Diffusion of innovation (DOI) is widely cited in the HIV behavior change literature; however there is a dearth of research on the application of DOI in interventions for sex workers. Following a randomized-controlled trial of HIV risk reduction among female entertainment workers (FEWs) in Shanghai, China, we used qualitative approaches to delineate potential interpersonal communication networks and contributing factors that promote diffusion of information in entertainment venues. Results showed that top-down communication networks from the venue owners to the FEWs were efficient for diffusion of information. Context: Altered neuromuscular control strategies during fatigue probably contribute to the increased incidence of non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injuries in female athletes.

Objective: To determine biomechanical differences between 2 fatigue protocols (slow linear oxidative fatigue protocol [SLO-FP] and functional agility short-term fatigue protocol [FAST-FP]) when performing a running-stop-jump task.

Design: Controlled laboratory study.

Setting: Laboratory.

Patients or Other Participants: A convenience sample of 15 female soccer players (age = 19.2 ± 0.8 years, height = 1.67± 0.05m, mass = 61.7 + 8.1 kg) without injury participated.

Objective: Socio-economic status (SES) is strongly correlated with hypertension. But SES has several components, including income and correlations in cross-sectional data need not imply SES is a risk factor. This study investigates whether wages-the largest category within income-are risk factors. Methods: We analysed longitudinal, nationally representative US data from four waves (1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005) of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics. The overall sample was restricted to employed persons age 25-65 years, n = 17 295. Separate subsamples were constructed of persons within two age groups (25-44 and 45-65 years) and genders. Back Bay and its flora have historically been influenced by the interaction of freshwater flow in combination with frequent intrusion of saline water into its basin. These events have resulted in a dynamic environmental setting influencing the abundance and composition of its phytoplankton community. Dominating these oligohaline waters is a diverse representation and high abundance of freshwater filamentous and colonial cyanobacteria. These include the nonheterocystous Planktolyngbya contorta, Planktolyngbya limnetica, and Pseudanabaena limnetica, taxa implicated as bloom producers in Bay waters with N:P molar ratios ranging from 23:1 to 74:1.

In the U.S., 22% of children under the age of 18 are Latino and 52% of Latino children have at least one parent who is foreign-born (Fry & Passel, 2009). Latinos are likely to experience acculturative strains associated with a range of negative outcomes such as academic underachievement. A mixed method sequential explanatory design was used to examine the protective effects of cultural factors that may ameliorate the negative effects of acculturative strains on psychological and academic adjustment.

Objective : This study was conducted to investigate predictors of mortality after isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Design : Retrospective study Setting : King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. Methods : Retrospective single-institutional data on risk factors and mortality were collected from 196 patients who underwent isolated CABG by the same group of surgeons from November 2007-October 2008. The relationship between risk factors and outcome was assessed using univariate and multivariate analyses. Results : The mean age of the patients (30.1% women and 69.9% men) was 61.1 +/- 9 years. Objective : To validate the Thai version of the Urogenital Distress Inventory (UDI) and Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ) for Thai women. Materials and Methods : The UDI and IIQ have been translated into Thai. Test - retest reliability and internal consistency were tested. Two hundred and eighteen patients who visited the urogynecologic clinic at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital between March 2008 and April 2010 completed the Thai version of UDI and IIQ. Esophageal necrosis is a rare complication of treatment of the descending thoracic or thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysm. It is almost always fatal. Sepsis and bleeding secondary to dehiscence of the aortic- graft suture line are main mechanisms of death. However, these patients can be saved by aggressive medical and surgical treatment. A 40-year-old male was transferred to this hospital because of severe epigastric pain secondary to concealed rupture of a descending aortic aneurysm. In 1960, Kouwenhoven observed that forceful compressions on the chest could produce an arterial pulse. Over the following years, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) became continuously advanced. Currently, experts at the conference on International Guidelines 2010 strongly recommend development of in-school CPR programs as a primary educational strategy to ensure wide-spread learning of CPR. During CPR the physician always gives priority to dealing with the life-threatening condition first. While CPR can save lives, it may also expose a high risk of injury to the patient. Problem/Background: Estimation of postmortem interval (PMI) is essential for supporting justice especially in legal cases. At early stage of death, the PMI can be evaluated using data from physical changes of the corpses. In case of the corpses that have died more than 48 hours, the physical change may be less accurate for prediction. The species identification of blowflies, early found on corpses, as well as the specific developmental stage are required for PMI estimation. However, it is not yet practical for morphological identification. To surpass these problems, DNAbased identification is preferentially applied.

Background. This study reports comparative phonological assessment results for children with cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) to typically developing peers using an evaluation tool for early phonological skills. Methods. Children without clefts (NC = noncleft) and 24 children with CLP, ages of 18–36 months, were evaluated using the Profile of Early Expressive Phonological Skills (PEEPSs) [1]. Children interacted with toy manipulatives to elicit a representative sample of target English consonants and syllable structures that are typically acquired by children between 18 and 27 months of age. The intent of this study is to conduct a preliminary investigation into whether cannabis substitution for prescription drugs results in lower rates of controlled substance use. The purpose of this report is to describe, using archival print media sources, the factors that influenced the passage of the controversial El Paso Clean Indoor Air Ordinance in 2001. Although public health professionals had had more than 50 years of evidence proving the dangers of tobacco consumption, very few municipalities were concerned with implementing bans of any type on indoor smoking in public places ten years ago.
