The CSISG serves as a quantitative benchmark of the quality of goods and services produced by the Singapore economy over time and across countries. The fourth quarter results mark the end of measurement for CSISG 2020. Singapore’s 2020 national score was computed using the data collected during these four quarters.

A New Hospitality Marketing Perspective On The Emergence Of “Lifestyle Hotels”, Jun-Ichiro Tokue
Japanese Society and Culture
Hotels in Japan have long been grouped under two categories: city hotels and business hotels. While the former are relatively expensive, have a large number of guest rooms, and include a variety of French and Chinese and Japanese restaurants and bars as well as meeting rooms and huge banquet halls, the latter are relatively low-priced facilities that only have guest rooms or basic rooms destined to meals.
However, the category of lifestyle hotels, which is different from both, has been growing rapidly in Japan in the last few years. Instead of the above two categories, price categories such as luxury, …

Journal of Global Business Insights
Planning studies are important for the competitiveness of destinations and their actions with the principles of sustainability. Kuşadası and Didim, which have been among the most important mass tourism destinations in Turkey since 1960, have also long experienced common problems such as lack of coordination, environmental and infrastructural problems, and a lack of an integrated destination approach. Although a series of initiatives have been attempted to solve these problems—with a series of initiatives and good intentions—these initiatives have ultimately failed to achieve their outcomes. The current study aims to present the problems faced with destination management in both destinations. Specifically, …

A Big Data Exploration Of The Informational And Normative Influences On The Helpfulness Of Online Restaurant Reviews, Stephanie Meek, Violetta Wilk, Claire Lambert
Research outputs 2014 to 2021
© 2020 Edith Cowan University With the proliferation of user generated online reviews, uncovering helpful restaurant reviews is increasingly challenging for potential consumers. Heuristics (such as “Likes”) not only facilitate this process but also enhance the social impact of a review on an Online Opinion Platform. Based on Dual Process Theory and Social Impact Theory, this study explores which contextual and descriptive attributes of restaurant reviews influence the reviewee to accept a review as helpful and thus, “Like” the review. Utilising both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, a big data sample of 58,468 restaurant reviews on Zomato were analysed. Results revealed …

What Happens Here? Educating Las Vegas’S Guests During Covid-19, Marta Soligo
UNLV Gaming Research & Review Journal
When, in 2003, the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority (LVCVA) launched the tag line “What happens here, stays here,” it reinforced the idea, already supported by the media, that in Sin City everything is allowed. Looking at the COVID-19 crisis, one might wonder how, after being seen for years as a place without restrictions, Las Vegas could convince its tourists to respect some rigid safety guidelines. This paper tries to answer that question starting from the framework of the host-guest relationship, which is widely used in anthropology and sociology of tourism. On the one hand, I state that short-time …

Covid-19 And Its Implications For Women In Gaming: Move Towards Regulation, Policies, And Culture Changes In The United States, Shekinah Hoffman, Itzel Alanis
UNLV Gaming Research & Review Journal
COVID-19 exposes structural inequalities within American society which can no longer be ignored. Here, we highlight the structural inequalities women and women of color face that are glaringly apparent or exacerbated in the pandemic. Inequalities that play a role in the unemployment, insufficient workplace protection, and increased work-life demands of women and women of color in the gaming industry. Instead of returning to “normal” business post-pandemic, we urge gaming leaders to reflect on these inequities within their workplaces. We offer that guaranteed paid leave and permanent flexible work arrangements could improve the life of gaming women employees and their families.

Explaining The Economic Impact Of Covid-19: Core Industries And The Hispanic Workforce, Aaron Klein, Ember Smith
Policy Briefs and Reports
As the United States prepares for a COVID-19 recovery, policymakers need to understand why some cities and communities were more vulnerable to the pandemic’s economic consequences than others. In this paper, we consider the association between a city’s core industry, its economic susceptibility to the pandemic, and the recession’s racially disparate impact across six select metropolitan areas. We find that areas with economies that rely on the movement of people—like Las Vegas with tourism—faced substantially higher unemployment at the end of 2020 than cities with core industries based on the movement of information. Further, we find the hardest-hit areas have …

Preface
Technology has redefined how we experience hospitality. From the front of the house to the back, technology has allowed hospitality businesses to provide a faster, better, and more personalized service. Such benefits may be achieved by relying on the systems that remember all customer preferences, by bringing guests the speed and convenience of self-check-in, and employing robots that may attend to customer requests around the clock. However, all these wonderful innovations come with challenges, such as justifying a return on investment, establishing system security, building sustainable solutions, ensuring interoperability across different systems, and delivering high touch while using high …

Hospitality means more than being hospitable. It deals with emotions, trust, and interactions. It means being friendly and helpful, welcoming, and considerate, understanding needs and expectations, responding in quick and respectful ways. As an industry, hospitality is based on a human-centered philosophy, influenced by religions and cultural traditions.
Over the last few decades, the global hospitality industry has grown by leaps with more than 1000 hotel brands. This means travelers have several options to choose from. Hoteliers need to reach out to them in different ways. Hospitality industry offers tangible and intangibles to develop experiences. Therefore, building a consistent identity …

OVERVIEW
Over the past ten years, advancements in technology have created seismic shifts in how meetings and events are planned, marketed, and produced. While technology has not eliminated the importance of face-to-face meetings, what has radically changed are the tools at the disposal of the meeting and event professional throughout the event planning lifecycle. For example, event and guest bandwidth continues to increase in importance and, in many cases, may become a tipping point in the site selection process. Social media and mobile devices have become an inextricable part of the event management landscape. Meeting professionals used to preach turn …
