Histories of Arabic and Islamic philosophy tend to focus on texts which are systematic in nature and conventionally classified as philosophy or related scholarly disciplines. Philosophical principles, however, are also defining features of texts associated with other genres. Within the larger field of philosophy, this might be especially true of ethics and within the larger body of literature this might be especially the case for stories. Indeed, it is sometimes argued that the very purpose of storytelling is to reinforce and disseminate moral conventions. Likewise, the moral philosopher can be conceptualized as a homo narrans.

يهدف هذا البحث إلى الوقوف مع علم من أعلام الدرس اللغوي الذي كان له دور في الحياة العلمية في بلاد الأندلس في القرن الخامس الهجري الذي عاش فيه ابن سيده المتوفي سنة 458هـ، فقد أبرزت مكانته العلمية بين علماء العربية في زمانه.

يتناول هذا البحث التوجيه النحوي للقراءات القرآنية عند ابن الوردي (ت749هـ)، إذ بدأتُ البحث بترجمة موجزة لابن الوردي، ثم تحدثتُ عن القراءات القرآنية وأنواعها، ثم ذكرتُ التوجيهات النحوية لابن الوردي في المسائل التي تضمنت القراءات القرآنِيَّة في شرحه للألفية الموسوم بـ "تحرير الخصاصة في تيسير الخلاصة"، مع بيانِ آراءِ النحاة ومواقفهم من توجيهاته النحوية.

Narrations by notable Islamic personalities are a significant part of the Islamic religious edifice. However, these narrations are of variable quality and authenticity. To evaluate these narrations, standards and tools were developed and used. This thesis analyzes Abu Jaâ far Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabariâ s chronicle (d. 923) History of Prophets and Kings using a gender perspective. It focuses on al-Tabariâ s representation of women during the Madina period, arguing that through such a representation al-Tabari projects his Abbasid gender norms on the women of this period. The thesis focuses on four main subjects in relation to al-Tabariâ s text: the image of rebellious non-Muslim women, â Aâ ishaâ s involvement in the Battle of the Camel, and women as rational and emotional players in the Madina period.
