The caregiver health model (CGHM) is a new model that identifies health holistically and identifies four determinant(s) that contribute to the health status of the family caregiver. The structured vocabulary that describes gene function, the gene ontology (GO), serves as a powerful tool in biological research. One application of GO in computational biology calculates semantic similarity between two concepts to make inferences about the functional similarity of genes. A class of term similarity algorithms explicitly calculates the shared information (SI) between concepts then substitutes this calculation into traditional term similarity measures such as Resnik, Lin, and Jiang-Conrath. Alternative SI approaches, when combined with ontology choice and term similarity type, lead to many gene-to-gene similarity measures. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a competency-based interprofessional diabetes education module, using a multi-modular approach. The results of a needs assessment of health professionals revealed few opportunities for interprofessional diabetes education, other than through “on-the-job” training. A nurse-led, comprehensive diabetes education program was developed to support achievement of interprofessional competencies for health professions students prior to graduation for the improvement of population health for clients with diabetes, following the needs assessment. Certainly, the ACA has expanded insurance to millions of Americans, however, the evidence and discourse surrounding health accessibility calls into question why, despite the growth of insured Americans, the increase in health insurance coverage under the ACA has not lead to greater accessibility for low income minorities. This qualitative study explores how adolescents experience transition when they return to school after an acute mental health hospitalization. For this study, the term transition is used to describe the process of adjusting to the return from an acute mental health hospital to school. Eight adolescents from southern Minnesota, ages 15-17, were interviewed about their transition experience for this study. Each participant had experienced an acute hospitalization within 12 months of their interview. Each participant interview was recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using phenomenological research methods. Polyphenols content and antioxidant activity in Artemisia sieversiana Willd. were investigated in relation to the altitude of the plant growth in the Western Pamir region. Antioxidant activity generally correlated with the polyphenols content. However, no significant association was found between an altitude of the sample collection and polyphenols content or antioxidant activity.

At Akron General Cleveland Clinic (AGCC), current birth rates are double the amount the facility is designed to handle. Background: Physical activity rates have decreased in the past 30 years. Physical activity rates decline further among girls as they reach adolescence, yet studies suggest girls are more inclined to participate in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) while among peers. When in close social networks, girls who have more physically active friends report being more active themselves. Several mentor-based programs throughout the United States have increased physical activity among preadolescent girls, indicating that gender-relevant physical activity programs may reverse their declining rates of physical activity.

The primary purpose of this study was to determine distinguishing linguistic characteristics of song lyrics most commonly used for lyric analysis with mental health consumers, as measured by LIWC2015 software. Depression remains poorly diagnosed and treated in the general population as well as in patients with chronic illness including end-stage renal disease. Referrals to mental health providers and treatment for patients with depressive symptoms are suboptimal leading to decreased adherence to dialysis treatments, increased hospitalizations, and increased mortality. Helmets can offer significant injury protection to motorcyclists, yet usage is inconsistent across the United States. In 2012, the state of Michigan switched from a universal helmet law to partial helmet law. Michigan motorcyclists (n = 76) were recruited through two motorcycling events and two motorcycling social media pages to participate in an online survey that applied Health Belief Model constructs to examine attitudes and beliefs around the decision to wear or not wear a helmet. Significant differences in perceptions of Health Belief Model constructs were found between always-helmeted and not-always-helmeted respondents. Cancer patients are at a higher risk of developing anxiety and depression (A&D). A presumptive diagnosis of anxiety and depression was assessed based on a useful tool, the 14 item Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).
