A prototype for a wireless sensor network has been designed to detect and identify unauthorized wireless transmissions in a frequency spectrum. This prototype design is intended to detect unauthorized transmissions within the FM band of frequencies independently at individual nodes with Software Defined Radio receivers and transmit that information to a fusion center for aggregation using a Bluetooth mesh network. Aggregated results will be displayed to the user through a Graphical User Interface at the fusion center.

Open RAN is a promising cellular technology that is currently undergoing extensive research for future wireless radio access networks. Achieving optimal energy efficiency in Open RAN poses a significant challenge. This paper introduces a CPU scheduling algorithm that specifically targets this chal- lenge by optimizing energy consumption at the base station while maintaining optimal performance levels. This paper focuses on enhancing autonomous vehicle intersection navigation through advanced computer vision and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication systems. In the first phase, an approach utilizing YOLOv8s is proposed for precise traffic light detection and recognition, trained on the Small-Scale Traffic Light Dataset (S2TLD). The onset of quantum computing threatens commonly used schemes for information secrecy across wireless communication channels, particularly key-based data-level encryption. This calls for secrecy schemes that can provide everlasting secrecy resistant to increased computational power of an adversary. One novel physical layer scheme proposes that an intended receiver capable of performing analog cancellation of a known key-based interference would hold a significant advantage in recovering small underlying messages versus an eavesdropper performing cancellation after analog-to-digital conversion. The goal of this paper is to improve the detection performance and the false alarm regulation of the conventional order statistics Constant False Alarm Rate (OS-CFAR) detectors in a non-homogeneous Gaussian environment. To this end, we design and study the New Sorting Weighting (NSW-) and the Modified Sorting Weighting (MSW-) CFAR detectors. With recent advances in machine learning and deep learning technologies and the creation of larger aviation-specific corpora, applying natural language processing technologies, especially those based on transformer neural networks, to aviation communications is becoming increasingly feasible. Previous work has focused on machine learning applications to natural language processing, such as N-grams and word lattices. This thesis experiments with a process for pretraining transformer-based language models on aviation English corpora and compare the effectiveness and performance of language models transfer learned from pretrained checkpoints and those trained from their base weight initializations (trained from scratch). Each device’s local clock differs slightly, affecting the times at which packets are transmitted from different nodes in the network. The potential for high spatio-temporal resolution microwave measurements has urged the adoption of the signals of opportunity (SoOp) passive radar technique for use in remote sensing. Recent trends in particular target highly complex remote sensing problems such as root-zone soil moisture and snow water equivalent. This dissertation explores the continued open-sourcing of the SoOp coherent bistatic scattering model (SCoBi) and its use in soil moisture sensing applications. Blind source separation (BSS) is performed on frequency hopping (FH) sources. These radio frequency (RF) signals are observed by a uniform linear array (ULA) over a Spatial Channel Model (SCM) in four different propagation environments: (i) line-of-sight (LOS), (ii) single-cluster, (iii) multiple-cluster, and (iv) LOS with interference. The sources are spatially sparse, and their activity is intermittent and assumed to follow a hidden Markov model (HMM). The problem of high-current radio engineering devices is related to the fact that the use of high-power transistors and other semiconductor devices is limited by such a phenomenon as a secondary breakdown, in which there is a sharp decrease in the voltage on the device with simultaneous internal current lacing, and the device fails. WiFi sensing offers a powerful method for tracking physical activities using the radio-frequency signals already found throughout our homes and offices. Wireless communication systems have seen significant advancements with the introduction of 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile standards. Since the simulation of entire systems is complex and may not allow evaluation of the impact of individual techniques, this thesis presents techniques and results for simulating the performance of advanced signaling techniques used in 3G, 4G, and 5G systems, including Code division multiple access (CDMA), Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems, and Low-Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes. This work proposes a neural network architecture that was designed to predict and reverse engineer frequency hopping jamming systems. The neural network was initially optimized for use with a 12th order linear shift feedback register maximum length sequence utilizing a minimal polynomial as the characteristic polynomial. This neural network was then scaled to accommodate 7 different sequences, of orders 6 through 12. The neural network was trained for these sequences using training data that is 10 times the length of the sequence. Abstract Phase wraparound due to large inter-sensor spacings in multi-channel demixing limits the range of relative delays that many time–frequency relative delay estimators can estimate. The performance of a large relative delay estimation method, called the elevatogram, is evaluated in the presence of significant phase wraparound. This paper compares the elevatogram with the popular relative delay estimator used in DUET and the brute-force approach in D-AdRess and analyses its computational efficiency. This paper extends a computationally efficient, soft-mask based source separation (SS) technique called Redress, to anechoic mixing scenarios. SS methods are an integral part of hearing aid research. We call the resulting method D-Redress. In its original form, Redress was intended for instantaneous mixing scenarios. Numerical evaluations demonstrate that soft-mask based techniques reduce the level of artifacts in the separated speech. Monte Carlo trials on 1000 real speech mixtures demonstrate that the D-Redress successfully extends Redress in terms of Overall-Perceptual (OPS), Target-Perceptual (TPS) scores and Human-Ear Intelligibility (HEI).
