instead. This research presents a multiresolution wavelet analysis tool for analyzing motion in time sequential imagery. A theoretical framework is developed for constructing an L2R wavelet multiresolution analysis from three non-identical spatial and temporal L2R wavelet multiresolution analyses. This framework provides the flexibility to tailor the spatio-temporal frequency characteristics of the three dimensional wavelet filter to match the frequency behavior of the analyzed signal. An unconventional, discrete multiresolution wavelet decomposition algorithm is developed which yields a rich set of independent spatio-temporally oriented frequency channels for analyzing, the size and speed characteristics of moving objects. A diffusion model of the prevascular stage of tumor growth is presented. The basic feature of such a model is the diffusion of growth inhibitor, which is produced at a spatially non-uniform rate within the tissue. Regimes of limited and unlimited tissue growth are determined, and the consistency of this and simpler models is discussed in the light of observational results.

This paper makes use of the results of the doctoral thesis written by Professor K. Gamon entitled "The propagation of waves and pulses in the presence of conical structures." The use of such results is made by considering the expression for the field of a cone due to a ring source excitation and then obtaining the solution of a new field propagated by a given pulse.
Also, the electric and magnetic components for these new fields are derived along with the expression for the radiated energy.

When a combined longitudinal and transverse disturbance, diverging from a localized source, strikes a plane boundary between two solid elastic media, several systems of head waves and second order boundary waves are generated, each associated with grazing incidence of one or the other of the reflected or refracted waves.
