Anion exchange membrane fuel cells,which use anion exchange membranes as polyelectrolytes,have attracted more and more research interests recently.In this work,a series of hydroxyl-conducting anion-exchange membranes based on the copolymer of 2-(Diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate and fluoro-polyacrylate were prepared by radical polymerization,and their potential applications in alkaline fuel cells were assessed.It was shown that the ionic conductivity of the membranes reached 10-2 S·cm-1 at room temperature,while the methanol permeability was lower than 10-7 cm2·s-1.The maximum power density of fuel cell assembled with this membrane was achieved to be 43.2 mW·cm-2 at room temperature,indicating possible application …

Multilayer films of polypyrrole-platinum electrode were fabricated by cyclic voltammetric technique.Electro-oxidation of methanol on this electrode was investigated with the aid of cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry.Results demonstrated that the multilayer of polypyrrole-platinum electrode behaved better electrocatalytic performance for electro-oxidaton of methanol and better poison resistant.Furthermore,with the increase of deposited platinum loadings,the rate controlling step on electro-oxidation reaction of methanol was changed from CO oxidation to sorption-desorption of hydrogen.

The polyaniline(PANi) for supercapacitor was prepared by chemical-oxidative polymerization.The SEM,FTIR data and electrochemical performance showed that,polyaniline nanoparticles were formed which were about 50 nm;the specific capacitances of PANi were 404 F/g,208 F/g and 279 F/g in 1 mol/L H2SO4,NaNO3 and KOH,respectively,when the current density was 5 mA/cm2.The concentrations of H2SO4 increased to 2 mol/L or 6 mol/L,the capacitances decreased to 330 F/g or 248 F/g.

Pine needle ZnO crystal whiskers were electrodeposited by anodization of zinc foil.The crystal whiskers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) spectroscopy.The results show that the lengths and diameters of ZnO crystal whiskers are 200~300 nm and 20~50 nm,respectively,with the ratio of the length to diameter ranging from 10~15.The whiskers belong to wurtzite ZnO(JCPDS 36-1451) with good crystallinity and high purity.The crystalization behavior of ZnO was studied by cyclic voltammetry.The effects of the surface oxide layer at the zinc substrates and the [Zn(OH)4]2-concentration of the aqueous electrolyte on the formation of zinc oxide whiskers …

The asymptotic stability of solutions of the Mindlin-type microstructure model for solids is analyzed in the paper. It is shown that short waves are asymptotically stable even in the case of a weakly non-convex free energy dependence on microdeformation.

Graphene is one of the most important materials. In this research, the structures and properties of graphene nano disks (GND) with a concentric shape were investigated by Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, in which the most effective DFT methods - B3lyp and Pw91pw91 were employed.
It was found that there are two types of edges - Zigzag and Armchair in concentric graphene nano disks (GND). The bond length between armchair-edge carbons is much shorter than that between zigzag-edge carbons. For C24 GND that consists of 24 carbon atoms, only armchair edge with 12 atoms is formed. In this research, a modification to initiation aid ignition in bomb calorimetry that involves systemically blending levels of boron and potassium nitrate initiation aids with a bulk structural energetic elemental power blend is developed. A regression is used to estimate the nominal heat of reaction for the primary reaction. The technique is first applied to the synthesis of TiB2 as a validation study to see if close proximity to literature values can be achieved. As the interest in fluid evaporation kinetics keeps increasing, it's inevitably noticed that fullerene nanospheres play an important role on it. In this study, we investigate the C60 nanospheres' effect on the evaporation kinetics and thermal transitions of different solvents (water, chlorobenzene) over the entire range of solubility. According to distinct polarity of different solvent, fullerene solution would behave differently, the trend of increasing in evaporation rate as the concentration increased was observed in aromatic solvents while the rate kept decreasing in water. We report efficient laminated organic photovoltaic device with efficiency approach the optimized device by regular method based on Poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). The high efficiency is mainly attributed to the formation of a concrete polymer/metal interface mechanically and electrically by the use of electronic-glue, and using the highly conductive and flexible silver film as anode to reduce photovoltage loss and modifying its work function for efficiency hole extraction by ultraviolet/ozone treatment, and the pressure induced crystallization of PCBM.

Solvent evaporation plays a critical role in nanofiber formation in electrospinning. Here, we present a nonlinear mass diffusion-transfer model describing the drying process in dilute polymer solution jets. The model is used to predict transient solvent concentration profiles in polyacrylonitrile/ N,N-dimethylformamide (PAN/DMF) jets with the initial radii ranging from 50µm down to 100 nm. Numerical simulations demonstrate high transient inhomogeneity of solvent concentration over the jet cross-section in microscopic jets. The degree of inhomogeneity decreases for finer, submicron jets. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of using miniaturized asymmetric structures to move liquid droplets and understand the driving mechanism. We developed the fabrication process for large area topological ratchets with the period ranging from millimeter down to sub-micrometer using micromachining techniques. Non-wetting superhydrophobic surfaces were successfully fabricated using soft UV or thermal nanoimprint lithography, reactive ion etching by oxygen plasma, and chemical surface modification by fluorinated silane vapor deposition.
