รายงานเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับการศึกษาปัญหาการเป็นสัดช้าในแม่สุกรหลังหย่านมและวิธีแก้ไข ในฟาร์มสุกร โครงการหมู่บ้านเกษตรกรรมกำแพงเพชร, คัมภีร์ กอธีระกุล, สมชาย เลาห์วีระพานิช

ศึกษาการแก้ไขปัญหาการไม่เป็นสัดในแม่สุกรหลังหย่านม ซึ่งพบมีตั้งแต่ 16-53% ต่อเดือน ในฟาร์มโครงการหมู่บ้านเกษตรกรรมกำแพงเพชร ตั้งแต่เดือน พฤษภาคมถึงเดือนสิงหาคม 2523 แม่สุกรที่ไม่แสดงอาการเป็นสัดหลังหย่านมระยะต่าง ๆ กัน จำนวน 61 ราย ถูกแบ่งออกเป็น 3 กลุ่ม ๆ แรก จำนวน 25 ตัวได้รับการฉีดสาร โปรสตาแกลนดินเอฟทอัลฟ่า จำนวน 125 - 200 ไมโครกรัม ในวันที่ 26.56 ± 10.80 วัน (ระยะ 6-48 วัน) หลังหย่านมแม่สุกรทุกตัวแสดงอาการเป็นสัดภายใน 7.04 ± 6.00 วัน ได้รับการผสมและติด 68% กลุ่มที่ 2 จำนวน 11 ตัว ได้รับ gonado- trophic hormone (FSH ขนาด 400 IU และ LH 400 IU) ในวันที่ 37.64 ± 22.03 วัน (ระยะ 13-78 วัน) แสดงอาการเป็นสัดทุกตัวใน 6.64 ± 5.77 วันหลัง ฉีดและผสมติด 72.70% ส่วนในกลุ่มที่ 3 ใช้ฉีด E.C.P. ขนาด 2 มก. แก่แม่สุกร 15 ตัว ซึ่งไม่เป็นสัดเป็นเวลา 24.57 ± 18.15 วัน (ระยะ 10-70 วัน) หลังฉีดเกิด การเป็นสัดภายใน 4.29 ± 4.63 วัน ผสมติด …

Male Buffalo rats were fed a control basal diet and diet containing a. α -BHC (500 ppm); b. AFB1 (1 ppm); and c. α -BHC (500 ppm) plus AFB1 (1 ppm) for period of 5,10,15,35, weeks. The diets were then replaced with Chow pellets for 30 weeks. The livers of the fed α-BHC or α-BHC plus AFB1 were markedly increased in size and exhibited centrolobular hepatic hypertrophy in comparison with the livers of the rats receiving AFB1 alone or those of the control. By Week 35, α-BHC produced large hepatic cytoplasmic inclusions and these changes were reversible at week 65. …

ประสิทธิภาพของยา Canex Plus ต่อพยาธิในทางเดินอาหารสุนัข, นิคม เสวกาพานิช, งามตา ศรีสกุล, นาลละออ สงวนดิสกุล, มานพ ม่วงใหญ่

การทดลองใช้ยา Canex Plus (R) ซึ่งประกอบด้วย Oxantel pamoate a Pyrantel pamoate เพื่อกำจัดพยาธิในทางเดินอาหารของสุนัขซึ่งเป็น สาเหตุที่สำคัญยิ่งปัญหาหนึ่งโดยการให้ยาครั้งเดียวในขนาด 1 เม็ด/น้ำหนักตัว 7 กิโลกรัม ในสุนัขทดลองจำนวน 15 ตัว แล้วดูผลของยาถ่ายพยาธิ 3 วันหลังให้ยาเปรียบเทียบ กับสุนัขอีกกลุ่มจำนวน 8 ตัวที่ไม่ได้ให้ยา พบว่า Canex Plus (R) สามารถลดจำนวน ไข่พยาธิแส้ม้าได้ 100% ใน 3 วัน แต่ลดจำนวนไข่พยาธิปากขอและพยาธิไส้เดือนได้ ไม่หมดทุกตัว และเมื่อคํานวณหาค่าประสิทธิภาพของยานี้ต่อตัวแก่ของพยาธิแส้ม้าได้ 94.44% ต่อพยาธิปากขอได้ 62.39% และต่อมาพยาธิไส้เดือนได้ 100% แต่ไม่ได้ผล ต่อพยาธิตัวจี๊ดและพยาธิเม็ดแตงกวา

438 day-old-piglets from 45 litters and 454 piglets from 127 litters were used for the prevention and treatment purposes in this study which E-coli (70.03%) was the dominant pathogen on this experimental farm. For the first trial, each piglet in each litter was randomly divided into three groups. A single oral dose of Linco-Spectin Pig Pump was administered to the group of 144 piglets compared to another two group of 144 piglets and 150 piglets which were treated with Biosol-M pump and negative control respectively. สุนัขพันธุ์สปิทซ์เพศผู้ อายุ 5 ปี มีเลือดออกจากปลายหนังหุ้มอวัยวะเพศ ตรวจพบก้อนเนื้อลักษณะคล้ายดอกกระหล่ำสีชมพูที่อวัยวะสืบพันธุ์ นอกจากนี้ยังพบก้อน เนื้อลักษณะคล้ายกันที่ผิวหนัง บริเวณรักแร้ซ้าย หัวเข่าซ้าย และบริเวณฝีเย็บ (perineal area) รักษาด้วยการผ่าตัดโดยการเลาะเอาก้อนเนื้อดังกล่าวทั้งหมดออก ตรวจก้อนเนื้อทางจุลพยาธิวิทยาพบเป็นก้อนเนื้อชนิดแกรนูโลม่า (transmisible venereal tumour) หลังจากนั้น 3 เดือน ตรวจพบมีการเจริญใหม่ของก้อนเนื้องอก แกรนูโลม่าที่เยื่อบุภายใน ของหนังหุ้มอวัยวะเพศ จึงได้ทําการเลาะก้อนเนื้อออกอีก ครั้งหนึ่ง และสุนัขได้หายเป็นปกติในสองสัปดาห์ต่อมา

สัตว์ป่วยเป็นสุนัขเพศเมีย อายุ 9 ปี พันธุ์ดอกเกอร์สเปเนียล นำมา รักษาที่โรงพยาบาลสัตว์เล็ก คณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย เจ้าของสังเกตพบก้อนโตแข็ง ใต้คอด้านซ้ายแต่สุนัขไม่ได้แสดงอาการเจ็บปวด การตรวจคลําพบก้อนกลมแข็งในช่องท้องได้เก็บเลือดตรวจทางโลหิตวิทยา เปลี่ยนแปลงเป็นนัยสำคัญ การตรวจโดยฉายรังสีเอ็กซ์พบตับโต ม้ามโต relative narrowing of intervertebral space of L1-L2 spondylosis of L1-L4-L5-L6 ในระยะหลังสุนัขมีสภาพทรุดลง มีอาการเบื่ออาหาร โลหิตจาง มีการ ติดเชื้อที่ก้อนแข็งใต้คอ เจ็บปวดบริเวณส่วนท้ายของลําตัว ส่องขาหลังไม่มีแรงและไม่เดินในที่สุดเจ้าของจึงอนุญาตให้ฉีดยาทําลายสัตว์ รวมระยะเวลาการรักษาประมาณ 3 เดือนครึ่ง จากการผ่าซากและตรวจทางจุลพยาธิวิทยาพบก้อนแข็งใต้คอเป็น malignant melanoma (spindle cell type) และมีการแพร่กระจายไปที่ปอด ตับและม้าม basilar cells ของ epidermis แล้วกระจายรงควัตถุเมลานินไปในชั้น epidermis และ hair follicles ดังนั้นเนื้องอกชนิดนี้จึงพบมากที่ผิวหนังในสัตว์เกือบ ทุกชนิด แม้กระทั่งปลา (Smith et al.,1972) นอกจากนี้ก้อนเนื้องอกเมลาโนมา อาจเกิดจาก chromatophores ของม่านตาได้ (Bloom, 1942)

School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences: Faculty Publications

Although it has been clearly demonstrated that antibodies to pneumococcal capsules are protective in both mice and men (1, 2), the protective properties of antibodies to other pneumococcal constituents have been less well investigated. In the present report we describe results indicating that naturally occurring antibodies binding with the phosphocholine (PC) determinant of the pneumococcal cell wall C-carbohydrate (3) are important in the protection of mice from experimental pneumococcal infections.

การให้ Arsanilic acid ผสมในอาหารไก่ด้วยขนาด Treated dose (45 - 90 gm/ton) (F.A.C., 1980) ช่วยให้ไก่เจริญเติบโตเร็วขึ้น และได้น้ำหนัก ประมาณ 2 ก.ก. ภายในเวลา 60 วัน ไก่บางตัวแสดงอาการผิดปกติให้เห็นทั้งด้วย ตาเปล่าและทางกล้องจุลทัศน์ แต่ถ้าให้ไก่กินสารดังกล่าว เพิ่มขึ้นอีก 20 เท่า จะทําให้ ไก่ไม่เจริญเติบโต มีอาการผิดปกติบริเวณที่ข้อต่อ ไก่จะเดินวางเท้าและข้อขนาดกับพื้น การตรวจโดยกล้องจุลทัศน์พบริการที่ตับและกล้ามเนื้อ ปริมาณสารหนูที่พบในอวัยวะต่าง ๆ ของไก่ทดลองใกล้เคียงกับปริมาณที่พบในไก่ที่ขายอยู่ในท้องตลาด และพบมากที่สุดที่ขนถึง 6.1 ppm.

การเจาะเลือดจาก jugular vein ในไก่ทําได้โดยวิธีนั่งหรือวิธียืน เทคนิคในการเจาะเลือดทั้งสองวิธีแตกต่างกันเพียงเล็กน้อย วิธีนั่งเจาะเหมาะสำหรับ ลูกไก่อายุตั้งแต่ 1 วัน ถึง 10 สัปดาห์ ส่วนวิธียืนเจาะ เหมาะสำหรับไก่อายุ 10 สัปดาห์ขึ้นไป ปริมาณเลือดเฉลี่ยที่ได้จากการเจาะเลือดจาก jugalar vein ของ ลูกไก่ 10 ตัว อายุ 1 วัน, 3 สัปดาห์ และ 10 สัปดาห์ คือ 0.6, 3.4 และ 12.1 มล. ตามลำดับ และ hematoma หลังจากการเจาะเลือดโดยวิธีนี้มีน้อยมาก

รายงานเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับน้ำเชื้อกระบือปลักแช่แข็ง, บุญญวัฒน์ สนิทวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา, มานิตย์ ธนิตรวงค์, อาภรณ์ บุญคุ้ม, มานิต พันธุ์ประภา, สุรจิต ทองสอดแสง

จากการทดลองขั้นพื้นฐานพบว่า น้ำยาละลายชนิด Egg Yolk Tris ประสิทธิภาพดีที่สุดในการทําน้ำเชื้อกระบือปลักแช่แข็ง เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับน้ำยาละลาย อีก 2 ชนิด คือ Egg Yolk Citrate และ Citric Acid Whey จึงเลือกใช้ Egg Yolk Tris เป็นน้ำยาละลายในการทดลองผลิตน้ำเชื้อพอกระบือปลักแช่แข็ง ซึ่งได้เริ่ม ทดลองทําครั้งแรกในเดือน มิถุนายน 2521 โดยทําการรีดเก็บน้ําเชื้อจากพ่อกระบือปลัก 2 ตัว ที่สถานีผสมเทียมขอนแก่น จำนวน 44 ejaculates ในช่วงระยะเวลา 6 เดือน นำน้ำเชื้อที่รีดเก็บได้แต่ละครั้งมาเจือจางด้วย Egg Yolk Tris diluent ตามอัตรา ส่วนต่าง ๆ โดยให้มีปริมาณของตัวเชื้อเท่ากับ 30 ล้านตัวต่อปริมาตร 0.25 ลบ.ซม. ทําให้เย็นลงจนถึง 5⁰ ซ. แล้วบรรจุในกระติกน้ําแข็งที่มีอุณหภูมิ 5⁰ ซ. ส่งมาทําเป็น น้ำเชื้อแช่แข็งที่ศูนย์ผสมเทียมฯ ปทุมธานี โดยรักษาระยะ Equilibration time ให้อยู่ในระหว่าง 4-8 ชั่วโมง และบรรจุน้ำเชื้อใน French ministraw 0.25 ลบ.ซม. Freeze ในไอของไนโตรเย็นเหลวที่อุณหภูมิ – 120⁰ ซ. นาน 10 นาที ลบ.ซม.Freeze แล้วเก็บรักษาไว้ในไนโตรเยนเหลวอุณหภูมิ -196⁰ ซ. ได้ส่งน้ำเชื้อดังกล่าวไปทดลองใช้ผสมกับแม่กระบือปลักของสมาชิกผสมเทียมที่สถานีผสมเทียมเชียงใหม่, สันป่าตองและลําพูน ตั้งแต่วันที่ 15 มิถุนายน 2522 ถึงวันที่ 10 พฤศจิกายน 2522 จากผลการศึกษา พบว่าค่าเฉลี่ย Motility ของน้ําเชื้อแช่แข็งที่ละลายแล้ว (Post thaw motility) เท่ากับ …

Injuries To Birds Of Prey Caught In Leghold Traps, Katherine Durham

International Journal for the Study of Animal Problems

One hundred and seventy-three raptors, including 32 Bald Eagles, have been treated for trapping injuries at the University of Minnesota Raptor Research and Rehabilitation Program since 1972. These birds were primarily caught in "open" bait leghold sets incidental to furbearer trapping in the Minnesota region. The differential outcome of the injuries concerning crippling or mortality is presented for large versus small raptors, toe versus leg injuries, and leg fracture versus soft tissue damage only. There is only limited potential for mitigating the effects of trapping injuries.

The emotional effects of euthanizing unwanted animals on professional animal control personnel are examined using written statements of and discussions among twenty-six euthanasia technicians at a workshop during a national session of the Animal Control Academy (Tuscaloosa, AL]. Emotional conflicts arise .in significant part from the dilemma that the same public which is responsible for the problem of unwanted animals also has a markedly negative perception of euthanasia, and by extension, of those who perform euthanasia. During discussions, the euthanasia technicians revealed a variety of strategies for coping with feelings of isolation, alienation and sorrow. These included intellectualization, avoidance of …

A method of dissection followed by staining was initiated to allow physiological age- grading based on ovarian development in order to more completely describe the physiological development of adult female stable flies [Stomoxys calcitrans (L. )]. The gonotrophic developmental continuum from a non-differentiated cell in teneral females to mature eggs at the time of oviposition was first arbitrarily divided into six stages by using distinct landmarks within the developing oocyte .
