Exploring Physiotherapy Students' Experiential Learning With Physical Modalities And Their Relationship To Knowledge, Attitudes, And Practices: A Mixed Methods Investigation, Muhammed Rashid, Anoop Joy, Kavitha Raja, Jerin Mathew

Health Professions Education

Purpose: An experiential learning approach (ExL) is imperative in physiotherapy education as it facilitates the conscious recognition and transformation of experiences in clinical practice. Thus, ExL can help reduce fear avoidance and apprehension behaviour by allowing students to gain hands-on experience and confidence in delivering optimal patient care. The primary objective of this study was to explore physiotherapy students' thresholds and tolerance to noxious thermal and pressure stimuli and how these factors correlate with their self-reported Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) outcomes.

Methods: A mixed-method approach was employed, incorporating descriptive, qualitative, and exploratory research design methods to investigate the student’s …

“Are We Truly Disruptors?” A Thematic Analysis Of Two Canadian Teachers Disrupting The Status Quo In Their Classrooms, V Pereira Jan 2024

“Are We Truly Disruptors?” A Thematic Analysis Of Two Canadian Teachers Disrupting The Status Quo In Their Classrooms, V Pereira

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

This critical qualitative study looked to better understand the education system as an oppressive force, as well as highlight the strategies current Canadian teachers use to resist racism and colonialism in their classrooms. Using an inductive thematic analysis framework, my data sample consisted of 9 episodes from the podcast series The Chey and Pav Show: Teachers Talking Teaching featuring Toronto-based educators Chey Cheney and Pav (Pawan) Wander. The analysis identified two overarching themes pertaining to Pedagogy and Subject Content. The findings indicated that the educators have undergone a personal journey of social justice learning consisting of reflectivity and accountability, which …

Sixth Grade Music Ensemble Exploratories: Promoting Accessibility In Music Education, Michaela Marie Chybowski Jan 2024

Sixth Grade Music Ensemble Exploratories: Promoting Accessibility In Music Education, Michaela Marie Chybowski

Graduate Theses/Dissertations

School music ensemble participation has many benefits for students, including social well-being and improving academic performance; however, a variety of barriers, such as fear or lack of interest prevent many students from participating. To improve recruitment in music ensemble classes, Pittsburg Community Middle School created an exploratory class schedule that commenced with the 2022-2023 school year during which almost all sixth-grade students enrolled in three-week rotations of band, choir, and orchestra with the option to choose one option for the rest of the school year. This action research examined this new curriculum and the self-motivations of students who enrolled in …
