The aim of this study is to determine the influence of EM stimulations on macro and micro element concentrations in the blood, to determine if changes in ion concentrations depends on their basal values and to determine the usefulness of this kind of stimulation in the maintenance of the blood macro and micro element levels in cows. 17 cows were included in the experimental group (affected by a unique EM stimulation protocol of three weeks duration) and 9 cows were included in the control group. Significantly higher (P<0.01) concentrations of Ca, P, Na and Cu and lower (P<0.05) concentrations of Zn were found in the experimental group after EM stimulation. Dynamic changes of macro and micro element concentrations were inversely proportional to their basalvalue before the beginning of the experiment which means that animals with lower basal concentrations had greater changes of value during stimulation. Dynamicchanges of Ca, P, Mg, Fe, K and Cu were more notable in the experimental group that was exposed to EM stimulation compared to the control group. However, dynamic changes of Na and Zn concentrations were identical in the experimental and control groups. Exposure of cows to EM stimulation had a positive effect at Ca and P concentrations and improved calcaemia and phosphatemia in all the exposed animals.

The World Health Organization declared Taiwan rabies-free in 1961. On July 17, 2013, Taiwan confirmed the detection of rabies virus in wild Formosan ferret-badgers.This study investigated the epidemiology of Formosan ferret-badger rabies from July 2013 to December 2019 on Taiwan Main Island. There were two objectives of this study: 1) to study thetemporal dynamics of the epidemics during this period; 2) to assess the risk of human exposure to ferret-badger rabies. The objective of the present study was to determine the effect of dietary gel protein supplementation on pre-weaning mortality and growth in piglets. A total of 48 Landrace x Yorkshire crossbred sows were included in this study. It was reported in the authors’ previous study that the glucosamine (GlcN) content of Asian elephantmilk (516 mg GlcN/100 g milk) was markedly higher than that of cow, mare and human breast milk. Based on these findings, the GlcN levels of milk from other mammals, especially herbivores, were analyzed using the identical high performance ion exchange liquid chromatography as was employed in the previous study. The tripartite motif containing 62 (TRIM62) is a host antiviral factor. It was demonstrated in our previous study that chicken TRIM62 significantly inhibited the replication of reticuloendotheliosisvirus (REV). However, the effect of viral infection on the distribution of TRIM62 is still unknown. In the present study, we tested and evaluated the tissue distribution of TRIM62 and the REV infection correlativity. We found that the distribution and mRNA expression of TRIM62 were first increased and then decreased upon REV infection. The decrease of TRIM62 was mostly in the spleen. The present study conducted a longitudinal serological survey and active surveillance for influenza virus in free-ranging nonhuman primates (NHPs) in Thailand. One hundred and nine serum samples from NHPs were collected between 2009 and 2017, in 4 provinces of Thailand; while 282 oropharyngeal swabs were collected between April to August, 2018, in 8 provinces of Thailand. Our results demonstrated that no antibody to influenza virus was found in NHPseraby using blocking enzyme-linked immunosorbent (ELISA) assay and hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of season on testicular morphometry, on ram body weight, testosterone concentration and on stereological structure of the testes in Ouled Djellalrams. Twenty seven rams were randomly selected and the live weight and testicular size were recorded. Mycoplasma bovis(M. bovis) is one of the most significant pathogens in cattle. The aim of this study was to develop a rapid real-time LAMP assay, specific for M. boviswith designed primers targeting the OPPD/F gene. The assay was tested for 1 h at 63°C. The results could be visualized by the addition of calceindye. Real-time LAMP was specific exclusively for M. boviswithout cross-reactivity with other bacteria. Infections with equine herpesviruses(EHVs) are widespread in equine populations worldwide. Whilst EHV-1 produces well-documented reproductive losses in equids, the role of asinineherpesviruses-5 (AHV-5) to induce abortion is still enigmatic. In the present study, EHV-1 and AHV-5 were detected in aborted fetuses of Arabian horses in Egypt by consensus nested PCR of DNA polymerase gene, with a trial for viral isolation on Rabbit Kidney 13 cell line (RK-13) and identification by indirect immunofluorescence. The control of ticks with synthetic acaricides is partially successful. Cardiac myxoma is a rare disease in dogs. Its histogenic origin has not yet been established, but the involvement of mesenchymal stem cells has been suggested in humans. Here we report an encapsulated and benign cardiac myxoma located at the entrance to the pulmonary trunk of the heart of an 8-year-old male Yorkshire Terrier dog presenting sudden death in the absence of clinical symptoms related to cardiac alterations. Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) causes a global, economically important and highly contagious disease in pigs. To explore theinteraction between ISG15 and CSFV, the ISG15gene was amplified, cloned and expressed in E. coliBL21 cells. A 3-year-old female Golden Retriever was referred with weakness, tachypnea and dyspnea. An incomplete diaphragmatic silhouette, gas-filled small intestine and pleural effusion in the thoracic cavitywere revealed in radiographs, implying a diaphragmatic hernia. After laparotomy, the abdominalstructureswere gently retrieved into the abdomen and a defect of 2×7 cm2was found. The transverse colonwas used as an autologous tissue flap for the repair of the defect. There were no complications identified for 2 years after surgery. Thus, patching with the transverse colon can be considered as an alternative for treating a defect in patients with a diaphragmatic hernia.

The presentinvestigation was carried out to demonstratethe effect of high ambient temperature (HTa) on lactation performance with herd-based measurement. One large dairy farm in Thailandwith more than 300crossbred Holstein cows milking each monthwas selected. The meteorological data was recorded once a week during the period of observation. Milking cows (n=90) were observed for a 10-month lactation curve based on their calving seasons: Summer, rainy and winter. The pharmacokinetic properties of enrofloxacin were investigated after a single intra-muscular (i.m.) and oral administration of 10 mg/kg b.w. to 12 healthy adult pigeons. Twelve pigeons were randomly divided to two groups. Blood samples were collected at different time points following drug administration. Plasma enrofloxacin concentrations were determined by reverse-phase high-performanceliquidchromatography. Pharmacokinetic analysis was conducted using non-compartmental methods via the ncappc package in R. A mature intracranial teratoma was identified in a 5-month-old pet rabbit showing a sudden onset of obtundation, recumbency, flaccid tetraplegia, and hyporeflexia. A space-occupying suprasellar, irregular cystic mass extending from the thalamus to the brainstem was observed at necropsy. Histologically, the tumor was composed of irregular, multilocular cysts lined by a thin wall and interposed tissue where a heterogeneous collection of structures including adipose and myxomatous tissues, cartilage, glandularand ductal structures, skeletal muscle, nervous tissue, nerve fascicles, sebaceous glands, and exocrine pancreatic cells were recognized.
