Background
Tumor irradiation combined with adjuvant treatments, either vascular targeted or immunomodulatory, is under intense investigation. Gene electrotransfer of therapeutic genes is one of these approaches. The aim of this study was to determine, whether gene electrotransfer of plasmid encoding shRNA for silencing endoglin, with vascular targeted effectiveness, can radiosensitize melanoma B16F10 tumors.

Materials and methods
The murine melanoma B16F10 tumors, growing on the back of C57Bl/6 mice, were treated by triple gene electrotransfer and irradiation. The use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is gaining popularity in the Western world. Among the general public, CAM is often perceived to be associated with less stigma, fewer adverse effects, and may be more affordable. A number of patients utilize CAM for the treatment of depression; however, as there is limited scientific evidence, the safety profile of these supplements are largely unknown. In this case, a 42-year-old man developed hypomania approximately 1 week after S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) and 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) therapy was initiated for depression. The combination of SAMe and 5-HTP can potentially induce hypomanic episodes.

Merriam-Webster defines prolotherapy (PROLO) as “an alternative therapy for treating musculoskeletal pain that involves injection of irritant substance (as dextrose) into a ligament or tendon to promote the growth of new tissue”. Experimental research and multiple clinical trials have generated evidence suggesting that PROLO is effective at treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including tendinopathies, joint instability and ligament laxity. PROLO may also hold a potential to delay or avoid joint replacement and rotator cuff surgeries. Further research is needed to demonstrate the therapeutic effect of PROLO unequivocally.

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among women. A diagnosis of cancer is a stressful event that requires an individual to adapt to new stressors. The purpose of this qualitative study was to better understand the perceptions of mana'olana/hope and living with breast cancer among Native Hawaiian women. The conceptual framework of this phenomenological study was positive psychology. Data collection included in-depth interviews with 5 Native Hawaiian women who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Data coding and analysis resulted in identification of 8 themes.

Marijuana (MJ) alleviates a variety of symptoms, including those associated with menopause, such as insomnia, irritability, depression, and joint pain. However, little work has addressed the use of MJ in a menopausal population, or the role of menopausal women’s MJ treatment expectancies in their MJ consumption. The current study examined menopause symptoms, expectancies of MJ induced relief from symptoms, MJ monthly use, as well as average intoxication among menopausal and post-menopausal women (N=115) who endorsed lifetime MJ use. The present study aimed to determine the molecular mechanisms underlying the efficacy of WKN. Polyphenols content and antioxidant activity in Artemisia sieversiana Willd. were investigated in relation to the altitude of the plant growth in the Western Pamir region. Antioxidant activity generally correlated with the polyphenols content.
