LaSalle found that while automation is increasing at an even accelerating pace, little emphasis is apparent in high school curriculums on the significance of automated processes for prospective office workers. He further stated that business education departments should study local situations and prepare students to qualify for available data processing employment.

The need for data processing training in the Ogden area is evident in the frequent requests by local employers for people trained in data processing.

This study was undertaken to determine the number, type, and requirements of entry-level office positions in Ogden, Utah, banks.

Questionnaires were taken to the participating banks in the Ogden, Utah, banking community. The responding banks indicated that they would consider recent high school graduates to all of the positions studied; however, a majority of the banks preferred to hire females rather than males to to the office positions studied.

All of the responding banks required some type of requirement for each of the office entry-level positions, and majority of the banks required a pre-employment test of the applicants. This information …

The purpose of the study was to determine the present status and the potential for future organization of business youth organizations in Utah high schools.

Questionnaires were mailed to Utah high school business teachers and to Utah high school principals.

Sixty-six per cent of the responding teachers bad never served as a business youth club sponsor; and 69 per cent of the teachers had never belonged to a business youth organization in high school or in college.

Fifty-one per cent of the teachers expressed an interest in attending a regional meeting to discuss the organization of additional business youth organizations. …

This work, however, has been limited almost entirely to the hedging of grain. The first attempt to conduct futures trading in a live commodity began on November 30, 1964, with the advent of futures trading in live beef cattle. This paper examines entrance barriers to the ready-to-eat breakfast cereal industry in the United States. Research studies and primary data are examined for the purpose of demonstrating the existing product-market synergy differential between industry participants and potential entrants to this market. This synergy differential is then examined in relation to the perceived risk associated with a breakfast cereal product investment, when viewed by a potential entrant vis-a-vis an industry participant. Explanatory models are formulated and developed which describe the relationship between the rate of return on investment and the risk/uncertainty inherent in the cereal industry.

This paper proposes a method of examining the assump­tion that there are homogeneous risk classes of firms which will have the same required rate of return on the common stock, the risk classes being defined as those firms whose expected average income is subject to the same degree of uncertainty. In long mission programs such as this one, reliability is the prime consideration in assuring a successful accomplishment of the stringent goals set forth. Salary differentials by rank were studied at the University of Utah and Utah State University on a departmental basis.

Multiple regression equations were developed from criteria at Utah State University which were used to predict individual salaries for professional staff members at the University of Utah. Thirteen of the fourteen multiple regression equations developed showed statistical significance at the .05 level and twelve departments were significant at the .01 level.

Salary comparisons by rank were considerably reduced as a result of the department by department analysis.

Small high schools generally do not offer the same opportunities for learning as larger high schools due to the lack of funds, a smaller student body, and a shortage of trained personnel. The prime interest of this study was to measure and analyze the authority/responsibility conceptions the program managers had of themselves as compared to that held by the line or functional personnel with whom the program managers were in day-to-day contact. A questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was distributed to 20 program managers and 73 line personnel. Of these 93 distributed questionnaires, 92 were returned and analyzed. The questionnaire asked to what degree, in the opinion of the respondent, did the program manager have the authority to perform 22 different functions. The general attitude of the faculty and staff was assessed through the questionnaires distributed to all fulltime employees of Utah State University. Their feelings regarding supervision, work recognition, communication, physical facilities, job satisfaction and their attitude toward the administration were reflected by their response.

The over-all campus attitude seems to be good. The areas of supervision and work recognition received the most favorable replies. Downward communications, or communications from the administration to the employee. received more negative response than reactions to upward channels of communication.
