This dissertation presents a compositional analysis of the architecture and a distributional analysis of the associated artifacts resulting from excavation of some ninety buildings dating from the Late to Terminal Classic Period at the Maya site of Copan, Honduras. The study of all artifacts recovered from primary contexts, both in situ and redeposited, focuses first on a determination of their function, second on an analysis of their distribution within the site, and third on their associations with one another in order to identify the kinds of activities carried out at various locations. Leonard Peltier is an Ojibway-Lakota and activist for AIM who was indicted for allegedly murdering two FBI agents in a shootout on the Pine Ridge, South Dakota, Lakota reservation in 1975. Years after his trial, the Committee obtained some 12,000 pages of documents that show perjured testimonies, conflicting statements, and violations of due process. This project concerned the availability of resource material to teachers of units on Northwest Indians. The project evolved as a result of the strong belief of the researcher that a distinction should be made between the tribes of the southern Puget Sound area, and their neighbors to the north. A resource guide to the art of the Puyallup/Nisqually Indians was developed and used in the classroom of the researcher. Recommendations and suggestions for use were included in the resource guide.
