Simparica TRIO®, a canine endectocide manufactured by Zoetis, contains sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel pamoate salt in an orally administered chewable tablet. These compounds are all toxic to both cats and dogs in sufficient amounts. As Simparica TRIO® rises in popularity among pet owners, Felis catus (felines, cats) in multi-pet households (households with both cats and dogs) are at increased risk of overdosage and toxicosis from accidental ingestion of Simparica TRIO® due to their smaller weight.

A two-year-old spayed female mongrel cat presenting with right hind limb lameness with intermittent weight bearing while walking was taken to the veterinary medicine teaching hospital of National Chung Hsing University. Both drawer test and tibial compression test were positive, stifle radiography showed synovial fluid had become more radiopaque. The tentative diagnosis for the cat was rupture of the right cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL), medical management using corticosteroids was prescribed with anticoagulants and surgical treatment recommended. A 6-month-old, 4.45 kg, intact, male domestic shorthair cat was presented with a gingival mass located on the left rostral maxilla and second left upper premolar tooth. Intraoral x-ray of the left rostral maxilla revealed left maxilla bone lysis with a unilocular cystic lesion. The cytology result revealed an epithelial cell tumor .A left rostral maxillectomy was performed and the tumor was submitted for histological assessment .Histopathological diagnosis of the tissue revealed a feline inductive odontogenic tumor .There was no evidence of tumor recurrence 24 months after surgery.

Two 3-month-old, male, domestic short hair, cats of the same litter were presented to the small animal teaching hospital with the clinical sign of head tremor for 2 weeks. Three months later, the clinical sign had worsened. Both kittens had loss of balance and showed intention tremor. Physical examination revealed hypertelorism, depressed bridge of the nose and back pain. Radiography showed shortened cervicothoracic vertebral bodies. Common injectable anesthetics in cats are alpha-2 receptor agonists and tiletamine/zolazepam. Xylazine shows higher rate of side effects because its lower specificity to alpha-2 receptors than dexmeditomidine. However, the use of drug combinations in cats is not much known. Therefore, alternative anesthetic combination should be investigated. Here, we examined the use of tiletamine/zolazepam with two doses of dexmedetomidine in cats. This case report describes the successful use of fluralaner in treating demodicosis caused by Demodex cati in a cat. A 4.2 kg 10 – year – old spayed female Siamese short – haired cat was presented with a 5 – month history of severe dermatitis. A 6-year-old neutered male Siamese cat was presented with an acute onset of vomiting, anorexia and lethargy lasting for four days. An abdominal mass was palpated on physical examination. The cat showed severe anemia, elevated liver enzymes and hypoalbuminemia. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a suspected hepatic mass without blood flow within the affected region. Computed tomography was performed to better visualize the abdominal cavity and blood flow. Prompt diagnosis of torsion of the left lateral liver lobe was made and immediate surgery for liver lobectomy was performed. Histopathological examination revealed no evidence of neoplasia. Background: The study objective was to examine cat owner ectoparasiticide purchases in the United States and estimate the impact of purchase gaps on timely ectoparasite protection administration. These purchase gaps lead to periods of time when cats are unprotected from ectoparasites.

Methods: Ectoparasiticide purchase transactions for individual cats from 671 U.S. veterinary clinics from January 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019 were evaluated to determine time “gaps” between doses of ectoparasiticides purchased in a defined 12-month period. Ectoparasiticides examined were topically applied products that contained fluralaner, fipronil/(S)-methoprene/pyriproxyfen, imidacloprid/pyriproxyfen or selamectin as active ingredients. A two-year-old male domestic short hair cat was referred with a history of lower urinary tract obstruction. Four months previously, this animal showed clinical signs of hematuria. On physical examination, the cat showed signs of mild abdominal cramping and painful urination or dysuria. FIV and FeLV infections are mostly studied among clinically sick cats; therefore, results may deviate from the true prevalence in a whole population. By using a commercially available kit, the infections were observed in 216 clinically health client-owned cats in Khon Kaen province, Thailand. A cross-sectioned study was undertaken to estimate the presence of FIV and FeLV infections in the cats which underwent health checkup from October 2016 to January 2017. The prevalence of FIV-antibody positive and FeLV-antigenic cats were 6.1% and 3.1%, respectively, and co-infection was not identified. A 3-year-old, 2.5-kg British shorthair cat with dystocia and protrusion of a mass through the vulva was presented to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, İstanbul University. Upon clinical examination, a complete uterine prolapse was diagnosed. Because of a blood blister and oedema in the uterine horns, ovariohysterectomy treatment was decided. During laparotomy, one foetus was detected in the cranial portion of the left uterine horn. The objective of this study was to distinguish between cats with cardiac disease and non-cardiac disease by using parameters obtained from thoracic radiographs. This study was performed in 49 cats with a mean age of 7.7±4.79 years. Weight, sex and breed of all cats were randomly chosen. Merkel cell tumors, a type of cutaneous round-cell tumors, are rarely observed in dogs and cats. This tumor type originates from cutaneous neuroendocrine cells. In the present study, the morphology of canine and feline Merkel cell tumors and their immunoexpression of neuron-specific enolase, cytokeratin, chromogranin A, Ki67, and metallothionein were evaluated using histopathological and immunohistochemical methods. The canine Merkel cell tumor displayed a diffuse morphological pattern, whereas the feline tumor displayed a solid morphological pattern. Successful treatment of Microsporum canis infection in a 8 - year – old, male Thai - mixed breed cat using a fungal vaccine containing inactivated M. canis by 3 subcutaneously injection 14 days apart was reported. A reduction of the lesions and hair regrowth had improved by day 14 after the first injection. There were no adverse effects in the cat during the entire treatment. The results of this study indicate that an inactivated M. canis vaccine may be effective therapy for M. canis infection.

The objective of this study was to examine the expression of 4 clinically-important Mex systems including MexAB-OprM, MexCD-OprJ, MexEF-OprN and MexXY in the Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates from dogs and cats. The isolates exhibited high level of resistance to multiple antibiotics clinically important. All of them simultaneously overexpressed up to three different Mex systems, including MexAB-OprM, MexEF-OprN and MexXY as determined by RT-PCR. None of the isolates overexpressed MexCD-OprJ. Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), or dermatosparaxis, is a rare hereditary disease of the connective tissue, which is characterized by skin hyperextensibility and laxity. In the present article, the case of a crossbred female spayed cat, at the age of 2 years, was presented with hyperelasticity of the skin, alopecia, and an ulcerative wound on the left hind leg. The animal's dorsum was hyperextensible, smooth to the touch, and could be easily torn with minor traumas. To the best of the authors' knowledge, the present report is the first documented feline case of cutaneous asthenia in Turkey.

Dorsal luxation of the scapula is a rare orthopedic disorder caused by traumatic rupture of the muscles supporting the scapula. The presented case consisted of an adult cat in which luxation of the scapula had occurred due to trauma. During clinical examination, dorsal displacement of the scapula was evident upon manipulation of the limb. Radiological examination did not reveal any fractures or other concurrent injuries. In the surgical treatment of the patient, the muscles were sutured in place. The patient regained its normal gait without any complications within 4 weeks.

Amiodarone can be used for treatment of ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias in canine medicine, but its exact role in feline electrocardiography and its side effects have not been proven. The aim of this study was the evaluation of amiodarone and its different dosages' effects on intact feline heart electrocardiograms. Eight healthy stray cats were selected and control electrocardiogram was obtained. Amiodarone tablets were prescribed twice daily at 10 mg/kg for 7 days. The same protocol was repeated with doses of 15 and 25 mg/kg. Hexagonal electrocardiograms were obtained at the end of each stage. Electrocardiograms were evaluated for P amplitude …
