Navigating A Crisis With Imagination And Hope Through The Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm, Rodney R.J. Uzat

Jesuit Higher Education: A Journal

This article examines a Jesuit all boys college preparatory high school’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and how the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP) provided the school administrative team with guiding principles that inspired imaginative solutions allowing for in-person instruction throughout the majority of the crisis, which in turn offered much needed hope to the entire school community at a difficult time. Teachers' And Administrators' Opinions Of Lgbtq Students And Inclusive Education, Katie Vining

The goal of this study was to explore opinions of teachers and administrators in the South, when dealing with inclusive education within their school. Additionally, the goal was to examine the reported effect of teachers and administrators’ opinions of providing LGBTQ students with inclusive education on the school climate and risk factors of students. The study explored what practices and strategies have been implemented to provide an inclusive education for LGBTQ students.

Counseling supervision is an essential component of the continuity and expansion of the workforce providing mental health treatment to the increasing numbers of those in need. This research explored the experience of dually-roled counseling supervisors. Dually-roled supervisors are responsible for monitoring administrative work task performance while simultaneously providing clinical skill development to their assigned supervisees. This qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological study sought to understand how these supervisors felt, as they navigated the challenges and managed the complexity of the colliding roles. The purpose of this qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological study was to discover Chinese alumni’s perceived learning and the impacts of their undergraduate studies in the United States on their career goals and preparation. Using Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory and Knowles’ theory of andragogy as a theoretical framework, this study helped answer the central research question: How do Chinese students’ undergraduate experiences in the United States affect their career choices and planning? Sub-questions have further explored the participants’ relationship to academic and social engagement in college. Collective efficacy has become a prominent feature in educational policy and practice with growing evidence that a strong sense of collective efficacy amongst educators leads to better outcomes for students. With growing interest in the importance of collective efficacy and how to cultivate it, the Collective Efficacy Tracking Tool was created to address challenges associated with understanding, diagnosing, and developing collective efficacy. Prior to the 2019-2020 school year, the Christian school movement as a whole was in decline. However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought a surge in enrollment growth to Christian schools across the country. While this is encouraging news, Christian school leaders must be cautious and work to sustain the current growth surge. To maintain the growth surge, Christian school leaders can implement financial and non-financial factors of sustainability.
