Exploring Practical Measures As An Approach For Measuring Elementary Students’ Attitudes Towards Computer Science, Umar Shehzad, Mimi M. Recker, Jody E. Clarke-Midura

This paper presents a novel approach for predicting the outcomes of elementary students’ participation in computer science (CS) instruction by using exit tickets, a type of practical measure, where students provide rapid feedback on their instructional experiences. Such feedback can help teachers to inform ongoing teaching and instructional practices. We fit a Structural Equation Model to examine whether students' perceptions of enjoyment, ease, and connections between mathematics and CS in an integrated lesson predicted their affective outcomes in self-efficacy, interest, and CS identity, collected in a pre- post- survey. We found that practical measures can validly measure student experiences.

A knowledge gap in emergency management was identified through transition to practice program (TTPP) data and discussions with new nurses and nurse leaders. In response an Emergency Management Virtual Simulation (EMVS) was implemented. This evidence based educational method is engaging and is shown to increase confidence and learning outcomes. Virtual simulation gives new graduate nurses an opportunity to collaborate, critically think in stressful situations, and “experience the real-life chaos” in a safe learning environment.

Relationship education has been implemented by a diverse population of facilitators with a plethora of intentions. Religious relationship education typically focuses on the sanctity of marriage as a divine institution. The study focused on theological perceptions of marriage as moderators of relationship education and relationship satisfaction. The present study investigated the results of guided notes on the students’ learning achievement, the quality of the students’ notes, and the students’ perceptions of note-taking. Abstract Pastors in the Assembly of God fellowship have several options regarding types of pastoral training. Conducting a multiple case study qualitative study, the researcher interviewed 12 pastors with 2-6 years of ministry experience who had primary training in a specific category: higher education, on-the-job training, hands-on internships, or credentialing programs. The researcher utilized a transformational leadership framework and asked questions related to idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. The findings suggest each training method (higher education, hands-on internship, on-the-job training, and credentialing programs) equipped pastors to demonstrate aspects of transformational leadership.

The sample was composed of 5,738 students who were enrolled in an intermediate algebra course between fall 2016 and fall 2019. Historically, the module was 30% continuous assessment and 70% invigilated examination. During COVID the module was changed to 100% continuous assessment to facilitate the implementation of Authentic Assessment. Over the course of the semester students compiled a portfolio of authentic assessment tasks worth 60% and a group project 40%. This assessment focuses on the development of a tool for generating student-centered datasets (using the MLDG - Machine Learning Dataset Generator) which are unique but fair to allow for both in-class and remote summative assessment for a final-year Machine Learning course, simultaneously. The results are encouraging and provide evidence that MLDG and the assessment approach used to promote a fair assessment with academic integrity for Machine Learning students.
