Training-Informed Air Traffic Control Workforce Scheduling, Eli Winett
Training-Informed Air Traffic Control Workforce Scheduling, Eli Winett
Theses and Dissertations
The Radar Control Facility (RCF) at Eglin Air Force Base creates monthly workforce schedules. Adherence to regulations must be verified manually and no evaluation criteria exist to compare schedules. A mixed-integer program model for air traffic controllers allocates workers across 19 positions for a user-defined number of weeks of 24-hour operations. Across eight consecutive months, this model produced schedules to nearly eliminate all shifts with critical shortages from the reference schedules. Without civilian overtime work, gains in positional coverage require a 35% increase in overtime work for military workers and 35% reduction in monthly training instances. We recommend users adopt …

Employee Development And Employee Resilience In The Post-Covid-19 Workplace: A Quantitative Study Of High School Educators, Amy Keiser Maffei
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The problem addressed by this research is the need for protective factors to support teacher resilience. Organizations that fail to develop employee resilience risk failing to enjoy the positive outcomes associated with it. Research-based methods to improve resilience may benefit organizations, including school districts. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between employee development provided by a school district and the resilience of its high school teachers in the post-Covid-19, in-person workplace. Conservation of Resources theory served as the framework to guide the research. Study participants completed a questionnaire with Likert-style response options, with items to assess …

Redefining Research Impact: Developing And Evaluating Modified H-Indexes For Comprehensive Academic Assessment, Nash Mayhue Minton
Theses and Dissertations
In academic research, the h-index has gained prominence as a useful metric for gauging the impact and productivity of researchers. This thesis seeks to provide a general overview of the h-index by providing information on the positive applications that the h-index utilizes, as well as the faults and limitations that diminish its utility. This thesis aims to combat the bias of hyper-authorship, which inherently inflates researchers' h-indexes by disproportionately attributing credit to individuals in multi-author publications, as well as provide other indices that could prove to be a possible replacement index or to be used as a basis for creating …

Relationship-Influenced Cyber Hygiene (Rich) In Community Banks, Monte L. Ward
Relationship-Influenced Cyber Hygiene (Rich) In Community Banks, Monte L. Ward
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation is a research study that introduces the theoretical model of Relationship-Influenced Cyber Hygiene (RICH) through its investigation of the phenomenon the researcher experienced: how the interpersonal relationship between top management and cybersecurity personnel within smaller community banks influences the cyber hygiene of top management. Due to the value proposition of community banks to their clients and the limited budget of smaller institutions for investment in cybersecurity controls and initiates, community banks need additional strategies to achieve stronger cyber hygiene, especially as it relates the greatest weakness in most cybersecurity infrastructures—the human element. This study identifies and addresses a …

Attachment Styles As Moderators Of Loneliness In Remote Work, Brody Tj Loughlin
Attachment Styles As Moderators Of Loneliness In Remote Work, Brody Tj Loughlin
Doctoral Dissertations
This dissertation investigates the role of attachment styles in moderating the relationship between remote work and loneliness. Drawing on attachment theory, which posits that early life experiences shape attachment styles and influence social interactions, the study examines whether attachment styles (anxious, avoidant, and secure) moderate the association between remote work and feelings of loneliness. The research targets 394 remote workers, using a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design with proportional stratified sampling to reflect the distribution of hybrid and fully remote work arrangements in the U.S. workforce. The Extent of RemoteWork measure, the Three-Item Loneliness Scale, and the Adult Attachment Scale assess …

Links, Fit, And Sacrifice: How Job Embeddedness Impacts Work Modality And Intention To Stay In Public Accounting, Maryalice C. Trussell
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Historically, the public accounting profession has applied an in-person apprenticeship model to assimilate new professionals into the culture of the firm and client service profession. The COVID-19 pandemic quickly challenged this in-person apprenticeship model in early 2020 by forcing most professionals to work remotely. Initial post-pandemic research with public accountants highlighted issues related to remote work, including a lack of social bonds with coworkers, reduced organizational socialization as well as less commitment to the firm and profession. Notwithstanding the new obstacles with COVID-induced remote work, turnover and talent shortages have been persistent challenges in public accounting.

Residential Solar Power: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Of The Consumer Decision Process Regarding Solar Adoption In The Low-Energy-Cost / Low-Solar-Exposure Pacific Northwest, Steven W. Schmidt
Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
The energy-supply industry is faced with aggregate global energy demand growth associated with the simultaneous impact of worldwide increasing population and decreasing poverty (with its associated increased access to energy choices), thus, increasing both total and per capita world-wide energy usage. Concomitant with energy demand growth, though, there are widening and deepening concerns among many regarding the impact of energy-related pollution, which is accompanied by an associated, growing interest in clean, renewable sources of energy. In this milieu, solar energy has provided a rapidly growing supply of power solutions (though still a small overall proportion).

An Examination Of Duplicates In The Fast Fashion Industry: Synthesizing Definitions And Comparing Original Designs To Duplicate Examples, Raquel Maranhao Braulino
An Examination Of Duplicates In The Fast Fashion Industry: Synthesizing Definitions And Comparing Original Designs To Duplicate Examples, Raquel Maranhao Braulino
University Honors Program Senior Projects
The business of fast fashion has expanded tremendously since the nineties (Ozdamar-Ertekin, 2016). This expansion is caused by the market’s demand for low-cost trendy items (Jin et al., 2012), the overproduction of merchandising (Joy et al., 2012), online shopping (Rosskamp, 2018), technology-facilitated designs (Peroni, & Vitali, 2017), and faster delivery processes (Moon et al., 2017). The effects caused by the expansion of the fast fashion industry can be detrimental to consumers' self-concept (Legere, & Kang, 2020), result in the amplification of mass production (Moretta et al., 2013) and can have negative consequences to the environment (Peters et al., 2021). In …

Does The Monitoring Effectiveness Improve After Busy Independent Directors Become Less Busy? — A Quasi-Experiment From China, Hui Gao
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
The importance of independent directors is well-recognized both in academic literature and among regulators. This dissertation leverages the introduction of the Management Measures for Independent Directors of Listed Companies (hereafter the Measures) in China, which reduces the maximum allowable concurrent directorships from five to three, to investigate whether fewer directorships allow independent directors to devote more time and attention to enhancing their monitoring effectiveness.
Prior literature offers mixed findings on the impact of busy independent directors on corporate governance and firm value, with no clear consensus on whether multiple directorships affect their oversight capabilities. Analyzing data on independent directors’ votes …
