Intelligent Vehicle Path Tracking Control Integrating Road Adhesion Constraints, Zhang Zhiguo, Wang Pu, Zhang Xinglong, Wang Yan

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

In the field of fault-tolerant control for intelligent vehicle path tracking, the existing methods based on model predictive control (MPC ) have limitations. They often assume that the vehicle model parameters are fixed and ignore the impact of dynamic changes in model parameters, which are caused by factors such as vehicle load changes and external environmental interference,on the path tracking accuracy. When the steering system fails, the front wheel steering angle commands calculated by MPC cannot be directly executed and need to be converted into yaw moment control.Although the existing sliding mode yaw moment control methods have strong robustness, the chattering problem affects the stability and …

Research On Parametric Method Of Highway Bim Based On Digital Delivery, Li Jinlong, Wang Xinnan

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

By analyzing the application points and the current situation of digital delivery in each stage of highway engineering construction, this study found that the lack of parameter management and definition in the modification and refinement process of building information modeling (BIM ) source files at each stage led to difficulties in the splitting and refinement of BIM at each stage and even the need for reconstruction. To this end,a method for strengthening the overall planning of the whole life cycle was proposed.By clarifying the demand for model parameters according to the application points of each stage,a mechanism for parameter reservation and classification …

Design Of Champlain Bridge In Canada, Xie Yaning, Zhou Yanfeng, Marwan Nader

Journal of China & Foreign Highway

The Champlain Bridge,an iconic gateway spanning the St.Lawrence River in Montreal, showcases not only the excellence of engineering but also becomes an integral part of the city ’s landscape. With a main span of 240 m,the bridge employs a unique single-pylon harp-shaped double-plane cable-stayed structure. The upper pylon is inspired by a tuning fork in its lateral design, while the upper crossbeam artfully mimics the shape of a bow tie, endowing the bridge with a visual beauty that harmoniously blends elegance and strength. The bridge deck, with a total width of 60 m,was the widest double-plane cable-stayed bridge in the world when it was completed. The typical spans …

The final project design minimizes disruption to existing activity …

A Parametric Study Of Compact Wind Borne Debris In Tornadoes, Akash Yadav 2025 Clemson University

A Parametric Study Of Compact Wind Borne Debris In Tornadoes, Akash Yadav

All Theses

Debris lofted and transported by tornadoes is a significant source of damage during these storms. Several approaches have been taken to model such debris flight, ranging in complexity from fine-scale CFD simulations to coupling the compact debris flight equations with simplified analytic models for the tornado vortex. Both approaches have their merits, though the latter comes with significantly lower computational costs. Despite the simplifications, this second approach has successfully captured details of debris flight events established in post-tornado forensic surveys. Herein, we take advantage of the low computational cost of the latter approach to undertake a detailed parametric study of …

Comparison And Evaluation Of Overlay And Leveling Binder In Traffic Circle Construction, Pratik Neupane 2025 University of South Alabama

Comparison And Evaluation Of Overlay And Leveling Binder In Traffic Circle Construction, Pratik Neupane

Graduate Theses and Dissertations (2019 - present)

Traffic circles play a vital role in managing traffic flow and ensuring safety, yet their unique traffic conditions make them prone to early cracking and deformation. This study evaluated the performance of overlay and leveling binder asphalt mixtures for a reconstructed traffic circle at the University of South Alabama, using plant-mixed laboratory-compacted (PMLC) specimens. Volumetric analyses were performed to determine maximum specific gravity (Gmm), bulk specific gravity (Gmb), and air voids content. Laboratory tests were conducted on both the overlay and leveling binder layers using indirect tensile cracking test (IDEAL-CT) and indirect tensile rutting test (IDEAL-RT) to assess cracking tolerance …

Bayesian Network-Based Framework To Uncover Social Inequities In Flood Risk: Application To East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, Fuad Hasan 2025 Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College

Bayesian Network-Based Framework To Uncover Social Inequities In Flood Risk: Application To East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, Fuad Hasan

LSU Master's Theses

Regional flood risk assessment requires understanding the complex interplay of sociodemographic, socioeconomic, hydrogeologic, built environment, and climatic variables that impact flood vulnerability. Traditional studies often focus on large-scale units, overlooking localized variations and disproportionate exposure within populations. To address these gaps, a methodological framework of flood risk assessment using the Bayesian network was proposed and applied to East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, for the August 2016 flood event to identify relationships between flood risk variables at the housing unit level. Flood exposure representativeness (FER) was determined using the Bayesian network's inference capabilities to identify over- or under-represented groups. This study …

Modelled Flooding Impacts On Lower Fish River Watershed, Sebastian Loschner 2025 University of South Alabama

Modelled Flooding Impacts On Lower Fish River Watershed, Sebastian Loschner

Shelby Hall Graduate Research Forum Posters

This study investigates the impacts of compound flooding in the Lower Fish River watershed, Baldwin County, Alabama, with a focus on the potential effects of sea level rise due to climate change. Coastal flooding, particularly in smaller watersheds, is a growing concern as it results from the interaction of multiple factors, including rainfall, tidal changes, and extreme weather events. Compound flooding, which involves multiple flood drivers, is expected to worsen with climate change, as increased precipitation and rising sea levels create heightened flood risks. However, existing research on compound flooding predominantly focuses on large-scale watersheds, leaving a knowledge gap in …
