Pedestrian Dynamic Aggregation Simulation Model With Emotional Affection, Xiang Nan, Lingyun Zhu, Mingmin Zhang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In order to improve the fidelity of dynamic aggregation process of virtual pedestrian, the relationship between gathering process and emotion contagion were simulated by integrating individual emotional interaction into crowd model. Individuals within the crowd firstly chose moving target and produced aggregation according to their expectation. The gathering process propagated the influences of target through the emotional interaction of individuals. The propagated influences affected individuals' expectation which made further efforts on crowd aggregation. Social force for simulating moving individuals and heat conduction theory were adopted by the model to simulate the emotional contagion of the crowd. Experimental results show …

Improved Pivoting Ball Algorithm For Nonuniform Point Cloud Data, Silan Hu, Mingquan Zhou, Wuyang Shui, Zhongke Wu
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Ball Pivoting algorithm is mainly used for surface reconstruction of point cloud data, the algorithm starts from a seed triangle, the ball along the seed triangle a side of rotation until the ball is exposed to a point and the edge and the composition of a triangle. The main disadvantage of this algorithm is that when the point cloud data is not uniform when the ball in the rolling process does not contact the point, and therefore will have a hole. A non-uniform point cloud data for improved reconstruction of the Ball Pivoting algorithm of the original point cloud …

3d Model Retrieval Based On Hand-Drawn Sketches, Dianhui Mao, Huanpu Yin, Haisheng Li, Cai Qiang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Currently, retrieve 3d models use hand-drawn sketch as query has become an active research field. In the Bag of Feature (BoF) framework, the granularity of the distinction and expression brought by the "hard clustering" is insufficient. To solve this problem, a new method was proposed: GALIF feature was extracted from each sketch and the set of view images of models. BOF was replaced by a feature coding based on “soft clustering”--Gaussian mixture model. A fast and effective manifold ranking algorithm was used to calculate the manifold similarity between images, giving the final retrieve results. The previous methods …

Modeling And Simulation Of A Supercritical Co2-Liquid Sodium Compact Heat Exchanger For Sodium Fast Reactors, Hailei Wang, Sean M. Kissick
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Faculty Publications
The study focuses on modeling and simulations of sodium-sCO2 intermediary compact heat exchangers for sodium-cooled fast reactors (SFR). A simplified 1-D analytical model was developed in companion with a 3-D CFD model. Using classic heat transfer correlations for Nusselt number, some simulation results using the 1-D model have achieved reasonable match with the CFD simulation results for longer channels (i.e., 40 cm and 80 cm). However, for short channel (10 cm) when axial conduction within the sodium fluid is significant, the 1-D model significantly over-predicted the heat transfer effectiveness. By incorporating the temperature-jump model, the 1-D model can extend its …

Image Object Extraction Based On Semantic Segmentation And Label Loss, Xiaoru Wang, Peirong Xu, Zhihong Yu, Fu Li
Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations
Object extraction refers to the operation of obtaining an object area from an image based on a small amount of mark information given by users, which is a key step in image processing. In order to obtain a complete object profile, current methods usually require a large number of manual annotations, especially for objects with irregular contours. Since traditional algorithms rely on low-level pixel features without semantic information, and are based on obvious mathematical assumptions (ie, strong inductive bias), it is difficult to completely identify objects. At present, in order to improve the integrity of object extraction, semantic segmentation-based methods …

Optical materials engineered to dynamically and selectively manipulate electromagnetic waves are essential to the future of modern optical systems. In this paper, we simulate various metasurface configurations consisting of periodic 1D bars or 2D pillars made of the ternary phase change material Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST). Dynamic switching behavior in reflectance is exploited due to a drastic refractive index change between the crystalline and amorphous states of GST. Selectivity in the reflection and transmission spectra is manipulated by tailoring the geometrical parameters of the metasurface. Due to the immense number of possible metasurface configurations, we train deep neural networks capable of exploring …
