Purpose: The study aimed to compare the Behavioral Pain Scale (BPS) and the Critical Care Pain Observation Tool (CPOT) in their effectiveness to identify the presence of pain in nonverbal mechanically ventilated critically ill patients. Nurses’ evaluation with the feasibility, clinical relevance, and satisfaction of the tools were also gathered and compared.

Design: This study followed a non-experimental, correlational, comparative design.

This research identified themes when exploring the Dietary Guidelines for Americans’ (DGA) attributes of relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability to provide information for the design and structure of a nutrition education program for the Mississippi Communities of Healthy Living Nutrition Intervention. Diffusion of Innovations theory was used to develop education sessions to promote the adoption and consumption of a DGAbased healthy diet innovation in the Lower Mississippi Delta. Education is changing. Virtual learning is now a common occurrence. Along with this change, more and more virtual learning tools are being used in the educational setting. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has recognized this change and has modified certification standards to include clinical simulation experiences in graduate speech-language training programs. Along with this modification, critical thinking skills are an expected goal, not only in face-to-face experiences, but also in simulation experiences. The liver fluke Opisthorchis viverrini infects 10 million people in Southeast Asia and causes cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). Fluke secreted and tegumental proteins contribute to the generation of a tumorigenic environment and are targets for drug and vaccine-based control measures. Herein, we identified two tetraspanins belonging to the CD63 family (Ov-TSP-2 and Ov-TSP-3) that are abundantly expressed in the tegument proteome of O. viverrini. Ov-tsp-2 and tsp-3 transcripts were detected in all developmental stages of O. viverrini. Retention of behavioral/mental health (BMH) staff is a critical need in public safety net systems, but a challenge to sustain. Chronic attrition in BMH settings is costly and can have adverse effects on client care. Researchers recommend investigation of personal resilience and workplace civility as potential retention factors. However, no studies explored relationships between these factors in BMH crisis stabilization units (CSU). The lumbosacral trunk, typically comprised of part of the fourth lumbar ventral rami and the entirety of the fifth lumbar ventral rami, serves as a connection between the lumbar and sacral plexuses. Developmental differences underlie the variable relative contributions of L4 and L5 to the lumbosacral trunk. Herein, we report a rare case in which dissection of an adult male cadaver revealed no L4 contribution to the lumbosacral plexus. We discuss the surgical and clinical implications of such an anatomic variation.

BACKGROUND: Vitamin D status may influence heart failure (HF) patient outcomes by affecting b-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), parathyroid hormone (PTH), and enhancing cardiac contractility. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with morbidity and mortality in HF patients. The objective of this study was to determine if vitamin D3 at a comparatively high dose would replete 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) stores, improve BNP, PTH, cardiopulmonary function, reduce inflammatory markers, and improve quality of life (QOL) in HF patients.

Competency of healthcare provider has significant impact on performance of the hospital. Measuring competency of healthcare provider are essential to improve better quality of service provisioned. The study evaluates competency of healthcare provider at Bhakti Yudha Hospital by using the competency standards established by multiple organizations of Indonesian national healthcare provider association mapped against eight units of health provider. The result stated that competency level of healthcare providers at Bhakti Yudha Hospital have had not met the expectations. It is concluded that working experiences and number of relevant training received has significant impact on competency level of healthcare provider.

Disintegration of the midline epithelial seam (MES) is crucial for palatal fusion, and failure results in cleft palate. Palatal fusion and wound repair share many common signaling pathways related to epithelial-mesenchymal cross-talk. We postulate that chemokine CXCL11, its receptor CXCR3, and the cytoprotective enzyme heme oxygenase (HO), which are crucial during wound repair, also play a decisive role in MES disintegration. Fetal growth restriction and craniofacial abnormalities were present in HO-2 knockout (KO) mice without effects on palatal fusion. Stimulation of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) by bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) initiates inflammation and promotes development of hepatocellular carcinoma and other liver diseases. NADPH oxidases contribute to LPS-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and modulate TLR responses, but whether these enzymes function in TLR4 responses of hepatocytes is unknown. The focus of this research is indentifying infection prevention and control program in Tebet hospital through observation of nursing action on infusion, bandage, injecting and waste management, and indentifying nurse’s characteristics, policies, facilities, monitoring and reporting of infection. This research using qualitative and quantitative approach. Unit analysis of this research is 105 of actions mentioned above by all nurses in the inpatient room.
