Rising Through The Ranks: Women In War, Rosemary L. Meszaros

This book will examine the evolving role of American women in the military, contrasting the Vietnam experiences with those of the Persian Gulf War, and including the Panama, Libya, and Grenada military actions. Beginning with the historical tradition of women in the United States military, the study will focus on changes in American society brought about by the Women's Rights Movement and America's involvement in Vietnam and how both affected women in the military. From Demigods To Slayers: Contemporary Mythology And Gender Economies In Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Adam Kem Yerima

In the critically acclaimed television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, writer-director Joss Whedon revises the trope of monster slaying into a contemporary feminist Slayer mythology. This thesis explores how Buffy's Slayer mythology revises gender conventions performed by Greek Demigods myths, specifically Apollodorus' rendition of the myths in the Library of Greek Mythology.

Father Charles E. Coughlin was one of the most prominent, and most controversial, figures in the United States in the 1930s and in the early years of the 1940s. This Canadian-born cleric rose from the life of an ordinary parish priest to becoming one of the leading radio phenomena of his day, masterfully using the new medium to command a vast audience. Coughlin began his radio career addressing religious subjects, but he expanded into the realm of politics by the early 1930s. His views became more and more extreme, and, by the latter part of the decade, he became increasingly …

Digging Paradise: Historical And Archeological Miscellany Of The U.S. Virgin Islands, Kenneth Baumgardt
The Bridge
During the 1980's and 1990's, the firm of MAAR Associates of Newark, Delaware, conducted more than thirty archeological investigations of the prehistoric sites and Danish Plantations of the U. S. Virgin Islands. These studies were conducted to fulfill the requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act prior to proposed hotel construction there. However, after the islands were devastated by Hurricane Hugo in 1987, many of these projects were never built. Nonetheless, a great volume of information about the history and prehistory of the Virgin Islands was collected. This study will provide a compilation of some of the discoveries made during …
