The “Titration Olympics” is the capstone experiment at the end of the Spring semester’s Advanced Chemistry Acid-Base-Buffer unit. In this lab exercise, students compete to determine the concentration of an unknown acid solution using a sodium hydroxide solution they prepare and standardize using KHP. The winner is determined using a rubric that accounts for (a) overall lab time, (b) preparation and general lab technique, (c) data table, (d) quality of the phenolphthalein endpoints, (e) accuracy of the unknown acid’s molarity, (f) use of significant figures, and (g) clean up skills. This quantitative causal-comparative study explores the relationship between teachers’ differentiation scores on the Classroom Practices Surveys for teachers with more than five years or fewer than five years teaching experience among elementary and secondary educators in Christian Schools. The importance of this study lies in understanding the differentiation practices Christian school teachers use in serving their students. This study involved 123 teachers that are employed by Christian schools in various regions in the United States. The Classroom Practices Survey was made available through Facebook and snowballing. This study was planned and performed with the main goal of examining preservice teachers’ (n=61) pedagogical reflections regarding the comparison of two educational music composition programs available for teaching mathematics. Empirical evidence that was collected and analyzed indicated that the two music composition programs each have distinctive strengths that may serve as appropriate teaching resources. The findings from the present study have shown that music composition and performance activities, if properly developed and supported by sound educational principles, learning theories, and educational technologies, can be used as classroom activities to support formal mathematics education while also providing out-of-school learning resources …

This study examines the effectiveness of using multimedia, specifically Remember the Titans, to teach Bruce Tuckman’s Group Development stages in undergraduate management education. The research investigates whether integrating film-based pedagogy enhances student comprehension and academic performance compared to traditional lecture methods. Using a quasi-experimental design, data were collected over six semesters from undergraduate business students (N = 459) at a private liberal arts university. The study compared pre- and post-implementation cohorts, employing a structured writing assignment as an assessment tool. A quantitative analysis, including independent samples t-tests, revealed a statistically significant improvement in student performance (p = 0.039) after implementing …

The University-Model® School (UMS) system is an education model that allows students to attend a combination of in-classroom learning with a supported home learning environment (Turner, 2017). The purpose of this phenomenological study is to explore the lived experiences of parents to understand their spiritual formation techniques for the development of students and the perceived impacts at University-Model® Schools. The use of simulation holds promise for the future of dietetics education for its use as an alternative for up to 30% of the 1,000 supervised practice hours for the training of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists. The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in knowledge of post-stroke aphasia among students who watched an informational video (Kennedy et al., 2012a) created for this study compared to students who read an informational text (National Aphasia Association, n.d.). Participants included 136 undergraduate and graduate students who completed a pre-test, watched an informational video or read an informational text, completed a post-test, and then completed a maintenance test approximately four weeks later. This article describes a collaborative project across multiple institutions to compare two versions of a regression activity: (a) a website version that collected student data through an online simulation with corresponding apps for visualization and (b) a traditional paper handout version that had a static dataset. This allowed us to evaluate the differences in student learning and attitudes when students have a stronger connection with the data through an interactive—and hopefully fun—data-collection process than they do when they are given a worksheet with a pre-collected dataset. This study delves into the realm of student conceptual change, examining shifting understandings as important steppingstones on the path to sensemaking and canonical understanding in science education. It explores the potential of a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum, aiming to provide equitable learning opportunities, especially for emerging bilingual (EB) student populations.
