Assessing The Performance Of Microfinance Institutions In Sub-Saharan Africa: The Effect Of Profitability On The Depth And Breadth Of Outreach, Mary Catherine Hoyt

This study is the first to use empirical analysis to address the tradeoff between financial and social performance of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Sub-Saharan Africa. Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regressions are used to compare the depth and breadth of outreach of MFIs. Results indicate that for-profit MFIs in Sub-Saharan Africa have less depth of outreach, indicated by larger loan sizes, and significantly more breadth of outreach than non-profits. Results support the conclusion that for-profit MFIs grant more loans overall, but these loans do not necessarily reach the poorest clients; they simply address different target markets in doing so,

Volunteers perform most of the work in a church. Therefore, a pastor interacts with volunteers constantly and must relate to them in a positive manner in order to encourage their continued support. Discerning the knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics (KSAOs) a pastor needs to work with volunteers effectively was the central issue addressed. Creative Activity and Research Day - CARD

This research report aims to discover the most effective marketing platform to attract and retain sponsors for the University of San Francisco athletic department. Responses were measured from sponsors of the athletic department through conducting interviews. Specifically, 24 sponsors were interviewed via phone, e-mail, and in-person. Our results suggest that respondents want to see marketing platforms such as digital signage and direct marketing, rather than options such as radio. This study will assist the athletic department at the University of San Francisco to hopefully allow for more return on investment and improved sponsorship.

Different prediction methods give different performance predictions when used for daily fresh food sales forecasting. Logistic Regression (LR) is a good choice for binary data, the Moving Average (MA) method is good for simple prediction, while the Back-Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) method is good for long term data. In this study we develop and compare the performance of three sales forecasting models, based on the above three prediction methods, for the forecasting of fresh food sales in a point of sales (POS) database for convenience stores. This paper aims to investigate the role and influence of the transportation sector on the national economy of Taiwan by using input-output analysis. Data from the period 1991-2006 is used to analyze the inter-industrial linkage effects in 33 sectors. The results show that the transportation industry in Taiwan has more strength in absorbing the products of related industries rather than being used as an input by other industries; it has a relatively strong capacity for pulling in other industries. To develop efficient pricing and service strategies for air cargo carriers, we formulated air cargo demand as a Multinomial Logit model to reveal forwarders’ preferences toward freightage, flight frequency and service reliability. By applying non-cooperative game approach, we solve the market equilibrium to produce optimal freightage of priority and ordinary cargo for forwarders with various shipping volumes as well as the optimal flight schedules of air cargo carriers. It traces the birth of the internet, expansion of e-commerce, and the resulting evolution of ODR systems in the past two decades.
