Education For The Wise Use Of Leisure Time In The Schools Of Today, Edna J. Shafer
Bachelors’ Theses
It is the purpose of the writer to discuss briefly, education for the wise use of leisure time in the schools of today. Such would be an actual cultural education.

Intelligence Testing For School Application, Estelle C. Schraeder
Intelligence Testing For School Application, Estelle C. Schraeder
Bachelors’ Theses
The chief concern of education today is how to help an individual realize his life's ultimate goal as completely as possible by urging and developing-his possibilities through the basis of what he has. In the very recent years the foremost problem in child training has been how to make the school fit the child rather than the child fit the school. The vital question is how to make a child's school work a part of his life and to bring into effect a congruity between "lesson learning", and experience. During the past ten years, education has become more of a …

Survey Of Intelligence Tests, Godfrey F. Schulz
Survey Of Intelligence Tests, Godfrey F. Schulz
Bachelors’ Theses
The aim of this paper is to give what I consider the most important phases of mental testing. In the first place I shall write of the "History of Intelligence Testing ." In this part of the work I shall show how mental testing grew out of the study of individual differences and also out of the study of human behavior. I also wish to show what the different countries, those of France, Germany, England and the United States, contributed toward the development of mental testing. In the second place I shall show the two different sides of the controversy …

Discipline As A Moral Issue In The Elementary School, Jeanette M. Whalen
Bachelors’ Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to point out how discipline is still a big problem for the inexperienced teacher, and that as a moral issue it is also a perplexing problem confronting the experienced teacher. In the first chapter it shows that a good understanding of psychology is necessary to approach the problem of discipline and that the teacher must have the qualities necessary to make her a leader and an inspiration to those in her charge. In the following chapters the method of instilling good morals and producing healthy moral characters is brought out by means of co-ordination …
The Place Of Extra-Curricular Activities In The Junior High School, Borgia Rettler
The Place Of Extra-Curricular Activities In The Junior High School, Borgia Rettler
Bachelors’ Theses
"Extra-Curricular Activities" is becoming a familiar phrase. It refers to "those legitimate activities which ·are not provided for in that part of the school program which is usually designated as the curriculum." (1) The phrase is apparently new, yet the activities it refers to · are, in elementary form, as old as our educational system itself. · The Friday afternoon exercises, the spell-downs, and athletics under various forms, are of long standing in American schools. Previous to the last ten or fifteen years, however, such activities were carried on in an unsystematic way and consequently had no definite plan of …
