هدفت هذه الدراسة التعرف إلى واقع ممارسة طلبة كلية التربية بجامعة الخليل للأنشــطة الطلابــية ومعوقاتها من وجهة نظرهم، وبيان مدى اختلاف درجة ممارسة هذه الأنشطة ودرجة معوقات ممارستها باختلاف متغيرات الدراسة: الجنس، والمستوى الدراسي. تم اختيار عينة عشوائية طبقية بلغت (123) طالباً وطالبة بنسبة 9% من طلبة كلية التربية بجامعة الخليل في الفصل الدراسي الثاني 2013 / 2014. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن درجة ممارسة الأنشطة الطلابية جاءت بدرجة متوسطة وبمتوسط حسابي ( للدرجة الكلية) مقداره (2.96) وكذلك درجة معوقات ممارسة الأنشطة الطلابية جاءت بدرجة متوسطة وبمتوسط حسابي ( للدرجة الكلية) مقداره (3.03) وفق مقياس (ليكرت الخماسي)، كما أظهرت النتائج عدم …

تعلم الهندسة في فلسطين: نظرة على أداء الطلبة والمعلمين, Jehad Shweekh

هذه الدراسة جزء من دراسة عامة تناولت وضع تعلم وتعليم الهندسة في فلسطين من خلال دراسة مستويات التفكير الهندسي لدى الطلبة والمعلمين وكذلك مستويات التفكير الهندسي المقدمة في كتب الرياضيات المدرسية في فلسطين، لكننا نركز هنا فقط على الطلبة والمعلمين. تكونت عينة الطلبة من 1240 طالبا وطالبة في الصفوف السادس والثامن والعاشر. أما عينة المعلمين فكانت عينة عشوائية طبقية تكونت من 191 معلماً ومعلمة للرياضيات موزعين على كافة محافظات الضفة الغربية. وأظهرت النتائج انخفاض مستويات التفكير الهندسي بين أوساط الطلبة، فمثلاً ثلث الطلبة تقريباً لم يحققوا المستوى صفر وهو المستوى الأدنى من التفكير الهندسي. يمكن القول أن معظم الطلبة يقعون …

The model for the solvent extraction of palm kernel oil from palm kernel was generated for the process at varying particle sizes of palm kernel, temperature of extraction, duration of extraction and mass of palm kernel respectively using Least Square Linear Equation. Petroleum ether was used as solvent to carry out the extraction in a soxhlet apparatus. The percentage oil yield was determined for every extraction carried out. The experimental results obtained showed that percentage oil yield decreases with increase in particle size and mass, but increases with increase in the temperature and duration of extraction. In Palestine, grape culture consists of ecotypes and cultivars (also called local varieties), for which a large number of homonymous and synonymous designations exist as well as misnaming of cultivars. The present study is the first report using detailed ampelographic characterizations (39 informative traits) to assess genetic diversity and detect similarities among sixteen accessions collected from putative diverse grape genotypes In general, 30 descriptors presented highly and satisfactory divergent genotypes, whereas the remaining traits showed no or very little ampelographic variation. A manually operated foot leverage pedal with adjustable blades guillotine cutter was designed and constructed using locally available materials. This machine was designed to shear variety of materials with various thicknesses and sizes depending on the cutting blade capacity and the shearing angle, which cuts the materials with minimal waste and without the formation of chips and bending of the material. In this paper the performance analysis of Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) is conducted for a differential QPSK (DQPSK) signals with post-detection equal gain combining (EGC) receiver operating over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) as well as for slow frequency nonselective η − µ fading channels, in which the diversity branches can have unequal signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) as well as different severity parameters. The average bit error probability (ABEP) is evaluated using MGF-based approach. The average BER per multi-hop route of MANETs for this communication is studied.

This paper details the design and fabrication of a burner system, operating on biogas, for use in remote or rural regions of developing countries such as Nigeria. A desirable use for such a system in these areas is domestic cooking, and the burner has been designed with this need in mind, focusing on characteristics such as simplicity, cost effectiveness, efficiency and safety. Several thymes species were grown in Palestine and have socio-economical values. Traditionally, morphological features are used for their taxonomy and discrimination. However, these methods fail to provide an accurate for discrimination and authentication, suggesting the use of other method inevitable. In this study, RAPD method was used for genotypes identification and characterization of five most socio-economical Palestinian thymes: Thymus syriacus, Thymus fruticosus, Thymus incanus, Thymus majorana, and Thymus capitatus. The overwintering modes of E. necator were studied on Palestinian vineyards, through observations on the differentiation and maturation of cleistothecia and on the occurrence of flag-shoots (deriving from overwintering mycelium) in vineyards. Olive Leaf Spot (OLS) infecting upper surface of olive leaves has a long latent infection period. In this work, VIS/NIR spectroscopy was used to determine the latent infection and severity of the pathogens. Two different classification methods were used, Partial Least Squared-Discrimination Analysis (PLS-DA) (linear method) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) (non-linear). The majority of research on covert networks uses social network analysis (SNA) to determine critical members of the network to either kill or capture for the purpose of network destabilization. This thesis takes the opposite approach and evaluates potential scenarios for inserting an agent into a covert network for information gathering purposes or future disruption operations. Due to the substantial number of potential insertion scenarios in a large network, this research proposes three screening heuristics that leverage SNA measures to reduce the solution space before applying a simple search heuristic.

Large and rapidly growing cities and other urban agglomerations have the potential to become incubators of political instability. This is especially true of rapidly growing cities which are located in countries that are also experiencing high rates of growth in their youth population. Rapid growth rates put stress on urban infrastructure and other institutions, and these stresses can cause major problems for both city and national governments. Knowing when these cities and countries may be trending toward their tipping points regarding political instability will help governments and international organizations develop and implement effective strategies to mitigate the risk of instability.

We study the role of ride-hailing surge factors on the allocative efficiency of taxis by combining a reduced-form estimation with structural analyses using machine-learning-based demand predictions. Where other research study the effect of entry on incumbent taxis, we use higher frequency granular data to study how location-time-specific surge factors affect taxi bookings to bound the effect of customer decisions while accounting for various confounding variables. Adaptation is key to minimizing heatwaves' societal burden; however, our understanding of adaptation capacity across the socioeconomic spectrum is incomplete. We demonstrate that observed heatwave trends in the past four decades were most pronounced in the lowest-quartile income region of the world resulting in >40% higher exposure from 2010 to 2019 compared to the highest-quartile income region. Lower-income regions have reduced adaptative capacity to warming, which compounds the impacts of higher heatwave exposure. We also show that individual contiguous heatwaves engulfed up to 2.5-fold larger areas in the recent decade (2010–2019) as compared to the 1980s. Widespread heatwaves can overwhelm …
