Determinants Of Nba Average Annual Attendance By Team, Kevin Joseph Mcgee Mar 2016

Determinants Of Nba Average Annual Attendance By Team, Kevin Joseph Mcgee

Research in the Capitol

My project explores which characteristics of NBA teams are significant determinants of average attendance for the 1990-91 to 2014-15 seasons. By determining which variables are significant and the direction and magnitude of their impact on a team’s annual attendance, the results may be used to predict future NBA attendance figures, analyze how different teams can improve attendance and revenues, and determine whether other cities, such as Des Moines, are strong candidates for attracting new NBA teams. In the exploration of which characteristics are most important to determining NBA attendance, data has been collected and sorted by each team by year. …

Chinese Strategic Asset Seeking Activity In The United States, Justin Niday

Research in the Capitol

With the continual economic growth of China, the importance of Chinese foreign direct investment and where this investment is directed grows as well. There has been research within the last decade looking into the significance of strategic-asset-seeking (SAS) when determining the factors of Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI). SAS is classified as foreign direct investment that targets technology, patents, stocks, and human capital. Numerous studies have found differing results when measuring the significance of SAS in determining FDI. This literature review compares completed research in order to find how the measurement of SAS affects location models. For this review data …

Women's Summit Presented by Bryant University

Welcome! Kristin Chenoweth’s song “I was here” speaks volumes when it comes to our theme for the 2016 Women’s Summit – Make Your Mark! The words struck a chord with me, especially, “You will notice me. I’ll be leaving my mark like initials carved in an old oak tree. Just wait and see. I want to do something that matters, say something different, something that sets the whole world on its ear.”

Last year, our opening keynote speaker, Sallie Krawcheck, told us that women want to engage in work that allows them to find meaning and purpose in their professional …

By collaborating with Purdue researchers throughout a range of …

The Economic Impact Of The 2015 Big Nac Music Festival, Brandon Wade Chaddick Jan 2016

The Economic Impact Of The 2015 Big Nac Music Festival, Brandon Wade Chaddick

School of Human Sciences Research Showcase

Infrastructure is what drives small towns in the United States. Defined as “the basic, underlying framework of a system or organization” (The Free Dictionary, 2015), the infrastructure of a small town encapsulates the various roads, businesses, schools, and factories involved with providing the town with economic stability. Unfortunately, in the years following the United States’ economic downturn, this stability has been severely altered. Thus, in an effort to maintain their economies, many small towns are learning to adapt and innovate to protect and nurture their resources. Such innovations include fairs, meetings, conventions, and, the focus of this study, events.

Safe Operations Above FL600

Abstract

With the increase in likelihood of near-term development of revenue-generating point-to-point suborbital flights and the increase in high-altitude-long-endurance commercial operations above FL600, the criticality of addressing operations above class A airspace has never been more pressing. While the Federal Aviation Administration describes the National Airspace System, it doesn’t offer a description that includes a top. Technological, physiological, physical and administrative limitations have relegated most air operations to FL600 and below. As that changes, previous work on Space Traffic Management (STM) concepts begin to take on new life and add to sincere considerations for adaptation or …

Money Laundering Effects, Mario Gjoni, Albana (Karameta) Gjoni, Holta (Bako) Kora

UBT International Conference

The globalization of economic activities and financial markets has had a very positive impact on the world economy. But this effect has also its costs. It can facilitate the ways by which money can be laundered internationally which is one of the biggest costs that this phenomenon creates. Among many analysts there is a discussion about the relationship that exists between globalization and money laundering, as well as economic implications of large-scale money laundering. Money laundering threatens the economic and financial systems in many countries, and has important effects on income distribution and macroeconomic variables. The negative effects of money …

Statistical Issues In Predictive Modelling Using Bootstrap Method, Elmira Kushta, Miranda Pajo, Orgeta Gjermeni Nov 2015

Statistical Issues In Predictive Modelling Using Bootstrap Method, Elmira Kushta, Miranda Pajo, Orgeta Gjermeni

UBT International Conference

A model is a statement of reality or its approximation. Most phenomena in the social sciences are extremely complex. With a model we simplify the reality and focus on a manageable number of factors. It is impossible to completely understand why consumers default and identify all the factors influencing customer’s default behavior. The bank manager sets up a statistical model that relates customer’s default behavior to only two important factors, the income and the education. There surely are thousands of other variables that may influence customer’s default behavior. This article describes the fundamentals of a statistical model building. We begin …
