ISIS, a Salafi-jihadist terrorist organization stationed in the Middle East, has had its fair share of "successes" and "failures," both of which have been present in Iraq. Toward the beginning of the development of ISIS, it garnered a very powerful supporter base in Iraq. However, that has changed since then; ISIS currently, in 2024, no longer has the support of the vast majority of the Iraqi people. What is the reason for this? The paper aimed to examine "Frankenstein in Baghdad" by the Iraqi novelist Ahmed Saadawi. The text highlighted the impact of the neo-colonial era represented by the United States' invasion of Iraq in 2003, which launched a new stage of colonialism in the twenty-first century. The novel was able to realistically reflect that historical period in terms of the post colonialism context through an imagined text. This novel reflected some features of the post colonialism novels, especially the textual depths, representations, phrasing and effect and the possibility of achieving all these features. More Than Sectarianism: How Have State And Non-State Institutions Used Violence To Form The Current Iraqi State And What Is The Effect?, Caitlyn Perkins

This thesis examines the role of violence in Iraq in establishing the current Iraqi state. My chapters provide historical and theoretical context to the subject before getting into the analysis. The goal of this thesis is to show that violence in Iraq is not only caused by sectarian differences, but has been used and influenced by leaders, outside governments, and non-state institutions for personal gain and political goals at the cost of the Iraqi people.
