ملخص:

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تعرف بدايات نشأة تعليم العربية للناطقين بغيرها في سلطنة عمان، وواقعه، ومظاهر تطوره. ولتتبع البدايات اعتمدت الدراسة على المنهج التاريخي. واعتمدت على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لرصد الواقع بنهاية 2015م، وأعدت استمارتي مقابلة لجمع المعلومات، الأولى للمعلمين، والثانية للمؤسسات، وبلغت العينة 23 معلما، و11 مؤسسة، ولرصد مظاهر التطور أجريت مقارنة بين البدايات والواقع الحالي.

وأظهرت النتائج أن مؤسسة وورلد ليرنينج (World Learning) هي أول مؤسسة تستقدم طلابا أجانب لدراسة العربية في سلطنة عمان في صيف 2008م، و2009م، و2010م، نفذتها في جامعة ظفار، ونفذت البرنامج في 2010م أيضا في جامعة نزوى، واستمر في السنوات التالية تقديم برامج …

الملخص:

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى الوقوف على اتجاهات أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية بالجامعات الفلسطينية نحو تعريب التعليم، وإلى تحديد العلاقة بين بعض المتغيرات، كالكلية والدراسة في الجامعات الأجنية، وبين الاتجاهات نحو التعريب. تكونت عينة الدراسة من (65) أستاذاً من كليتي (الطب والعلوم) في جامعة الأزهر والجامعة الإسلامية في فلسطين.

اعتمدت الدراسة استبانة لقياس اتجاهات الأساتذة، حيث قام الباحث بتصميمها، وقد اشتملت على (35) فقرة موزعة على أربعة محاور، ولمعالجة البيانات إحصائياً استخدم الباحث الحزمة الإحصائية(spss) كما انتهجت الدراسة المنهجين؛ الوصفي التحليلي، والتحليلي الأنثروبولوجي.

While the eastern Arab modal system of maqāmāt has been amply explored by a variety of scholars and practitioners, the systems of melodic modes which underlie North African- Andalusian music traditions colloquially called the ṭubū‘ (s. ṭab‘) are relatively unknown outside their native regions (even within the Arabic-speaking world), and their features have not yet been explored in Western ethnomusicological literature. Often the story of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is portrayed as Jewish vs. Muslim, Hebrew vs. Arab. There is little room in the international dialogue for minorities such as Arab Christians. Though Palestinians have a rich culture of Arabic musical and poetic heritage, they are unable to produce their own new songs. In this study I interviewed three members of Immanuel Evangelical Church on their experiences and opinions on local Christian worship. This immigration created a new generation of Arab heritage learners who want to learn the Arabic language as a heritage language for different reasons. This study investigates the motivation and attitude of Arab heritage children between 10 and 16 years of age and their parents’ perspectives toward learning Arabic as a heritage language in host countries. 143 participants (92 parents, 51 children) living in 17 different non-Arab countries have participated in this study. The Israeli occupation of Palestine and its impact on the proliferation and longevity of transnational Salafi jihad is largely underestimated in current literature. In this thesis, I argue that Palestine, defined as both the nation and physical borders before the Balfour Declaration, largely contributed to the twentieth century revival of transnational Salafi jihad and is used by both Al Qaeda and ISIS as liberation and annihilation movements, respectively. As the Jordanian culture is gradually impacted by the globalization process of late capitalism, this study argues that many Jordanian novels exhibit a number of postmodern characteristics, such as blurring boundaries and disrupting hierarchies, the use of pastiche as a compositional technique, formal fragmentation, and the weakness of utopian imagination. The goal of this thesis is to show that violence in Iraq is not only caused by sectarian differences, but has been used and influenced by leaders, outside governments, and non-state institutions for personal gain and political goals at the cost of the Iraqi people.

This article contrasts the ways in which major Arab authors of the early or pre- Nahda (Ar. "awakening," "renaissance") period (ca. 1850-1950) responded to the French during and after the Napoleonic occupation of Egypt (1798-1801), specifically through Abd al-Rahman al-Jabarti’s contemporary chronicles of the invasion and Rifa'a al-Tahtawi's account of his five-year stay in Paris (1826-31). In so doing, it explores how or whether these reflections on the European other inflected the later development of modern Arabic narrative and concepts of Egyptian identity.

In this study, academic freedom was defined by 17 foreign-born professors:12 Arab-born and five non-Arab professors from nine different higher education institutions, as the ability to express different ideas, research any topic, and publish the results without fear of intimidation. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to examine how foreign-born professors experienced academic freedom when teaching and writing about Middle East issues and how their views about the U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East influenced their experiences on the grounds of their foreignness (place of origin, race/ethnicity, and religion). A Papyrus Fragment Related To Ibn ʿAbd Rabbih’S Al-ʿIqd Al-Farīd*, Mark Muehlhaeusler

This article presents an edition and a translation of a papyrus fragment from the Beinecke Library at Yale (P.CtYBR inv. 2598), together with a brief commentary. This literary fragment, containing two verses of poetry, is interesting because it provides an oriental source for a text until then known only through the famous Andalusian work of Ibn ʿAbd Rabbih, al-ʿIqd al-farīd; it also serves as an example of an informal mode of written transmission of Arabic poetry.
